Best in Winter Park 9/27/2010

I may be biased, but the Sushi Chefs at Wazzabi don't mess around. They are professional and create mouth watering sushi rolls. My favs are the Dynamite, Spicy Tuna, Chef's Roll, Wazzabi Roll (Mmm!), Sunshine Roll and Heaven Roll. Pair a roll with your favorite wine or beer and you're in for a treat! Sometimes the run happy hour specials, but call before just to be sure. more

Great Atmosphere 11/21/2007

The sushi at Wazzabi isn't the best sushi i've ever had but it does come pretty close. What's excellent about Wazzabi is that they have an actual singer playing music. The entire restaurant is surrounded by soothing accoustic music. Nothings more relaxing and enjoyable than that. \r \r The only thing I don't like about the place is that everyone's so cramped up together. The tables are so close that i can't help but hear what the neighboring table is talking about. This can cause quite a distraction. \r \r Other than that, I would still recommend this place for a nice meal with the significant other. Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Service Cons: Needs more leg room more

Sushi Galore!!! 5/2/2007

If you want Sushi with a gourmet twist, visit Wazzabi!!! I've been to Nobu in NYC and many other sushi notables, but Wazzabi has the best sauces and creative combinations. Try all the Chef rolls like I've done and have a palate sensation. The staff is very accomodating!!! All of the senses are brought to bear, with taste, texture, tantilizing smell and twisted tradition. Love the iced Green Tea; the attentive service borders almosts borders on pesty, but not quite!!!! For non-sushi folks, there's the Tempiani Japanese Grill. My parent's loved the grilled filet mignon and lobster, as well as the entertaining technique. Multiple birthday parties, at early bird special time, added to the celebratory time. Who can resist 11 year old girls and boys fully mesmerized!!!!! more

good interior, bad service, bad sushi, good tuna 4/13/2007

At first I really liked the place, very nice style, if you sit outside you get to enjoy nicely decorated area.\r It took server 30 minutes to bring us the miso soup appetizer, we ordered Sake but never got it. And it is not like the restaurant was very busy. When they brought me the sushi I realized what took them so long: chef had to run to Publix to get the sushi, because really there are no difference in taste!\r My friend ordered seared tuna and told me it tasted very good. But we decided not to come back there, as service this poor really ruins the experience. Pros: decoration Cons: food, service very slow more

Move over Amura! 3/12/2007

I used to go to Amura for Japanese but grew tired of their menu. Wazzabi offers consistantly good food and fun cocktails in a modern environment at amazing prices. Only pitfall might be the noise level and the wait for the table which can be easily avoided by dining earlier than 7pm.\r Best sushi rolls we had so far: wazzabi crunch roll, candy cane roll, spicy octopus rolls. Pros: free valet parking Cons: noisy at times/long wait for a table at peak hours/no reservations accepted except for the tappanyaki room more

Not consistent 10/24/2006

We went there twice for sushi, ordered mostly raw fish. The first time, the sushi was very good and we went back last weekend on a sunday and the sushi was not the same. The fish tasted good but the rice was tasteless. I don't know if the sunday staff is different from other nights but the same person couldn't have prepared the sushi in the second visit.\r \r We also noticed that almost all of the patrons ordered non-sushi plates, I don't know if Wazzabi is better known for Japenese food in general excluding sushi.\r \r One hing for sure, we're not going again. We'll pay the same price at a much better, consistently good place. more

Enjoyable 9/14/2006

What a nice surprise this place was. Tucked away on a side street makes it easy to miss but since a friend had told me about ""a great new sushi place,"" we had to try it. He was right on. Service was good and the selections were varied and fresh. Good variety of items to choose from so if you want something other than sushi you can certainly get it. Hard to find anything to complain about here. We enjoyed it and will be back. Pros: Great sushi Cons: Located on a side street more

Impressed! 7/24/2006

I just tried this place for the first time and it was amazing. With my predelictions for noticeably above-average service, original makimono ingredients, and unique ambiances, this place met the mark on every level. I make it a point to try sushi from all local sushi bars. My long-standing favorites include Amura (downtown or Sanford) and Seito (WP Village). I wouldn't have thought it possible but this place ranks right up there with them or above... The Heaven Roll was particularly yummy (and good-sized like most of the specialty rolls). The only downside (to me) is the semi-mandatory complimentary valet parking. Pros: Excellent, original makimono with interesting ingredients, large portion sizes Cons: No self-parking, limited waiting area, reservations recommended for later dining (8 pm) on weekends more
