Don't let the glitzy appearance fool you. When I first arrived here in Sept., I thought I was in for a real treat with this store. I fell in love with it at first. But like a bad date you find out what’s really there & it isn't much.
Organics are not much more than an after thought. [If you believe in natural foods, you will not like this place.] Ex: Organic flower (biggest bag: 2 lbs); All organic meats are sealed in plastic & thrown in a little box & the selection is paltry. They don't sell organic ground beef! I asked about it & they did nothing. The deli brand selection is not good. Columbus Brand is an inferior product line to Boar's Head. There are no Columbus organic meats...
Poorly organized or overkill: Wegmans has at least four milk stations scattered around the store; juices, olives, salsa, & cookies are all over the place. Cereals? It looks like they have much to offer but then look at the shelves. Some brands like Cheerios take up 7-8 rows & possibly another shelf of the same above it!
Sushi? I tried it several times thinking that it was a bad day or bad sushi chef, no; it’s just bad sushi.
Why 2 stars: The Wegmans Brand is below average. Cheese tastes like plastic; green olives: salty as the Dead Sea; I could go on. There are a lot of everyday items I used to use but they are not offered here. Wegmans on some items blatantly monopolize their product line by providing a limited line of alternates. If they say, “just ask us & we will get it;” come on, it will be a big laundry list. Oh, I did ask…
Wegmans card: I spend an average of $150 per trip & my savings using their card is typically $2 - $4!
I feel like cattle being herded around from one area to the next weaving around biggie sized carts on every turn. I watched an employee bump off a produce item on the floor; he looked at the item & me & kept walking…
On a positive note, I do like the fresh bread & produce selection (need more organics). The restaurant in the store is really nice & enjoyable where you can get a nice fish dish or steak burger & a glass of wine at close to grocery prices. They have their own sheltered parking garage & separate wine store! Check out is awesome for the massive amount of people that frequent this store & I do appreciate it.
I do miss my old grocery store & hope the Harris Teeter store opening soon & much further away will make me happy about grocery shopping again. I have been to the Whole Foods Store & like it better but it is pricey & therefore not my everyday item store. I hope to edit this article later on with good news that Wegmans is listening.
Pros: Mass Quantities of Items
Cons: Selection is Pathetic
