We have taken our two Beagles (Boogie and Allie) to Dr. Luttinen and his staff at Wheaton Way Vet for the past 10 ½ years. We have always received exceptional routine care. The office is clean and the staff is friendly and caring. Over the last four months I have discovered what sets them apart from other clinics though.\r In late December of 2012, we took Boogie and Allie in for an annual teeth cleaning. Wheaton Way Vet had discovered Allie had a heart murmur on a previous visit, so when they noticed that the heart murmur had gotten worse they decided to x-ray her prior to putting her under anesthesia for the cleaning. Upon x-ray they discovered an unusual growth on Allie’s left lung. Once the biopsy results came back it was determined that our girl had cancer. We were devastated, but Dr. Luttinen was confident that the cancer had not spread and that they would be able to remove it all. Surgery was performed and within 24 hours our girl was back home with us and is doing wonderfully. You would never know what she had been through just a few short months ago.\r Last Thursday we took Boogie to Wheaton Way Vet because he had been having stomach issues. His blood work showed low Albumin levels indicating that his body was not absorbing protein. Over the next few days Dr. Luttinen and his staff worked diligently to determine the cause of the low protein levels. Boogie was a very sick dog and during this time we were treated like family by Dr. Luttinen and his staff. Dr. Luttinen provided us with his cell phone number and we were free to call or text with any concerns while we were trying to determine the cause of our dogs illness. At one point Dr. Luttinen offered to take Boogie to his house overnight to keep an eye on him since they do not have staff on hand at night. They went above and beyond, including Dr. Luttinen and one of WWV staff members (Todd – THANK Y OU) coming in on a Sunday (they are closed Sundays) to run blood work to determine if the treatment we had decided to try was working. Thankfully it was and we still have Boogie with us. If it wasn’t for Dr. Dave and his staff at WWV I’m afraid the outcome would be much different.\r I honestly could not recommend a better clinic!\r more

Dog lover recommended! 3/1/2012

I moved here with my now 5-year-old Australian Shep. mix about 2 years ago. We've been seeing Dr. Curran for several months now and I couldn't be more happy. Everyone at the office has always been very kind and accomodating. I've always gotten detailed receipts, I've always been informed of how much things cost (But I also am one to always ask - I wouldn't ever have assumed a nail clipping would be free as another reviewer here did). I feel like the pricing for visits and medications is reasonable (owning a pet isn't cheap!), the wait has never been unreasonable, and they've "squeezed" me in on one occasion for an emergency (my dog had a stroke) and were very comforting and patient with me, as I was emotional and upset. I can't speak about the other vets on site, but Dr. Curran and staff get 5 stars in my book! more

We're Treated Like Family! 1/14/2012

We first brought our precious Bichon to WWVC in early September 2004 when she was 10 months old. Dr. Dave Luttinen and his wonderful staff have always taken very competent and compassionate care of our "baby" when she came in for routine care, boarding, or urgent care for much more serious on-going issues. A couple of the medications she needs to take (probably for the rest of her life) have to be obtained from "human" pharmacies. WWVC's Senior Veterinary Assistant negotiated with one of those pharmacies to get a reduction to the price if we ordered two months at a time...her efforts save us $30/month. Another Vet Asst. also went the extra mile to resolve concerns/questions with the food manufacturer about our "baby's" new diet. The staff at WWVC is like family. We wouldn't take our "baby" anywhere else unless we had to in an emergency when WWVC was closed or because they were immersed in helping other people's "babies". more

I WOULD GIVE THEM 10 STARS IF I COULD !!! 1/14/2012

Dr. Luttinen and his staff are the epitome of their profession! They treat & care for my pets as if they are one of their own. They are kind, so much passion & compassion for all their clients. Always willing to do what is needed & necessary. Dr. Luttinen is so smart & proactive. He keeps up to date with all the latest treatments & procedures that are available, always keeping in mind what is the best for you, the owner and your pets. They are active & guardians of all our furry friends in the community. My dog, Baby, has had numerous medical issues. He just loves to come into the clinic to see his friends! They have been a huge blessing to me and my family!! I would HIGHLY recommend them, I know you will be happy! Pros: null Cons: null more

Best Vet Ever!!! 1/14/2012

I first found WWVC online, which to me was a huge plus. I had just adopted an 8 yr old GSD and wanted her to have a check up. I was very impressed with all the staff at WWVC. Dr. Luttinen took the time to get down on the floor and look her over. He explained things we should watch for and was very informative. Sadly to say she developed cancer of the spleen. Dr. Luttinen and the staff did everything they could for her. Unfortunately she continued to have problems and we chose to let her go instead of putting her through more pain. They have taken care of all of our furry friends since we moved to this area 5 years ago. In that time they have helped us with a diabetic cat, a Pekingese with a tumor and our Mastiff who almost died from eating a slipper, tennis ball and rocks. They have helped us with the loss of our Merial (GSD) and our Bellie (kitty). I would not think of taking my furry family members to anyone else. One last thing, I know they would love to help every animal that came more

