After nearly 40 years as an internist specializing in sports medicine Dr. Stephen Weil announced his retirement February 2008. Dr. Weil, originally from Brooklyn, New York, came to Oregon while in the Army. He fell in love with the people and the wide open spaces. An avid runner (and finisher of almost 40 marathons!) Dr. Weil was relatable to both the weekend warrior and the elite athlete. He was proud of his New York Jewish heritage; you either loved him or didn't get his sense of humor. As a sole practitioner he gladly gave his patients his personal home number so they knew they could always reach him in an emergency. Dr. Weil loved helping people and continuing doing house calls, unheard of in this day and age, up until the end of his medical career. In January 2008 Dr Weil was diagnosed with Lymphoma and sadly had to give up practicing medicine. He is now a two year cancer surviver; celebrating life everyday in Lake Oswego, Oregon. more

If you do go to Dr. Weil, or his office, go in prepared to say NO to expensive tests (unless you need them, of course.) I went to his office inexperienced with what tests are needed for a healthy young person. i let them do all the test they wanted, without questioning them (because i didn't know what was typical or normal) but THEN I GOT MY BILL! this was just supposed to be a yearly checkup. NOT $400.00. (after insurance paid for the typical Checkup costs!) i consulted with another doctor and he said the tests were totally excessive and not needed for a healthy young lady like myself. I sent a letter to his office explaining that i thought the test were excessive (with 2 references. a doctor and a nurse practitioner) but they were totally unwilling to lower my costs or help me out. they reported me to a collection agency. i do NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Weil or his office. Dr. Stephen Weil is a wonderful doctor but the service I have received from the front desk staff has motivated me to start looking for another doctor. They have been both rude and unhelpful, in person and on the phone, to the point where I am going to stop going to see a great doctor. For anyone who can stand poor service and a snobby attitude, Dr. Weil is great. more

Dr. Weil is fantastic. He is quick but thorough and uses humor to relate to his patients. He has a genuine concern for his patients well being. His office is pretty hectic and its impossible to see him in the afternoon as he only works mornings. His nurses are great but the front office help is a little snippy and not so good on the phones.
