My parents lived at Wellington in ""The Hall"" (independent living) for six years. They absolutely loved everything about it. Their apartment reminded me of a seashore apartment. Mom became very ill two years ago and eventually went to the skilled care section (The Terrace). Her care was 100% excellent. Our family was there so often we knew everyone on the floor by name and they seemed like family. When mom passed away there in 2012, dd pretty soon needed assistnce and moved to the assisted living section (The Court). He thoroughly enjoyed himself there even as his health declined. Last month, a few days before he quietly passed away, I was with him as he played bingo! When dad passed, the entire staff was tryly upset. They had become very close with him.\r \r I would without ANY reservation recommend Wellington! more

After several years of searching for my next home, I chose Wellington Hall for a myriad of reasons. One, I didn't have to sell my house to afford Wellington since the accommodations are provided on a monthly basis. My independent living apartment (1238 sq ft) consists of two huge bedrooms (one to use as an office), two full bathrooms, washer/dryer, complete kitchen with microwave, full size 'fridge' and stove, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Monthly fee includes all taxes and utilities (my own hot water heater, HV/AC, basic cable, electricity) and a full underground garage for all residents. Also included are 20 meals a month (optional). Each apartment has its own patio or balcony (72 sq ft), housekeeping twice a month, plumbing and structural maintenance on demand for no fee. Full telephone and internet access for minimal fee. Second, the migration between independent living to assisted living or nursing care and back again after illness or hospitalization and rehabilitation is facilitated by the caring and energetic staff. Entertainment onsite and offsite via our own bus is a real boon for those no longer able to drive. Third, residents no longer have to pay property taxes, but are eligible for rent rebates from Pennsylvania and are also eligible to deduct a percentage of medical expenses from their individual tax returns!. more

A Very Personal Experience 3/20/2011

My wife has been a resident of Wellington Terrace since June 2010. She arrived with dementia exacerbated by dehydration and infection, both acquired at another skilled nursing facility. A physician at a third facility had advised me that my wife would not get better, but would only get worse and that I should accept that reality! I refused, believing that we could have more than our nearly six decades together! Today, after the professional and caring treatment by the medical staff and others, my sweetheart is talking and responding to questions, eating regular food, and her physical rehabilitation has her starting to use a walker! Some who have seen the change use the term, ""miracle"" I attribute it to the caring ""family"" at Wellington Terrace. The caring Wellington family is all inclusive: the owner-executives and other management often on the floor in resident rooms, dining room, and rehabilitation talking with residents and their families; the doctors, nurses and aides directly involved in the care of residents; and the additional staff needed to keep the enterprise running. I have not observed or met them all, but many I have. With few exceptions, all are truly caring persons. Unlike others I have observed in similar institutions, they do not put on a “caring” mask as they arrive for work and take it off when they leave. The facilities at Wellington Terrace are exceptional. Each private resident room is tastefully decorated with furnishings not unlike one would find at home. Residents are encouraged to add to the decor with furnishings of their own. Residents’ rooms are quiet. Close the door and you are unaware of adjacent residents. Open the door and you are vaguely conscious of the corridor sounds. The therapy facilities, both physical and occupational, are well equipped with a professional, patient, and caring staff. Dining facilities for residents and guests are pleasant with meals individually designed and served to meet each resident’s needs and capabilities by a professional service. Dietitians and therapists closely monitor the food service. Finally, a small beauty salon is there to attend to resident’s needs. Residents’ activities are a major consideration by the staff at Wellington Terrace. A talented and skilled activities staff utilizes music, games (including video games), and exercises to entertain and to enhance residents’ therapy. Artists, entertainers and speakers are often brought in for residents’ benefit and enjoyment. One of my wife’s favorite pleasures at Wellington Terrace in warm weather is to be wheeled outside to the garden in a quadrangle between resident room wings. The flowers, trees and lawns adjacent to the paved walks with benches are most relaxing on a spring or summer afternoon. She particularly enjoys the sights and sounds of the children playing soccer on the school playground a stone’s throw away. A special treat are chimes from the church steeple nearby. Wellington Terrace’s garden is not quite the same as our porch swing at home, but it is the next best thing. As a matter of fact Wellington Terrace is the next best thing to home! more

Happy Parents = Happy Me 2/22/2011

My parents moved into Wellingon at Hershey's Mill almost three years ago and both they and I quickly came to realize it was the best decision they could have made. The buildings are clean and well kept, the activities are plentiful and interesting, the restaurant and bistro are generally first rate. Almost without exception, eveyone on staff seems to care and to take pride in what they do. When my dad's health failed last year and he had to move over to Wellington Terrace (the skilled nursing facility) he was treated with dignity during his final days, which meant more to my family than words can describe. I recommend Wellington -- highly and without hesitation. more

From the management of Wellington 2/14/2011

We at Wellington have always exceeded the staffing required by our licensing agencies. Unfortunately, sometimes people have unrealistic expectations as to what is to be provided, which is determined by the regulations. Our waiting list for independent, assisted living/personal care and skilled nursing/rehab reflects a high level of satisfaction and a good reputation. The Centers for Medicare Services awarded the skilled nursing facility a 5 star rating. This honor was given to only 3 nursing homes in Chester County. more

The life care facility is very understaffed and doens't respond to patient needs. The food was good, but since a new chef was brought in several years ago, it's gone down hill. Management will listen to complaints, but does little. Pros: facilites are clean and well appointed Cons: walls/floors are paper-thin, life care, being heard more
