Worst

We used to come here every weekend and recently We noticed they increase the price but the food quality is not as good as it used to be and I have never see any high end restauran...

The best there is! 1/8/2003

For the novice or experienced.... Waraji is simply the finest Japanese (in general) and Sushi (in particular) Restaurant on the east coast. I've tried many... even in San Francisco, and not found a retaurant in this league. Exceptionally helpful and friendly management and staff. Highly, Highly Recommended! more

delicious sushi 1/7/2003

We love to come to Waraji for sushi and sashimi. Food from the kitchen is also tasty! Try the tatami room for the complete experience. A real thumbs up!!! more

outstanding sushi all the time! 1/7/2003

Always fresh, always tasty, always friendly. A favorite hangout for this West Coast transplant! Try the Hurricane roll! YUM! Pros: GREAT FOOD Cons: BEER;SAKE;WINE ONLY more

never again... 1/5/2003

I went here once and one time is the only time I will ever go. I went on a special night - BAD FISH NIGHT! Talk about a nightmare. Good thing I didn't have any other plans that night cause I spent it in the bathroom. Thanks but no thanks. more

Delightfully different 12/28/2002

Our first experience at this resturant. We found through City Search. Our dinner was a great change from the usual. My teriyaki was wonderful. My husband loved his sushi. The Tempura was good, although slightly oily. The service was friendly and attentive. We will go back. more

Fresh is Best 12/2/2002

One of the best in Raleigh. Kanki and Waraji are both very good - it is hard to pick a winner. It is a good problem to have. Pros: fresh, selection Cons: not open Mondays, location more

No comparisons: The Best 11/22/2002

Waraji is by far the best sushi restaurant in the triangle. Plus, for non-sushi fans, the Udon noodles are terrific! If you're thinking of sushi, don't even entertain notions of the other places! Waraji rules! Pros: Inexpensive, Terrific food more

The best since moving to North Carolina 11/21/2002

Exceptional Service. Loved the fried Tofu. My mouth is watering now just thinking about the sushi. Pros: Waite Staff, Good selection Cons: Can get crowed, Bright Lights more

Great Catch 11/11/2002

Great Service, Great Food. Try the New York Roll and the Shawny Roll. more

Best Around 11/10/2002

Definitely the best in Raleigh! Better than Sushi Blues, Kanki, Sushi Thai, etc. Sushi is always fresh and service is impeccable. I highly recommend Waraji! Pros: super fresh sushi Cons: not open on Mondays more

All Sushi Fans Should Try Waraji 11/10/2002

I can't recommend Waraji enough - it has been the best overall sushi experience I have had to date. (Including Raleigh, Philadelphia, San Franciso and Los Angeles) The combination of fresh food, friendly and helpful chefs and a solid selection of food (including non-sushi) can't be beat. My only 'warning'? Service can be a little slow when it's packed, especially on the weekends. Go early or go during the week and you shouldn't have any problems getting seated quickly. (Oh and make sure you try the seared yellowtail.) more

The Best! 11/8/2002

I have eaten sushi all over US and this is the best. Great service, great food, great atmosphere, & great for just two or large groups! Never been disappointed Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: nothing more

Love it! 10/21/2002

Incredible sushi, awesome appetizers, great service!!! I highly recommend it! more

Sushi Lovers go here. 10/5/2002

I ate here last week for the first time. The two guys below me said it best. Sushi Breeze and Waraji and the two places to spend your money. If you want a downtown night life atmosphere, sushi breeze, If your looking for a reputable, creative, and popular Sushi Restaurant, go to Waraji....both are great and both deserve credit for being excellent. more

Waraji is One of the Best 9/30/2002

I must concur with most people here, Waraji is overall excellent sushi! They get an A+ for creative rolls and i like the big pieces personally! i don't want to pay $4.00 for two pieces of tuna i can barely taste......bring on the big pieces, i think that is what makes it so good!! Keep up the good work Pros: creative rolls, fresh fish, nice portions Cons: pricey(but it's sushi, tuna, at times, off more

Oh yeah, right... 9/20/2002

I'm constantly amazed...with the odor of curing latex paint still hanging in the air; your poll declares ""Sushi Blues"" to be the nonpariel of the genre in our area! They've been open for what...a month!? Obviosly their patrons have more free time on their hands to submit ballots than the customers of Waraji whom endure long waits at every visit. Waraji's nightly lines are testament enough as to this restaurant's popularity. An ever changinging fare and the dedication of Chefs Masa and Kazu to provide the best authentic Japanese menu possible, push them well past local imitators. Pros: clean beyond norm., fresh quality: high, menu variety excel. Cons: long lines for 5years, difficult parking lot, reservations 6+only more

No more wimpy nigiri! 8/28/2002

Waraji's, while a little noisy, definitely has the best sushi in town. The atmosphere may lack and is not as ""trendy"" as some other local places, but they have a wide variety of rolls, sushi and sashimi and give you thicker ""slices"" and ""better quality"" fish compared to other sushi restaurants. I especially like that fact that their rolls to don't fall apart from the plate to your mouth! There's an area where you can sit on the floor if you want a more ""authentic"" experience, but I prefer the table and chairs or the sushi bar... Pros: Decent Prices, Quality Food, Quick Service Cons: Noisy, Too Bright more

cool place 8/27/2002

I recently ate here for the first time and was most impressed by the attitude of the chefs. They served up some of the best sushi in the triangle. I like this place and will come back often. Pros: fresh fish, friendly chefs Cons: bland atmosphere more

Nothing Fishy about Waraji. 8/25/2002

Great sushi. The best in the triangle. Try the Spider roll. more

You have to be there 8/22/2002

It is a wonderful place for a family dinner. I would choose the restaurant for a romantic dinner as well. Pros: Nice and friendly Cons: Too crowdy more
