This clinic saved my precious pet on two occasions. The staff was friendly and the dr knew his stuff! I am so grateful that they are there. Their hours great as well. They are open whenever your vet is closed......holidays, weekends, midnight, whenever. Lifesavers! more

My sweet Scotty - of 14 years - died on the way to West Bank Pet Clinic....but when we got there, the woman was so kind - so efficient (I am sorry I didn't get her name) and took Maddy to the back. The Veterinarian...Dr. Collins-Jackson - tried to resucitate her and offered my husband and I to come back. We agreed that her heart was truly gone, and a shot would be the right thing to do. Dr. Jackson and her assistant could not have been more kind - gave us time alone - all the time we wanted, and then gently gave Maddy a shot so she could sleep and go to heaven. Had to bring a pet of mine there a while back when an emergency arose. The staff was very rude and unfriendly and way over-charged me. Nothing like my regular vet, which are normally very friendly and polite and make you feel welcome there. I wouldn't recommend bringing a pet there, unfortunately a lot of times you have no choice since no other place is open at the time. Because of this, they're able to get away with their shoddy service which is unfortunate. Pros: null Cons: null more

Our dog had 6 beautiful puppies....and of course there was a "runt". He had to be bottle fed since he was about 4 days old, and for the most part was doing ok. Until last night, when he began physically struggling to breath. We called our vet, Marrero Veterinary clinic, and was given the number to Westbank Pet Emergency via recording. Of course, we rushed the little thing, convulsing, to the clinic. When we got there they immediately took him into the back, and shortly, the "vet" on call came out and wanted to know if he'd been dropped or stepped on!!!!!! I don't think we convinced him otherwise !!!! Then he said, oh the pup has birth defects, and all he could do was to put him into an oxygen cage overnight, and give him shots to clear his lungs of fluid....which was something until I could get him to Dr. Walker.....but then oh yea, we had to pick him up the next morning before 7am when they closed....closed? When we picked him up, the "vet" said he needed to stay on oxygen. Now our vet doesn't open until 8:30 ISH and the doc don't get in until sometime between 9 and 10:30....ish. Where in the doubleLL's am I going to get an oxygen cage until 8:30???? Needless to say, my poor little baby died.....I might add a horrible death. Have you ever held a little thing gasping for air until he just couldn't anymore? I would' recommend it or Westbank Pet Emergency Clinic......that'll be $200.00 please. I adopted a 3 1/2 month old puppy from shelter. On Saturday 2 days after we brought him home he starting throwing up and would not eat this continued threw Sunday as well. Sunday night I called a friend who works with animals and she tested him for Parvo he was positive for it. Parvo is a horribly deadly virus that dogs can get from not being vaccinated. Because it was a weekend my normal vet clinic was not open so I brought him to this emergency animal hospital. Vet checked him out and said that he needed to stay in the hospital because he needed an IV and antibiotics. Vet also informed me that because he was such a big dog and because I brought him in soon after symptoms started he had more than a 50% chance that he would be fine. It was a holiday weekend so I had to pick him up Tuesday morning. I called to check on him Monday night and was told that he was doing much better he is wagging his tail and that he was going to be fine. When he was picked up Tuesday morning he was acting a little hype up like he was given some kind of adrenaline (no I do not know this to be factual but can only assume because of what happen next). The vet then said to me that he was a very sick dog and needed to see my regular vet right away. Not 10 min after he was picked up, the dog went completely lifeless. He was breathing but could not move. when I picked him up out of the car he could not even hold his head up it was horrible. That poor dog was in pain and was not going to make it throughout the day.He began throwing up due to him being so weak he could not even move out of it. I then knew what i have never evan wanted to consider doing but i could not leave hime suffer. I called my friend and had him put to sleep. The medicine that they give to put animals to sleep usually takes about 10 minutes to work, when he was administered the drug it took only a few seconds before he was gone. I called this hospital to find out how he could go from doing much better to me having to have him put to sleep in a matter of 8 hours. I was told that he got really bad over night if that is true I want to know why I was not notified I would have had him put to sleep then instead of having him suffer. I was very uneducated as to what parvo was I had never heard of it before so when I was told by the vet a person that should know about this virus that he had more than a 50% chance that he would be ok and being told the night before he was to be picked up that he was doing much better I believed that he was going to be ok, but as you can see that was not the case at all. If a sick dog is given several shots of antibiotics that are suppose to help and all the other things that he was suppose have been given during at least the 24 hours that he was there how did he get worse. I would never bring another animal to this hospital again due to the fact that I do not trust them. Now I know why they make you pay for services before the services are even performed. Paid this hospital hundreds of dollars to help a sick dog which is not what happen they made him worse more

Emergencies happen in the night to both humans and pets. A while back my dog, a very friendly pup who loves to jump and hit glass doors had a very unexpected jump that got her through our sliding glass door. We had a pup bleeding and scared, it was 3 in the morning so we rushed her to the Westbank emergency clinic. There the vet assistant checked us in and then the vet checked our pooch but he said the cut wasn't too bad and could wait til morning to go to our regular vet. They kindly put a bandage to stop the bleeding and sent us home. They said it wasn't worth us spending the money at the emergency clinic since the cut wasn't as bad as we all thought. If an emergency arises this is the place to take you pooch or any pet for that matter more