Loving and Caring, Life Saving Care for my Dogs. 4/13/2011

We love you all at Wheaton Way Veterinary Hospital!!!\r We take all three of our dogs to Wheaton Way Vet for everything from toe nail trimming to Cancer Chemo treatments. I have a little girl named Maggie Mae who is getting the best treatment for Lymphoma. She goes in about once a week for IV chemo treatment, it's a very rough thing to go through she is only 9 pounds. Maggie Mae loves going to see her buddies at Wheaton Way, She is always happy with a wagging tail when we pull in to the parking lot, and can't wait to go from my arms to see all her friends. They give her loving care, and take very good care of her cancer. Maggie has had cancer for 18 months and today is doing well, she is eatting great, playing, and acting like a happy dog. I am very greatful to all of the staff at Wheaton Way for giving her the best treatment she could ever get. They keep the prices low so it's affordable for us, we are not a rich family. We really love all of the staff, and thank them for doing such more

Please beware. 3/24/2011

I had to take my dog to the vet because she had a horrible ear infection that would no got away. She needed new medicine because the first round given did not work. We had spent over $400 treating it the first time and only had about $110 to take care of it before it got worse. Hoping after being loyal customers for 5 years they could take the$110 and let us make payments. They said NO. They cared more about their money than my suffering dog. My sister then took her poodle to them to be treated for a tick bite. They only had a couple hundred for all the tests that needed to be done. They did the work and never let her have her dog back because she couldn't pay it ALL up front. Sent her dog to a shelter and was put down 30 days later because she was not able to adopt it, and nobody else came in to adopt either. Its a horrible play to take an animal. They care more about money then they do the wonderful life you have brought to them. I urge anyone who cares about their animals to please stay away. more

Top Notch Clinic 11/19/2010

This clinic is great. They really care about the animals and take the time to explain what's going on with them. I wish MDs I've been to would be half this good. more

Would Not Use 9/11/2010

This Clinic refused to see my dog on an emergency for a Saturday, I explained the situation and the only response was no no no. I will never use them or recommend. more

Wonderful! 5/30/2010

This clinic is awesome! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! We brought our little puppy here for his first check up and shots. The staff is so friendly and really made my dog feel comfortable. The vet was very informative and nice. My dog absolutely loved her! They have very reasonable prices. Great experience for me and my little one. more

Hip, knee or torn ACL 3/6/2010

Our Old English Sheepdog Martha has suffered with what we we told by other doctors a hip problem and arthritis. After 3 long years of medication nothing was making her better. My husband and I decided to seek another opinion and that is where we met Dr. Luttinen. He is the first doctor who actually knew what was wrong with Martha. It was not a hip problem or arthritis at all but a knee problem, a torn ACL. We are so grateful to have found this doctor. Personality, knowledge, connections in the Vet Community and the true caring of our dog Martha, makes this doctor a 10 in my book. My husband and I felt so relieved after finding out what was wrong with Martha. She is scheduled for surgery and now will be under the care of Dr. Luttinen along with her brother George. If you want a Vet who gives 100% to your animal Dr. Luttinen is your man! more

Dr Luttinen is our Angel 2/9/2010

Dr Luttinen is our Angel; we had found a lump on our 6 years old boxer?s lower jaw. We took him into our regular vet that told me that our baby probley had bone cancer in his lower jaw and felt that doing a biopsy was (in not so many words) ?a waste of time and money.? After three weeks, my heart heavy with grief, I decide to get a second opinion. I went to another vet who told me that I should take him to Dr Luttinen, that he love challenges, and would take great care of our baby. The very next day we took our boxer to meet with Dr Luttinen. Dr Luttinen became our light in darkness. He told us that he felt that this was an impacted tooth and would love to do x rays, and do all that could to help us with our baby! Dr Luttinen did exactly that!! After x rays, biolospy and blood work it turned out to be just what he had thought, an impacted tooth also know as a Dentigerous cyst, NO CANCER!! \r Dr Luttinen not only took the time, but also he was wonderful with our boxer and more

Excellent Medical Care & Knowledge 10/1/2009

Our family took our beloved 6 year old dog "Cherokee" to Wheaton Way for a 3rd opinion because he was really sick. Two previous vets told us to put him to sleep without running any tests since they 'couldn't do anything for him'. A little over an hour after 1st taking our dog to Dr. Luttinen, we knew exactly what was wrong with "Cherokee" and they immediately started treatment. He had a really bad kidney infection which he needed an ultrasound, iv fluids, pain meds, and other stuff. Cherokee came home 4 days later totally back to normal and has done great ever since. more

You saved our doggie!!! 4/2/2009

One week ago my boyfriend and I watched as our 1 year old Golden Lab was hit by a car after escaping out the front door. It was a total nightmare and we thought we would loose him! We got to Wheaton Way Clinic as they were locking the doors for the evening and they let us in...stabilized him (he was going into shock) and did the preliminary exams & x-rays before sending us to the 24-hour emergency clinic. Dr. Woods and her team were amazing, efficient and incredibly caring! I've taking Hogan here for his initial puppy exams and everyone was great but they shined under these conditions and I believe saved our dog. Minus a couple of skull fractures and a cone on his head...Hogan is almost back to normal! I would recommend Wheaton Way Veterinary Clinic to EVERYONE!!! Thank you....The Tomlinson & Johnson Family more
