as you can read in another one of my reviews - i attended the childbirthing class with the VNA - and then signed up to have home visits after my son was born...you can keep having these visits for quite some time after your child is born - although i only had mine for the first 4 months or so...it was nice though - a pleasant nurse would come to my house and i could ask her about any questions or anything i was nervous about...mine helped me figure out my pump - answered a few questions that i felt silly calling the doctor about - was able to see where my son slept and calm my fears about that....depending on your income and/or your insurance the fees vary - but it is a great thing to have! more

first to clarify - i'm not sure if you have to be low-income or not for this class (most of the people in my class were) but i'm pretty sure that they'd take anyone...but anyways on to my review -- i signed up for this class to learn as much as i could before i had my son (and although i knew much of the stuff she presented, my so learned quite a lot)....if i remember right it was about a 4 week long class - just held once a week on a tuesday night and each night we would get different handouts, about different aspects of labor or childcare...she taught our partners about how to help us breathe, how to rub our backs during labor....another great things about this class is they give you a carseat (it's not an infant one, but the rear facing one for once they are about 23 lbs or so)....i loved this class & i met one of my closest friends through it! (we delivered a day apart!) more
