PLACE IS NOW A RIPOFF!!!! Took a friend to lunch there. Big mistake. We both ordered the dolphin sandwich for $10.99. The waiter advised us that no sides came with it but he suggested the Whale's fries for $4.99. So we ordered one to share. What a F**KING ripoff. What we got was a bowl of glorified potato chips some of which were undercooked. The fish sandwich consisted of two small pieces of the scrap tail sections on a huge roll with a slice of tomato and shredded lettuce. The total with no drinks except for 1 ice tea came to $32 including tax. Add a $5 tip for a total of $37 for a lunch that was essentially a bowl of chips and a large roll. Stay away from this now a RIPOFF place!!! more

You always give great service and the food is hot and fresh. We will always come back when we can. more

I've never written a review before but based on my treatment at this restaurant I was motivated. The food was fresh. But not better than other seafood joints I've been to. However, after we paid for the meal and my husband and I were finishing our drinks we were the last patrons in the restaurant, but NOT the bar. Also, it was close to, but NOT yet closing time. Within a few minutes the lights were turned off and we were left sitting in the DARK while the staff seemed to hide in the back. I got the feeling this was a purposeful move to get rid of us. I am still appalled!!! You plunk down $80 bucks, they get their tip and they don't have the courtesy to let you finish your meal. When a waitress finally passed our table in the dark I commented on the situation and her response was, ""I didn't turn off the light."" Like it wasn't HER fault and she had no intention of correcting the matter. If I could send an e-mail to the management to communicate my dissatisfaction, I would. But they don't seem to have a web site. So, I am posting this review. more

I have been coming here for years and years and never ever have I been disappointed by anything. I could eat the rock shrimp all day every day, along with the best lobster bisque I've ever had! Service is great, even when they're slammed. Will always be my favorite local spot. Pros: best lobster bisque, great ceasar salad Cons: coming during season :) more

Hubby and I are snowbirds from Canada and our first stop when we arrive is at the Whale's Rib. The conch chowder is to die for; the fresh raw oysters are ""FRESH"" and the service, whether at the bar or in the restaurant part, is excellent, and Mary in the bar always has great recommendations on the catch of the day and fresh seafood arrivals. My husband and were on vacation and took 2 of the kids with us and we thought it was great!! The atmosphere isn't romantic but fun! The Bar was full of locals (very friendly) and the wait staff was great...C.W. (our waitress) was great with the kids and had the perfect recomendations for us!! We are going back to Florida in September and we will for sure be going back to the Whales Rib!!! Pros: Great Food, Wait staff, Atmosphere Cons: none!! more

Have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times - wait staff has always been friendly and on top of their game. Fresh cold oysters on the 1/2 shell - more than likely you will get 14 or so when you order a doz - Try their seafood chowder - Bar area mostly local people but friendly. Parking on A-1-A is a hassle, but there is a full size outside parking lot down the street and near the beach that has a change machine - it's right next to the beach watch/fire station. go approx 1 block South of the Whales Rib - make a left and go approx 1 to 1 1/2 blocks - you can walk along the beach walking back to the restaurant. Not bad for the price. Lunch was better than dinner but it's pretty good compared to the two more expensive newer places futher up the bend on the beach that have limited expensive menus. Pros: Native Seafood, Oysters, Service more

The title about sums it up. The general feeling that I got was that they were doing me a favor by letting me sit there and pay for their overpriced food. Oh, by the way, the oysters on the half shell come stacked on top of one another. Yum! Cons: , bad parking, poor service more
