I would not recommend this venue. I hope that you have nothing but happy memories of your wedding. Unfortunately, I did not. I feel that some of my happy wedding memories were stolen from me. Here is why.\r \r Two weeks before my wedding I did a second walk through of the grounds, selected my menu and selected my linens. This was the second appointment to do this because they did not bother to show up for the first appointment. While doing the walk through something told me to have him cut the lights on in the garden as I was to have my wedding at night in the garden and lights would be useful. You guessed it, the lights were not working. I informed the owner Mac that he would need to have it repaired before my wedding day and he assured me he would. One would think that two weeks is more than enough time to have an electrician come out to make the repairs but as I arrived at the Wagner House on my wedding day, Mac informed me that the lights were not working and suggested that I relocate the ceremony inside. The inside is beautiful but in my opinion not large enough to have a ceremony and reception for the amount of guest I had. He was not able to get them working in time for my wedding so, my wedding was in a beautiful garden under a gazebo with only the lights from a few candles, most of which I provided to illuminate the entire garden. My pastor had a difficult time seeing the vows, my guest said although it was romantic, they had a hard time seeing us and were not able to get any pictures worth printing out. I had a hired photographer but due to being on a tight budget was unable to hire a videographer so, I asked a family member to record the ceremony using my personal Sony video camera.\r Unfortunately, due to the lack of lights it was not visible. \r Also,I paid them extra to purchase two bottles of a specific wine to have placed on the bridal table. Come to find out they only purchased one bottle of the wine I asked for and never put it out on the bridal table. \r \r The owner Mac apologized for all the issues (I didn't tell you all of them) and offered to let us come back anytime to retake pictures and give us a discount the next time we wanted to use their venue. He also offered to give anyone I referred to them a discount. So let me get this straight, you want me to spend more money having my hair and make up done, renting another tux for my husband and paying a photographer to take pictures that should have been captured the first time. For my inconvenience I should send more business their way! You have got to be kidding me. \r The owners Brenda and Mac were very friendly and I truly believe they felt bad for not providing the ultimate wedding experience but I can never get that day back.\r more

I was quite delighted to experience brunch today at The Wagner. Southern charm and elegance with delicious food. Wonderful baked items, fresh fruit, delicious chicken entree, bacon, sausage, banana nut pancakes and so much more. The owner and staff were quite friendly and even gave us a tour of the house. Quite a gem to enjoy..the only problem with this venue is that they are only open to the public for Sunday brunch. more

One word….AMAZING!!!!! My baby shower was held there this weekend to celebrate our Baby Boy!!! This was no ordinary Baby Shower…the Wagner staff made this a full blown, over the top EVENT!!!! Every detail was absolutely fabulous! Everything was great from the catered lunch to the blue punch… it was fantastic! All of our guests were blown away…everyone kept saying that it was the best baby shower they had ever been too!!! We have also been to several of their Sunday Brunches and they are equally as great! The food is always excellent. The staff and the new owners are so accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend the Wagner House for any event….the owners are great with customizing exactly what you want!!!!! more

The Wagner House 9/17/2011

My Nice had her wedding tat the Wagner house and she was very sorry she did, when she gave the lady owner her 2nd and last deposit, My niece ask her a couple of questions and the owner lady replied.... YOU HAVE NO CLASS!!! my poor niece left in tears and told her fiance, he was beyond him self. the owner lady said the money is non refundable. so the couple sucked it up and went with the flow. my niece paid for all beverages. and buffet style luncheon and she and the Wagner House from 3:00 to 7:00pm. when all the guessed started to arrive the owner man would not let any one in the front main door? he kept telling people to go to the back of the house to come in. when I heard this I flipped. so I took charge and stood by the door and stared to let people in. the owner man said No your letting all the air condition out. I had told him this place is rented from 3:00 till 7'00 pm and the guest are suppose to enter through the front door? that's the beautiful entrance. and I heard a ruckus over by the cake table so I told my husband the problem and he took over the door situation. the owner lady was trying to get the girl who my husband and I hired to make my niece wedding cake, to put a stand of some kind under the cake? we had told her it wouldn't hold up because the 4 tier cake it made with fondant and its very heavy. so the owner lady lashes out and says she has been making cakes for 30 years and we are weather we like it or not the stand is going under the cake. after this owner lady left the room Margo and my self (Donna) carefully lifted up the cake and pulled out the stand. the stand was rusty and yellowish. when she came back she asked who removed the stand and I spoke up and said I did now what????. she just walked away. so now it's time to eat and OMG this tops it all. as everyone gets in line for the buffet a few people including me grabbed a large plate. there were small plates on the table and off to the side there were large plates. so i thought in stead of going back and forth I could try one of every thing and fit it on one plate. well, some other people thought of the same thing and the owner lady grabbed there plates and said this isn't dinner and a snack buffet. so she literally grabbed the plate with the food on it and took it way. this happened to 3 different people? including my Mom. as this was going on I asked for a cup of coffee. they said they don't serve coffee. Say What??? I went to the Bride and told her and she freaked out. and the owner lady refused to server coffee with the cake even though they paid for all beverages with there deposit. she maid my nieces wedding day a living hell. and believe me that's not all during dinner they turned off the air conditioning and it was 98 that day. we said something and she walked away. I'm going to tell you something folks, this lady and man who own the Wagner House are very bitter and miserable people. after you give them your full deposit then they show there colors. there are plenty of other places you can have your reception at. but I'm warning you. I wouldn't go to the Wagner house she is mean and deceitful. Thank Donna F more

Beautiful Place, Not So Beautiful Experience 6/9/2009

Great experience. Pros: Stunning gardens, beautiful house Cons: Disorganized and not customer oriented more

NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. GO TO THE MEMORIAL GARDEN AT WRAL. 8/14/2008

I HAD A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE AS WELL WITH BRENDA. I NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO REHEARSE OR EVEN HAD A WEDDING. MY FIANCE HAD GOT SERIOUSLY ILL. WE DID NOT MARRY. SHE WOULD NOT REFUND ANY OF OUR MONEY EITHER. DURING THE TIME OF OUR WEDDIND IT DID NOT DISCLOSED NO REFUNDS. I AM STILL THINKING ABOUT CALLING THE NEWS ON HER. BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT, OR SHOULD I SAY PUSHING A PEN, DAMN SURE IS NOT WORTH A FOUR HUNDRED DOLLAR DEPOSIT. more

Owners rude 2/16/2007

Overall, the owner and her husband are rude. They ignored our color requests for decorations so our wedding colors clashed. If you are a business the hosts wedding/receptions, you should not decorate with too many colors and schemes so the surroundings compete with the wedding colors. By the time we figured out they weren't going too change anything it was too late. They also added some horrible murals to the walls after we had already booked. \r During the wedding rehearsal and reception the owner was rude to and even yelled at guests. The owner's husband/bartender refused to run a tab for my husband for the cash bar. We paid for food that we didn't get and got food that we didn't want that was leftover from a tradeshow! Some of the kitchen staff actually came up after we cut the cake and jumped in the cake line, got huge pieces for themselves and went back to the kitchen before guests were finished being served!!!!\r I know everyone thinks brides are crazy but I was an extremely easy going bride!! They seriously lack in the customer service department. The food however, was good.\r There is actually a whole list of issues I have but only so much time. In short, if I had to do it again I would find another wedding venue. Pros: food good, more affordable than other palces, Cons: owner rude, tacky decorations, overall a disappointment more

uncaring 3/28/2006

When our son lost his job within a few days of giving the deposit she refused to return any of it or even consider his situation. Cons: uncaring more
