Whitakers Auto Body & Paint

I've had my car less than a year and twice someone has run into me. The first time I wasn't sure where to have the car repaired, but I remembered a friend mentioning Whitakers Auto Body & Paint. The whole staff was very kind and knowledgeable, the car was repaired in a reasonable time, and you couldn't tell there was any damage at all. The individual who hit me paid for the repair. A few weeks ago I was hit again, on the other side and immediately when asked where to take it -- Whitakers was the first thing out of my mouth. When the other guy's insurance asked where I had it, I said, ""Whitakers on Lamar, of course."" My experience was supported again and I had the car in a week, amazing! These are great people who do outstanding work for a reasonable price in a reasonable amount of time. Take your car to Whitakers. more

I tried really hard to deliver my business to this Lakeway establishment. I had to hound them to schedule my vehicle for repairs. After being passed around the office today I gave up. I would rather spend my time getting a prostate exam, then trying to beg someone to take my money. more

First, their rates were competitive. I've used another place three times over the last 15 years (2 deers and 1 tree) and they were great--but too far north. So, based on the reviews I thought I would get a quote--and it was a few hundred lower. more

I have required extensive auto body repair and paint twice over the last few years. Fortunately I chose Whitakers. Steve has been exemplary in both cases, the workmanship in both cases has been great and the first time actually exceeded my expectations. In fact when I picked up my Suburban on the most recent occurance, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had repaired a section not in the original quote at no additional charge. I heartily recommend Whitakers for any and all body work, detailing and paint. There are two things certain in life for me: My car will undoubtedly need bumper repairs at least once a year and I will always get it repaired at Whitakers from now on. First off, I am one of those people who never writes reviews, but after going to Whitakers, there is no way I could not write one. The bumper of my Infiniti is like a magnet for other cars. Every year, at least one person decides to run into my car bumper, so I've been to quite a few shops. I've wanted to take my car to Whitakers for awhile now, but the other drivers' insurance always said I had to take it to one of theirs (by the way, this is absolutely false, don't ever listen when they say that). Right off the bat I could recognize the amazing customer service. Everyone was extremely polite and nice. In addition, I live downtown, but the insurance for the driver who hit me said the Lakeway Whitakers location is on their list of places or whatever and it would be easier for me to get my car repaired there. I contacted the Lakeway location and they said to drop the car off at their South Austin location and they will drive to their Lakeway location to fix and then drive it back for me to pick up. Steve, the owner, said, ""We'll always do whatever is the easiest and best for you."" When I got my car back, the repairs were flawless. Every other body shop I've been to, there were always problems with the repairs. But, as their were transporting my car over, the spare motor oil container I keep in my trunk exploded. They informed me and cleaned it, and then hooked me up at Genie Car Wash for free to clean it even more. No biggie, because it could have easily happened to me and I would have had to pay for car cleaning. Two days later, I noticed the paint on my bumper was cracking. I felt bad about the transportation service they gave me, especially after the motor oil incident, so I went into the Lakeway shop directly. It puzzled them for a little bit, but they were readily prepared accept responsibility and fix it for free and pay for a car rental. After closer examination, they found that someone had backed into my bumper (go figure), and showed me the dent, and that was the cause. However, they STILL fixed it for FREE! I got my car back today, and again a flawless repair. (Note: when I got to the shop, they still offered to do the transportation service from South Austin to Lakeway, but I declined for the reason mentioned above). Bottom line: Whitakers provides the BEST customer service I have seen anywhere, not just in the car repair industry, and they fix cars to perfection. If you need any kind of car repair, you MUST take your car to Whitakers. more

I'm revising my review from a couple of months ago, which was written before Whitaker's had completed the work on our car. At the time, I was frustrated by Whitaker's customer service--specifically that they never told us when dates slipped. At the time, I also felt their prices were going to be steep. more

Looking back, I missed the mark in my assessment. In particular, the price for the body work ended up being less than what I'd expected, and less than what we'd been quoted elsewhere. Better still, the quality was first rate. So, in our experience, we don't agree with other reviewers who found Whitaker's to be pricey. ? Overall, despite being upset by the lack of communication as to when the car was would be ready, we came away pleased with Whitaker's. In fact, we took a second vehicle there a month later. (Both vehicles had been damaged in the massive hail storm on March 25.) We wouldn't have do so if we didn't believe that Whitakers did good work for a fair price. more

The shop suddenly became very busy with major work, and my small repair could seem insignificant, but these folks handled it beautifully. They actually went above and beyond by taking care of a couple of scratches in a separate area of the bumper from the damage I brought it in for. They won my business hands down! Pros: Great work, great customer service Cons: Parking lot is a bit tight more
