Best

The rover is a kirkland favorite. I recommend the fish and chips. Great staff a beautiful location. HIghly recommended!

Worst

I've been there twice. I know restaurants have their second string cooks on these days, so my expectation were moderated.\r My first visit was a Monday night, and I had the lamb ...

BOUNCERS HIT ON THE DRUNK GIRLS 3/18/2012

I went to the bathroom and when I came back the (BLACK) bouncer was sitting next to and hitting on my girlfriend and she was pretty drunk. I walked up to her and the bouncer tells me to leave! I said no and he stands up and starts pushing me backwards. He pushed me into a chair that was laying on the floor and tripped and fell down backwards. He then gets on top of me and holds me to the floor. I tell him to get the F off of me and that the girl is with me. He goes and asks her then comes back and says Ok she confirmed that. Then he says that since I called him a name that we still have a problem! Unbelievable! Another bouncer (TALL WHITE DUDE) comes and takes over. He trys to strong arm me. I told him to get the F off of me and I start walking to the door. Even as i'm leaving he was telling me to stop and listen to him like he was going to give me some kind of lecture. I tell him to F off and he's still talking smack like some kinda tough guy. I walked out on my own. Then when I get to the public sidewalk I lay into him verbally. So in the end I lose my glasses and get my hat crushed for a total of about 500 bucks worth of damage. This is going to the manager today so we'll see what they do. This isnt the first complaint of a bouncer hitting on a girl there. BEWARE!! These douchbags are IDIOTS! more

Black Been Burger Heaven! 12/27/2010

I know it sounds odd to rave about a black bean burger for an irish pub but you've got to try it. Thanks to the kind staff, friendly atmopshere and superb food! more

Good stuff 12/27/2010

I've been to many irish pubs. This one is pretty darn good. Great location, friendly staff and lots of beer choices. more

Bad Service 9/14/2009

I had a hard time leaving a tip. I made reservations for a party of 10 two days in advance. When the party arrived we were ignored at the front for several minutes. They did not set up a table for us. Instead sat us in the back and we had to help push tables together. Trying to get drinks, even water refills was like pulling teeth. The waiter also forgot to order one of our meals. So there was one person at the table with out food for 15 min. Whenever we asked the waiter for something it was like we were putting him out. \r I will never return! Pros: Location Cons: Customer service, overpriced, food, drinks more

THIS IS JUST A DIVE FOR KIDS 8/3/2009

This is definitely not an IRISH PUB . Was there last pm , Oh by the way they will hold your credit card and charge whatever. Anyway , maybe the owner of this establishment will email me and explain how you can call this a pub and why your staff were so rude to me my friends an especially my wife . Your drinks were not Bacardi , I worked for them , You are watering them down. I expect a reply from the owner asap as we are all trying to keep our buisinesses going but apparantly some just want to take your money . I am pretty sure unless I recieve a response , that you do not want to spend your money at this establishment , it is way overpriced ,the staff should all be let go and the owner should go into another buisiness. Cons: NO SEATING VERY RUDE STAFF more

wilde rover misses the mark 1/28/2009

i'm not one who normally critiques a restaurant and the waitstaff but when i'm having to force myself to leave even a 10% tip, you know it's bad. this was my first time at wilde rover. i could even copy/paste the reviews from below and, in part, i will: ""the wait staff is rude, had nachos that looked like they had been under a broiler way too long"" was my experience as well! i waited at the front of the restaurant while two staff persons watched me for 10 minutes (not exaggerating). no greeting, no offer of a table, nothing. when other people arrived, they decided to resume work and offered to seat me and my friend. during our meal, service was slow, waitress was rude (in an aloof, ""i'd rather be sipping on my drink that i have behind your booth,"" kind of way, and the nachos in particular were not good. our water glasses remained empty for a good part of the meal until i finally asked for a refill on water. \r hopefully the management takes note of these valid concerns and does some waitstaff training (or an overhaul), as well as looks into the quality of the food. \r i won't be back! Pros: can't think of one from my experience... Cons: waitstaff more

