Best

Historic White Oaks opened in 1928 and has been serving Cleveland's finest ever since. Beautiful white building and grounds. You can sit by one of their six fireplaces or near a...

Disappointed 3/23/2003

Another couple and ourselves, decided to celebrate our 20 something anniversaries at White Oaks. Our previous experiences had been very good, however on Sun. Mar.23, it was pathetic. The salads were wilty, duck greasy, dry, and overpowered with sauce. Beef Wellington was served well done and not rare as requested. A corrected Wellingto was served 30 minutes after the rest of the party had finished eating. The rice was salty, overcooked, and nasty looking. Veggies were hard and over seasoned. Scampies and venison were acceptable. The bus boy did a good job of filling glasses and removing dishes however the waitress never returned to the table until she presented the check. What a disappointment this special event turned out to be. Pros: parking, atmosphere, coffee Cons: food quality, food presentation, wait staff more

very romatic 1/13/2003

I love gooing here and setting by the window and looking out over the river. Best in town for romatic evenings more

White Oaks is Best in Cleveland 1/7/2003

For my money, White Oaks is the best restaurant in the Cleveland area. Outstanding food and a wonderful atmosphere, it just doesn't get any better than this! I would highly recommend the Filet Mignon or Prime Rib, but many love the Rabbit Medallions or Venison! more

Wow! 10/7/2002

I can't say enough about locally-owned dining like this. I never had duck before- Holy cow what a dinner. And the atmosphere is remarkable. Awesome date place for 1 on 1. You WON'T be disappointed! more

Casual Elegance 9/16/2002

Nestled amoung a forest like setting, the White Oaks offers a casual dining experience, without the formality of city dining. Yet the cuisine rivals the best of fare one kind normally only find in the city, with out the city price tag. Pros: lovely setting, good parking, casual elegance Cons: hard to get to, too expensive more

Service with a smile? 9/4/2002

You won't receive it here! After viewing the White Oak website, we made a 6:30 reservation for a non-smoking window seat. We were told this would not be a problem. When we arrived, no window seating was available. We were seated in a booth --in the smoking area. When we said we preferred non-smoking we were moved to a very small table in a dark corner. Althought the food was good, the atmosphere was unpleasant, and the service was slow. When we requested coffee and a dessert menu, we were told by one waiter that providing dessert menus was not his job. We are sorry that we inconvenienced the White Oaks by having dinner there. We certainly won't bother them again. Pros: Good Parking, Out of the way, Not a 'chain' Cons: Unfriendly, Old and Dusty more

WOW 8/1/2002

the WHITE OAKS is tasteful with a romantic flavor....how can one not enjoy the moment when you are surrounded by the lush greenery outside, enhanced by large windows allowing the mistique of the moment to become entwined with the delicious flavors and aromas of the suculent meal! Magnificent! Pros: good parking, good wait staff Cons: smoking at the bar more
