I joined the club as it was recommended to me by a friend. They have two locations and I chose to work out at the Green Hills club since it was close to my house. The gym was very hot and dark. The Club owners decided to close this gym, so I was forced to drive 15 minutes out of the way to go to the Club at Westside. I could not get out of my contract, as they were able to provide me with another gym within 20 miles!!!!! This gym wasn't terrible except for the overt displays of old men in various forms of undress in the locker room on a regular basis. I once saw an old man drying his privates with a hair dryer with no regard for anyone else. This is beside the point. The real reason why this gym is an awfule place is because of the contract. You can either choose no contract, 1 year, 2 year, or 3 year. The prices drop in accordance with how long the contract term is. Contracts are a normal part of gym memberships, so this is not the big deal. The big deal is when you want to end your membership, you must jump through a few hoops. You must first buy out of the remaining term of your membership. You must then give them a letter stating that you want your contract cancelled, but it would be way to easy to drop it off in person, so they make you send a certified letter. If you fail to or they misplace it, they continue to draft out of your account. If you account has changed, they charge you fees. I have no problem paying what is owed, but having to spend valuable time trying to cancel a membership is not for me. Since this terrible incident, I have joined the YMCA, which is cheaper and has many more locations around Nashville. The facilities are better maintained and the machines are better. The best part is, there is no contract!!
