I love this store! They specialize in freshwater fishes. The owner is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and helpful. He does breed a lot of the exotic fish. The fish I bring home from here are always robust and healthy. The store's presentation is very simple and straightforward, which I personally like. The inventory in the store is mainly fish, two long aisles lined with display aquariums. They have a great selection of food for your pet fish, including live adult brine shrimp which you just can't find everywhere. Many stores don't want to trouble with raising them and just sell the eggs. If you are looking for either a clean, healthy freshwater fish for a pet or quality live food, this is a cool store well worth checking out. more

I disagree with the previous post. This is a good old fashioned fish fancier store. The owner not only speaks English, but speaks it extremely well. Obviously the previous post is from someone who had never even spoken to the owner and thinks a bigger store means better quality. At any rate, unlike Discount Tropical Fish, which I have been to as well in the same city, West Lake's owner actually breeds the exotic discus and angel fish, different varieties. His fish are all healthy and he's extremely pleasant. I highly recommend anyone serious about fish as pets to come to this wonderful establishment. Prices are fair and if he does not carry the fish or aquarium you are looking for, he will order it for you immediately. I've been coming to this place since I was a little girl with my dad, and you will not find any tropical fish store with such great service and healthy fish anywhere else. There is no smell, there is no puddles of water, everything is neat and the fish are displayed in many small tanks. more

This is a tiny "fish store" located on Whittier Boulevard....you will probably drive past it a hundred times before noticing it. Its really nothing special...the prices are okay, the service is non existant, as I don't think the owner even speaks English. This place is so strange...its just racks of fish, nothing else. more
