Editorial review from Citysearch 10/2/2012

I have been going to this clinic since I was a small child and now that I have my own child, I wouldn't take him, or myself anywhere else! I'm shocked to see all of the negative reviews about this clinic. When we walk in the door, we are welcomed with big smiles and everyone stops what they are doing to say hi (especially to my son). With many health issues for my son in the past, they have been nothing short of amazing to us! They have gone above and beyond to help me with anything I need. I strongly disagree that it has anything to do with your insurance or what kind of insurance you have. There was a point in time that I didn't have any insurance at all, and they did what they could to help us out. I know that OHP is something that is needed at times, but it is difficult for privately owned companies to take OHP (or Medicare) because of the low payments that those insurance companies pay and in the long run the clinics are losing money to the point that if they continue taking those insurances they could risk going bankrupt. So you will find it hard to find any clinics in town that are accepting those insurances due to that reason. (The only ones in town who are accepting those insurances are the ones that are owned by the hospital.) It isn't that they are being mean to you or anything, but they have to keep their business afloat. \r \r Like I said before, this clinic has been nothing but amazing to us. My whole family has actually gone there for as long as I can remember. And I wouldn't trust anyone else with my son. more

So just to let the readers know.. My 3/16/2012

So just to let the readers know.. My daughter was delivered by Robyn Dreibelbis, and was always seen by her. Then we moved away about 6 yrs ago. Now we are back in the area and I was going to sign my daughter up for special olympics, but she needs a check up and an ex ray.(My daughter has Downs) I called West Hills and was told that Robyn was no longer there, and that a new dr. had taken her place. So the receptionist made me an appt (for today) and told me that if I could to come before and pick up paperwork before the appt. Well I totally forgot and called them this morning to see if I could scan/email/ect... the paperwork.. The receptionist this time (a young girl, that does not like her job so it seems) told me that I could not have this appt and had no idea why anyone would ok an appt date before the insurance that I have was approved by a doctor there (I work for a the county, I have excellent insurance by the way) ... I was shocked!! She then said would you like me to email the paperwork over and as soon as it gets approved we can make you an appt... I told her no!!! I just can not believe the poor customer service they are providing.. really it all comes down to MONEY and this office really does not care about the patients!!! Im very disappointed! more

Abondoning Patients-Billing Department Nightmare 12/1/2011

I had more than a decade of treatment at West Hills when they were just starting out. When my insurance was ""top of the line"" I was treated like gold. After a decade I lost good insurance and had to go on OHP. The lovely gal behind the desk whom is extremely rude and degrading told me on my appointment day that I could no longer be a patient. My entire family was seen by this clinic. I said,""excuse me"" after thousands upon thousands of dollars spent and an endless amount of referrals rendered I asked to speak with a doc. I was in the middle of a serious health care crisis and was in shock. He came up and I explained the situation and he okayed my visit. I was at odds with this clinic until my insurance reached an acceptable standard. Insurance determines your treatment from the office staff. The docs were great and compassionate regardless. They built a new beautiful office across the street and that was when the billing department became extremely hard to work with. Over the years I carried a small balance and always made payments. When the new office opened it was pay up or do not come back! Cut and dry with no compassion for any financial hardship. A payment for a balance that my insurance did not cover was due before you could see the doc when you showed up for your appt. If you could not make the payment in full, no service until it was paid off. Very chilling after such a long relationship with extensive healthcare. The new office brought better clientele and us longterm established patients once again were treated poorly. I stayed with them because they did have a wonderful doc that you could not beat. Long story short...shorter...the way some of the docs praticed medicine was ok let's hear your symptoms and a prescription was written whether it be narcotics, benzos or an antibiotic. These serious very addicting drugs came with no discussion of addiction/dependency. Longterm dependent drugs were issued and then after being on them for several months they decided that I was not their calibur of patient. They dismissed me without discussion after repeated attempts and wrote one last prescription for these very addicting drugs with no referral, no offer of treatment if need be, no tapering down for several months and most importantly.....0 compassion. I was ill for several weeks even with tapering instructions and went to a new doc and he looked at my prescription list and was to say the least....astounded and said that this was a prescription for death. He took the time and effort to taper my meds and treat the withdrawl effects out of the compassion and responsibility that every doctor should have. In the longrun this was the best thing that could have happened for my health. I am now off the dependent meds and they have been replaced or removed with a healthier longterm solution in mind. Question what your doc gives you. Ask questions and do not make the mistake of taking anything they throw your way or want to experiment on you. You could end up in a world of hurt with no direction, ill from withdrawls and a difficult time finding another doctor who is willing to see you through. Thank the good Lord, I got lucky. One last comment I promise, is that if you need records for anything, your bill will be ""paid in full"" or the records just simply do not get forwarded. In all fairness their procedures could be much different now because it has been quite some time since this occured. The docs I spoke of are not by any means the entire staff but do your homework. Go to the State of Oregon Licensing Board and check out complaints and notices. more

Five Stars 9/7/2011

I was surprised to see the negative reviews for this office. I have had positive experiences at this office for over 7 years. I find the office staff and the doctors to be caring and friendly. No problems with the billing office, maybe because I have very good insurance and I make a point to pay any outstanding balances on time. I've always found everyone willing to go above and beyond for me. Thank you more

Unfriendly Staff and Too Many Billing Issues! 6/8/2010

I went to West Hills Health Care for several years because I really like Dr. Peasley. I always dreaded calling to make the appointment because the staff was unfriendly. I also got really tired of constantly dealing with the billing department over their errors when I didn't even see them as regularly as the errors would show up to me in the mail.\r \r There were times that I was treated rudely, such as when I was told not to call for my test results because they would call me when they came in. She talked down to me like I was a disobedient child, explaining that I'd already been told that they would take awhile to come in. I waited for 3 more months afraid to call back again, and finally scheduled another appointment for something unrelated just to go in and ask my doctor. She found in the file that my results had been in that entire time.\r \r I had to deal with billing errors more often than I even saw a doctor. Unexplainable things would show up on my bill, things would show up two or three times for one visit, I would have to call and ask my insurance to be billed once or twice before it was done at times, and charges to my accounts would be seperated into chunks that didn't make sense. \r \r I was tired of the cold treatment when I came in. The staff would be cheerfully playing around behind the counter and would wipe the smiles off their faces before dealing with their clients. I heard them gossiping about a client one time and it made me very uncomfortable. I wondered if they would do the same to me, about my very private moments there.\r \r I felt like I was in trouble being there, even while I went through a cancer scare. I am happy to be moving on. No more mono-tone voices handing me clipboards to fill out and telling me to have a seat, when I've been seeing the same face for years, and looking irritated if I ask for an earlier appointment because I just want a little pseudofed and they wouldn't let me order the refill over the phone.\r \r Goodbye West Hills!!!\r \r Pros: Dr. Peasley was great, but she has moved on Cons: I dreaded even having to make my appointment with the staff. more

Watch out for the billing department!!! 8/22/2007

The doctors are excellent 5 star especially mine, doc Elizabeth, but watch out for the cut throat billing department, if your on partial disability they will deny your insurance company any medical records unless the insurance company pays their fees, and here's a happy not they never let the patient you know. happy day, it's a FYI I think everyone should know and yes it's sad, so if you think it's your company, think again it could be this clinic billing department jerking you around. more
