Best

Hickory is lucky to have such a great little Asian Fusion Bistro. They serve Chinese, Thai, and Sushi. The sushi is some of the best in town. I rarely get the same thing twice ...

Worst

When Wild Wok first opened, they were exceptional in service and food. Now that it's been a few years, the place has gone down from food and service.

Use to be a good restaurant 5/8/2012

very rude staff 1/28/2011

Until today I loved WW. We go there several times a month. Not any more. today was the last time. we had to go get our own to go boxes and waited 15 minutes for our check. then the waitress got the orders wrong on the checks, charged for the wrong thing, and then worst of all argueed with us even after we asked to see the manager. she came back again after we talked to the manager to arguee some more. Even told someone at our table that the issue did not concern them. VERY RUDE AND INAPPROPRIATE. nobody in our group will ever go back. more

Excellent Asian Fusion Food 4/8/2010

Hickory is lucky to have such a great little Asian Fusion Bistro. They serve Chinese, Thai, and Sushi. The sushi is some of the best in town. I rarely get the same thing twice because everything looks so good and I want to try it all. I've never been disappointed. Pad Thai is probably my favorite non-sushi dish of theirs. The portions are generous. They are flexible with cooking styles if you have special dietary needs. I'm so glad people realized how great this restaurant is and that it finally started filling up on the weekends. I remember going there with my husband the first year it was open and often having the place to ourselves. It's now so popular that they have another location in Viewmont. The Viewmont location is great, too, FYI. The good reviews you read are all true. Notice that the one mediocre review is from a chef, and the bad review is from someone who is mad that her meal wasn't free. As hard as it is to keep a restaurant open in Hickory, you'd think people would understand that you actually do have to charge for the food to stay in business. That being said, Wild Wok's prices are extremely reasonable, portions are huge, and you can almost always find a coupon in the quarterly mailers or the big fundraiser coupon books. Wild Wok, I hope you stay open for a long, long time! Pros: variety, reasonable prices, good service, excellent food Cons: not much, long wait on weekends because it's so good! more

Great Sushi! 1/7/2010

My wife and I eat at Wild Wok Asian Bistro at least twice a month and almost always get the Deluxe sashimi. The serving size is large and always delicious. The wait staff and sushi chef know us by name and always make us feel welcome. We frequently get the Thai calamari and squid salad as appetizers. It is a great place to eat all styles of Asian food. Pros: Sushi is the BEST! more

Not Particularly Impressed 11/13/2009

I was invited by a couple of friends to dine with them at Wild Wok after attending a movie on Friday evening November 13th. As a certified executive chef, perhaps I am a bit more critical than the average dining public, but I must say that I was somewhat less than impressed by the food. It was presented well, but it was definitely lacking in flavor. I ordered the Hot and Sour Soup as an appetizer. It was neither Hot (Spicy) nor Sour (Acidic). It tased more like Eggdrop Soup, somewhat bland, more like salty thickened chicken stock. All the proper garniture were present, the dried mushrooms, the tofu, the julienne bamboo shoots, but it lacked both the heat and acidity I have come to expect in well prepared Hot and Sour Soup. For my main course, I ordered the Spicy Thai Basil Chicken. I told my server, ""the spicier the better"", which apparently was not communicated to the chef. The dish was quite disappointing to say the least. It was definitely not spicy and I could not even find a trace of Thai Basil in the dish. I did not express my dissatisfaction with my meal to the server since I was not the one picking up the tab, But if I were the one paying for the meal, I would definitely have complained about not getting what I was paying for. Pros: Very busy restaurant Cons: Food: average, somewhat disappointing more

Kids are not Free..... 7/9/2009

We went after church with a party of nine. We had our church flyer so we all could get our free tea's. Great if I might say so myself. Kids do not eat for FREE... they eat for $0.99 or $1.99. Which isn't bad considering we 5 kids. When got to order they gave us a hard time because my daughter looked older than she is. The lady said 9 and under eat off the kids meal when I called and asked when we got there it as Under 9!!! So, we was going to have to pay for her. But, on the regular menu they didn't serve fried shrimp so we asked if we could do something for her so she could get what she wanted. The waitress said NO, so we asked to speack to the manager. She refused to get the manager. So, we all had decieded to leave and go somewhere else. When we was leaving the manager came and said that she would let her order of the lunch side so she could get shrimp. But it was to late we was all mad and the kids were very upset. So, we left anyways. As we were talking to the manager the waitress came out and handed us checks for the tea's!!!! $24 for tea's!!! Can you believe that? Pros: Nice Place Cons: Tea's Free on Sunday with Church Flyer more

Great island for vegetarians 7/11/2008

Hickory is not an easy place for vegetarians to find a place to eat. Wild Wok has several vegetarian offerings that are extremely tasty. And if you don't find exactly the right food combination on the menu, they are very open to creating new dishes for you. I know, we do it all the time. more

Excellent Cuisine! 6/19/2008

I love Wild Wok. They have a good variety of food in different Asian styles -- Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. The sushi is great, and the atmosphere is very nice. But it's not a stuffy place -- very casual. Prices are reasonable. Favorites include the Cashew Roasted Chicken, Green Basil Curry Chicken, and Pad Thai with chicken, pork, and shrimp. Pros: Food and service are generally very good. Cons: There is a large bar in the middle with large plasma screen televisions, which some may find distracting. more