Such a Great Place! 1/28/2009

My boyfriend and I have been here several times and love it. We are excited about trying the breakfast that they now offer. Every entree has been wonderful from salads to burgers, the atmosphere is always fun and there seems to be less posers here than some other places in Kirkland. Servers are alwasy nice and courteous, we have sat at the bar and had fun there, too. Live music, a nice deck outside in the summer. Love it! Pros: Great food and service more

Its become ""the place to go"" in Kirkland. 7/11/2008

We love going to the Wilde Rover on weekends. Its also the perfect place to go after a day on the boat. The live music almost every night makes it stand out from the rest! I'm glad they keep the cover reasonable though, after all, people go out in Kirkland for its small town charm.\r \r The service is inconsistent on week days but much better on weekends. We have definitely found our favorite server and we go out of our way to sit in his section. He always works hard to get us what we order even when its standing room only. Pros: Live music, great burgers and desserts & a great waterfront location Cons: Pricey entrees and desserts & you will have to learn the hard way that there are only about 2 good servers more

Thanks 7/2/2008

We had some hurdles during our dining experience, but the manager was very gracious and took care of our concerns. I am happy to say, he was very professional and that is what I look for and hope for when patronizing any business. Pros: Manager Cons: Parking more

WILD ROVER GONE DOWN HILL!!!!!! 6/17/2008

Wild Rover has definitely gone down hill! I was reading the reviews from a year ago and maybe there was change in management???? I was definitely a fan of Wild Rover, was there practically every weekend last summer but as of the late, the wait staff is rude, had a nachos that looked like they had been under a broiler way too long, couldn't even separate the chips and what you would call bouncers are a joke! One of the bouncers was totally hitting on this gal who was way to drunk to even walk! When I go out, I'd like to think the establishment I frequent would take care their patrons if they are too intoxicated, so much for feeling safe!!!! Pros: have alcohol Cons: food is stale, wait staff is rude, bouncers are cantankerous more

WORST customer service I've ever encountered 6/10/2008

After a long hard Monday at work and a gruelling dance practice, me and my girls stopped into a local pub. Never again. As our first round dwindled down to empties, we contemplated asking for more. When I politely asked for another round of drinks, the bartender snidely retorted ""not with that attitude."" Mind you, we were the ONLY people sitting at the bar. In shock, I asked, ""MAY I please have another drink?"" He then proceeded to tell me that we could go sit at a table if we wanted service - and blithely wiped the counters, or put away glasses, acting too ""busy"" to provide us beverages. Excuse me, but when I go to a bar, I go for the experience, and this was DEFINITELY not a pleasant one. I was so disgusted with his behavior that I walked out. I would not reccomend this place to anyone. Great atmosphere only goes so far - rude customer service leaves a lasting impression. Pros: great atmosphere Cons: rude bartender, horrible service, bad food more

Maybe Better Weekends 12/4/2007

I've been there twice. I know restaurants have their second string cooks on these days, so my expectation were moderated.\r My first visit was a Monday night, and I had the lamb stew. What I got was a huge bowl filled mostly with gravy, that had obviously been sitting in the window for some time, judging from the film that had formed on the surface. It tasted ok, but I would guess it was left over from thursday or friday and it had been reheated a few times. The meat and vegies were broken up into shreds, and were hard to eat without getting big spoons full of the gravy. Late that night I suffered a bit of GI ""inflation"". Nothing too serious, but something set me off.\r On the second trip, I had my heart set on the ruben, which is made with what they claim is house made (or is it house ""carved""?) corned beef. The moment I walked in the door at 8:00, a surly looking fellow, with no distinguishing markings on this clothing, came up to me and demanded $5 with no explanation. I looked at him and asked him who the hell he was, and why I should give him money. He said it was a cover charge, but there was no band to be seen. In fact, the Sunday night football game was playing on a big projector screen. ""We always charge cover from 8 on Sundays"". So I gave him his money and sat down in a mostly empty pub. After having a decent but unremarkable ruben, I was ready to leave at 8:45. Still no band, so I found the surly fellow and demanded my $5 back. He acted like no one had ever dared do such a thing. When he refused, dispite my pointing out that there was still no band for which they could justify charging a cover, I insisted on seeing the manager (this was simply a matter of principle at this point). So he goes off to get the manager, but the manager won't talk to me. Instead, he has the surly fellow give me back my ""cover"" charge, which he does with obvious hostility. \r The food might be good on peak nights. But I won't go back. Pros: Nice decor Cons: mediocre food, neglectful service, bogus cover charges more

