I went in for an IPL photofacial that I purchased from Living Social. I have fair skin with a little sun damage, but nothing major, and was told I was a good candidate for this procedure. On the plus side, the aesthetician was very nice. She had the receptionist come in before she started, to show me her hands, on which she'd had IPL done a couple of days before. It looked like she had pepper sprinkled on the backs of her hands. I was told this is the sun damage coming to the surface, an essential part of the process that occurs a couple of days after the procedure, and it would happen to my face, and when it did, to let the spots disappear on their own.
The procedure itself felt like rubber bands snapping, as she had told me it would; however, afterward, there was no difference whatsoever; not so much as one tiny black dot on the surface of my skin, and no change in the pigment that I can see. I understand that more than one session is needed, but I was told ahead of time that each session would produce some result. This wasn't the case; it was as if I'd had nothing done. On the plus side, my skin wasn't damaged, but I might as well have flushed the money I paid for it down the toilet. Very disappointing.
