I discovered Decatur's jewel, Voila, one rainy Sunday. Their sidewalk sign ""Beignets"" seemed just right . 1/24/2009

My first visit, of many to follow, was prompted by the ""Beignet"" sign near the street. I had visited New Orleans in the past, and a Beignet seemed the perfect comfort food on the rainy Sunday. The Beignet was just like the ones in New Orleans....and I soon became a regular. Not only is the food deliciious, the prices are perfect for this watch my budget times. I often chat with other regulars that are also drawn to the personal attention the owner and staff offers. Pros: Great food, great prices, personal service more

Bleah, sadly. 5/3/2008

Although the specialty is beignets, as advertised in neon letters in the window, they are not at all fun to eat. I usually like beignets, but here they seem more like greasy, limp eggroll wrappers while the hot chocolate was beige, very unchocolatey and cloyingly sweet. I would not recommend either of these. I had ordered a plate of 6 beignets with my husband. We each had a couple of bites and gave up on them. I think the decor, which is not bad, is their strong point. more

Great Food 4/12/2008

At our table we had a variety of items including beignets, a salad, sandwich, soup and an omelot. Everyone enjoyed there food and there was little left on our plates. We will be back. Thank you. more

Best Chicken Alfredo! 9/24/2007

This restaurant has THE BEST chicken alfredo!!! Do not be alarmed if you cannot find it on the menu, you must order it by special request. Because this dish does not keep to the continuity of the restaurant's french theme it is not technically on the menu. However because Voila mantains a friendly atmosphere and enjoys seeing their customers happy they'll def. cook up the kind of chicken alfredo that keeps you coming back for more! Cons: I cannot stay there forever and eat! more

Amazing Food in a great romantic atmosphere 9/12/2007

WOW!! I thought that I had tasted good food until last week. The staff worked hard to give me an amazing meal. \r I would recommend the chicken with mustard cream sauce and a glass of well priced wine. Then finish off the meal with an order of beingets with berry sauce. My date ordered the Tilapia served on a bed of shoepeg corn and loved it. Don't forget to try a cup of the gumbo to start. This is a great place for a romantic date. Pros: Food and wine Cons: parking more

Good, reasonable and friendly 9/11/2007

As a bachelor, I am always looking for a place that has good food (that I did not have to cook!) and offers a friendly and homey experience. Voila does this. The food is cooked when you order - nothing sitting for hours on a hot plate - and the wine list is great with reasonable prices and wide selection. If you are looking for a reasonable price and pleasant surroundings this is the place. Oh, yes, and they now are having jazz artists on Sunday evenings - a nice way to end the weekend. Pros: atmosphere and food Cons: parking in the entire area more

Great Cajun/French Find 7/17/2007

Recently my husband and I happened upon this place when its next door neighbor Watershed had a long line. It was a great find and now I'm glad Watershed was booked. The food was excellent and the service top notch. We will definitely be going back. Pros: Food, Friendly Service Cons: Nothing more

HORRIFIC EXPERINCE 3/3/2007

THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!! While the service was amazing, it was not enough to counteract the atrocious food that arrived to the table. The plate presentation was amazing but the food itself was beyond disgusting. The rice was undercooked and cold, as opposed to the stuffed chicken that was overcooked and dry. My wife, in turn, ordered shrimp pasta. The shrimp having an ocean-like taste and the alfredo sauce being seasoned improperly was problematic, causing our date at this ?romantic? spot everything but congenial. My wife and I are not the type to complain to management about food that should have been properly prepared before reaching our dinner table. I can say that we will never go back! It?s no wonder why everyone seemed to walk past Voila in what seems to be a hurry to get to The Watershed (the major competitor connected to Voila). Maybe my wife and I should have joined the bandwagon and saved fifty-five dollars! Pros: fast seating...service was good Cons: Parking lot was full but no one was dining at Voila more

Great ambience, good food, great service 11/23/2006

Terrible 10/10/2006

Terrible service. Waitress was rude and never brought refills or condiments. Slow as Christmas. Food was cold and not even what we ordered. more

Pleasing to Palette & Pocket! 6/14/2006

I live and work in Decatur and own my own business. Since I'm always pressed for time but want to eat well, Voila is -- Voila! -- the answer to my prayers. I've frequented Voila many times since they opened about 4 months ago, usually for quick lunches or take-home dinners --and the food is consistently fresh, well-prepared, delicious & perfectly seasoned -- AND you can either sit down inside the quaint cafe (the atmosphere is cozy, low-key yet upscale, the ambience comfortable and inviting), out on the small open-air patio (great for people-watching or just taking a breather), or take it to go (if you're really in a hurry, you can either call ahead to pre-order, then come pick up when ready, or choose from several popular pre-prepared take-out entrees and side dishes that are made fresh daily and kept cool, ready-to-go & visible in a refrigerated glass case).**********\r \r **********From appetizers (the satiating, light yet creamy squash soup -- warm or cool -- is soothingly divine; the 5-cheese/sundried tomato spread w/crostini, delectable) to salads (the Voila signature house salad consists of greens, goat cheese, cranberries, walnuts, grapes, and pears bathed in a harmonious balsamic vinaigrette) to sandwiches (the chicken salad sandwich is hefty and complex, punctuated with apples, walnuts, grapes, and celery, and accented with tarragon; veggie croquettes -- available either a la carte or as a wrap sandwich are enhanced with a delightfully addictive Indian herb sauce) to entrees (herb-crusted tilapia served w/accompanying rice pilaf and green salad or a quarter roast chicken served w/ accompanying apple & potato gratin and green salad), the choices are pleasing to both the palate AND the wallet (an astoundingly affordable $5-$12!)\r \r **********All sandwiches and burgers (they offer both beef and a yummy black bean-veggie option) come with either tangy slaw or fried potatoes -- and btw, these aren't like french fries at all, but more like Greek potatoes without the grease -- fresh, hand-diced into small squares and pan-sauteed, vegetables (grilled or steamed), and a choice selection of beverages (from premium bottled waters, sodas, lemonade and juices to gourmet coffee, beer and wine), as well as scrumptious desserts from the renowned Southern Sweets Bakery, round out the mouth-watering menu.\r \r **********I usually sleep in and hibernate on Sundays, so I haven't had a chance to try their Sunday brunch yet, but I hear it is absolutely amazing. Also, the boxed gourmet toffee for sale near the cash register is the only pricey (yet worth every penny) thing here -- it is to-die-for-scrumptious, and somehow -- amazingly, implausibly -- doesn't stick to your teeth at all!\r \r \r \r more