Our favorite spot in Kirkland 9/4/2007

My husband and I go there regularly, love sitting out on the deck. The breakfasts WERE wonderful, I understand they no longer serve them however - disappointing. But, the fish and chips, curry fries, caesar salad, shepherds pie, nachos, among other selections, are delicious. And the Guiness - oh wow, how satisfying to sit outside (or inside) and sip that fabulous pint. Great service, great chef, too. In fact, we love everything about Wilde Rover - it's our favorite spot in Kirkland! more

Amazing 8/14/2007

I was in Kirkland for one day visiting a friend, and we happened to stumble upon this restaurant right on the waterfront. First of all, they seat you almost right away, and they are very nice and polite. All the waiters and waitresses are friendly, and talk to you like a normal person, not someone they're just serving food too, and cleaning up for afterwards. And the food...my GOSH the food is good. The chef there must have LOTS of experience, because everything smelled and tasted so good! It's absolutely the best place. And the view from outside the window is wonderful, you can see Lake Washington at it's best! And the Argasy Lake Cruise is right across the street, a great activity to do after you eat! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT Pros: Right on the waterfront, very good service, friendly waiters/waitresses, amazing food. Cons: They should open earlier in the day and serve breakfast all week long, not just on Sundays! more

A Fantastic PUB! 4/11/2007

Let's start with... Boddingtons on tap with Nitrous... delicious! Your typical pub grub for meals with a good helping of the usual Irish fare. The corned beef and cabbage wasn't anything to write home about but that dish rarely is, haha. The Irish Nachos are a great companion for your pint. This is truly the definition of a pub. Good service, great great crowds, decent food, excellent pricing, and very convenient for Kirkland residence. Very relaxed, good service, outdoor patio for you smokers, outstanding wait staff. Pros: Great Pub Atmosphere and Service Cons: Irish Food... HAHAHAHA more

Great customer surface, Great executive chef. 11/30/2006

Wilde Rover is the best place to eat when you're down in the water front. They serve awesome food, and I love the chef Scott Siemers. He prepares the greatest meals. Go down to Wilde Rover!! Pros: Food, Survice, Chef Scott Siemers Cons: Should open earlier and have brunch on more days than Sunday. more

GO HERE 11/26/2006

The food was filling and tasty, service wasn't as great as it should be since it wasn't very busy the night I went. more

Nice atmosphere, but apparently you can't eat there during a Seahawks game 11/22/2006

My son and I went there last Sunday. Being of Irish descent, we love to find an Irish ""pub"" and were anticipating a fun experience with good food. Our waiter was very inattentive and either disappeared entirely or was engrossed in the Seahawks-49ers game. When someone else brought our food, we received our entree and appetizer at the same time. The potato leek soup was delicious, but the salad dressing was very bland and the lettuce was still wet with water (or the dressing was so bland it only tasted diluted). The potato skins were average, but there was something on them that made them taste sweet. We had to ask for a refill of our water and then flag someone else down to get our check because our waiter had disappeared again.\r \r I might try this place again to give it a second chance. They're new and maybe still experiencing growing pains. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Spotty service more

roughty regulars 11/17/2006

we went here on a Friday night for dinner and had a wonderful waitress. I was enjoying my awesome meal of corned beef and cabbage when a large group was seated behind us. One of the girls was very intoxicated and started throwing napkins over her shoulder onto the floor. Then she threw her glass and it barely missed my head. Glass was everywhere and the girl was oblivious to what a mess she made. Our waitress had to clean it up and no one said anything to the out of control crasher. Our waitress told us they were regulars and they did nothing about the incident. I do not know if I would go back there considering there ""regular"" patrons flagrant disrespect for others around them. more
