My wife and i eat there occasionally and often comment that we should return more frequently since the food is fabulous and the atmosphere is authentic, quiet, and inviting. In my opinion the food there is the best Chinese that we have found in the greater Charlotte area!!!!! Pros: Everyting we tried there has been top knotch more

Family restaurant part 2 3/9/2009

From the outside d??cor it looked really inviting and authentic. The entrance bar reminded me of a sports bar with T.V. The ladies bathroom was filthy and in very poor condition. The menu was plentiful and the manager likes to help you decide what to eat. The food was ok. The service pleasant. Would not rush back here more

Not a good place to go for a date with your husband. It's not a romantic place and the music was awful. The food was ok. more

no value or respect for customers 5/14/2007

We also visited Wan Fu on Mother's Day. We called to make a reservation and they said they could seat us around 7p. When we got there, there was a bit of a wait. We were seated and we promptly ordered appetizers and kids meals. About 15 minutes later, we ordered our main dishes. Around 8:00p we flagged a waiter and inquired about the food and were told that they would bring everything together. We said that we wanted the appetizers and kids meals first, not all at once. 10 min later we got 1 appetizer. 10 min later we got 2 appetizers (one was incorrect so they took it away and replaced it 10 min later). Now its 8:30p and we've been there 90 min. The kids are frantic and starved. We asked again about the food and were assured it was on its way (they explained the kitchen was overwhelmed and the tickets were filled when they were filled). We suggested they should have told us they could not handle the orders (the restaurant was busy but not unusually so - similar to a Friday or Saturday night - certainly not the crowds you would expect at other Charlotte restaurants on Mother's Day) when we called to make reservations or when we were waiting for a table (good restaurants do). We spoke with management to let them know this was not the way to handle customers, especially ones with children! After some discussion, he agreed to discount our food 15% even though that was not our goal - we simply wanted them to acknowledge that they had made several errors and had treated us poorly. We did finally receive our food after 9:00p Sure, it tasted decent but at that point, we would have eaten paper. The children did not eat ( was past their bedtimes and they became sleepy ). We just boxed up the items and left. Our bill did not have any reduction in price as promised (people should mean what they say) and when we left, we spoke to management. They were only concerned that we had paid the bill, and did not want to listen to any of our comments. I will not eat there again. Pros: South Charlotte location Cons: attitude of owners and employees more

Worst Service - Uncaring staff, not Kid- Friendly! 5/13/2007

We went to Wan Fu on Mother's day. We were 11 in all with 6 kids ages 4 to 7. While the restaurant eagerly sat us upstairs and took our orders initially (7pm), it was almost an 1.5 hr before we even saw any appetizers brought to the table(8:30pm). If there is a parent reading this review, you probably know what I am talking about!. We waited another half hour (9pm) and stood up and went downstairs to leave the restaurant. The manager then insisted that the food was already on our table upstairs and requested us to be seated while offering a discount for the bad service. The food came about 25min later (9:25pm)- (funny, we were told it was waiting on the table)!! We were then promptly handed the bill for the food with gratuity built-in already ( no mention of the discount the manager had offered). We did not even receive an apology from the manager on our way out!!! This restaurant does not understand customer service! more

Best Food Ever!!!!! 4/30/2007

The customer service is exceptional, and the food is excellent. It's very pretty inside too. If you haven't been before, you should go. You will be impressed for sure. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

The better chinese restaurant 2/3/2007

We discovered this place ""accidentally"" - and are lucky about that.\r The whole stuff is very friendly and they do a really good job. \r \r The food is delicious, very nice and showy prepared - and you don't have to wait too long. The wines are very good and served with the right temperature.\r \r It's not the cheapest restaurant in town, but it's worth it. \r For example: 1 appetizer, 3 Entrees, 2 softdrinks, 2 red wine, 3 cakes and tip made 100$. \r \r I definitley do recommend this restaurant! Pros: service, food Cons: Adjustment is a little bit dated more

Charlotte's Best Authentic Chinese 7/31/2005

Wan Fu is the real deal. Although Charlotte has the trendy chinese bistros (some of which are owned by Wan Fu), Wan Fu offers better food, that is more authentic, for a reasonable price. Although the place is not cheap, it's not overly expensive and you get what you pay for with the large portions. Service is always top notch, and the presentation is wonderful. This is the better place to take a date, as Wan Fu is semi-dark and not loud and busy like the other places. Give the place a shot, you'll be impressed. Pros: Ambience, Presentation, Service Cons: Somewhat Pricey more

no garlic 8/6/2002

I like garlic, but i freaked out when they recently tried to change the sauce for the dumplings. I lov ethis place and eat there frequently. Actualyl all of my firends eat there and we are there usualy at a minimum twice a week. I am sad they changed the stuffed lettue wraps. I liked the old style better, but he new is still great. Pros: eggrolls rock, nice staff, great ambience Cons: changing recipes more
