Best

Me and 7 of my my friends went to Whirleyball Inc on a saturday. We had reserved time from 4.30PM to 6.00PM. Unfortunately 5 of us got lost along the way and reached to the place ...

Neck Injury 5/19/2006

I had the greatest time playing whirly ball in the summer of 1993. That is, until a guy came from across the court at top speed and rear-ended me. I was in a neck-brace for 6 weeks and my spine has never been the same. Super-fun, but solemnly agree with your teammates to avoid this type of hit. more

Great Fun for the Kids 4/1/2006

My son went to a birthday party here and had a great time. Definitely a unique idea, and a great indoor birthday party place, which there can't be enough of around here. Would definitely host a party here ourselves, as all the kids seemed wildly amused. A little on the expensive side, but probably worth it for the unique experience. more

Quite possibly the funnest thing in Seattle 3/31/2006

Yes, I meant to use "funnest". Whirley ball rocks. You are on teams of 5, each in your own bumper car. You get a JaiAlai-type handle to throw and catch a wiffle ball. You shoot at a target. You have lots of fun. The Whirley handle is totally forgiving and it makes it easy to catch and throw the ball. Plus you get to hit people. A must do. more

WhirlyBall - basketball on bumper cars 3/25/2006

Whiryball is a really fun game. You have 2 teams of 5. Each person carries a scoop and there's 1 wiffleball. You score when the wiffleball hits the target located several feet above the ground. There's a 3 point line as well! Be prepare to be shaken up a little when people maliciously collides into you! But that's part of the fun. more

Whirley Ball...a world of its own. 3/17/2006

Here ye, here ye: I’ve been hearing about Whirley Ball for ages and was always intrigued…just not captivated enough to drive to Edmonds on my own accord. We had a work related event there this week and the “sport” is all that people told me it could be. Lacrosse meets bumper cars. Competitive nature meets looking ridiculous. Throw in beer for good measure. From what I can tell its garnered an understandably loyal and eccentric following. Rent a court for events or just show up. Plenty of entertainment while you’re waiting for your turn: practice wall, arcade games, observation area, snack bar, etc. The actual game is in fact very fun…my general rule of thumb is that if it includes a whiffle ball it can’t be bad. Beyond the game, the arena/venue has that very hard to find element reminiscent of roller rinks & other childhood activity halls. Something about the lighting, the best kind of gross pizza, the staff hijinx – it’s magical. It’s a constant reminder of how much happiness these places could bring when you were little. I tried to write a review of my favorite youth skating rink and it’s out of business. I’ll save my ruminations on how this is directly related to the bankruptcy of my childhood innocence and sanguinity, for my future G.A.N. (great American novel). I digress. Whirley Ball is great not only for its fundamental entertainment value, but perhaps more importantly for its positive vibe, atmosphere, and overall cheer. more

Bring it! 1/24/2006

What is Whirlyball? Fun. Whirlyball is like basketball played with small lacrosse sticks while driving bumper cars. Fun! From off the court, it looks like a ridiculously slow game--an interesting thought once you're playing, trying to scoop up the ball before someone else swoops in and passes it to one of the other players quickly crowding around you. It's a fun game for athletic, competitive types (there's a referee!), yet it offers enough uncontrollable challenges (unwieldly cars!) to be manageable and enjoyable for even the most skeptical, non-player. For people who aren't participating or watching (there's an observation deck above the court), there are arcade games. It's not the largest amount of space in the world, but it works. It's hard not to like it; it feels like you're back in high school, just hanging out. Large parties are easily accommodated, but be sure to call in advance with the number of hours/sessions you'll be there and how you'll be paying (you can leave a deposit, have it refunded and have individual members of your party pay that night). When you get hungry, you can find the usual rec center fare, including pizza, chicken strips, and nachos. The beer list is suprisingly extensive (well, at least more than I expected it to be) with quite a few local IPAs, ambers and stouts on top of the usual domestic selections. Just don't let the alcohol make you forget: Not buckling your belt while the game is in play means lots of points for the opposing team. Not good. more

A fun time with food for all! 8/18/2005

Okay imagine this, you get into go-karts, you get a air basket paddle (like la cross) and a plastic ball. You pass the ball around to your team mates as you drive your kart from one end of the court to the other, and try to throw it into a smaller than basketball hoop set up vertically. That is whirley ball! The real fun is the go kart racing and ramming, but be careful you can get bruises! A very fun time for a birthday party or just to get 6 or 10 of your friends and play a fun game of whirley ball! they also serve food.. I think 20 bucks a person covers it, but bring a bit more to be safe! more

I love Whirly Ball 7/6/2004

Whirley Ball is best described as a combination between bumper cars, basketball, and lacrosse/jai alai. What an awesome and original sport. Even the athletically challenged like myself can play. Its fun for birthday partys and events for people of all ages! more
