Vip Marina At Volente Beach

We set up a rental for Labor Day and were not impressed with this rental company overall. When we arrived we were greeted by someone at the front entrance collecting $7 to park, which we were not told about in advance. It was actually another company charging this fee to park. Confusing. We then got down to our boat which was dirty with trash wrappers and seemed to have not been cleaned at all, since it was last rented. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes for the right key to be found, which ended up not working on this boat. The boat ignition seemed to be functioning incorrectly, so we told them we didnt feel comfortable taking that boat. They moved us from a little ski boat over to a pontoon, which ended up working just fine but also didnt seemed to have been cleaned, since it was last rented. Definitely not a VIP experience.\r more

Not just good looks.\r I was in from Miami, visiting my girlfriend in Houston for 4th of July weekend and decided to visit Austin for a couple of days. Decided to do some water activities and found Lake Travis online. Initially we visited the Oasis, which give you a spectacular view of Lake Travis. We did a quick search online for places to rent boats jet skis etc...in the area and there popped up VIP Marina Lake Travis. Took the 20 minute scenic downhill drive to the dock. From the beginning, the employee who greeted us at the parking entrance was extremely helpful and pleasant. We parked and walked through the docks and into the facilities. Now I don’t know who did the hiring, but it seemed like both men and women were straight out of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalog. Looks aside, everyone was extremely helpful and kind. I wish I would remember every ones name but we were greeted by so many people that it was had to keep track of. I mentioned that I had no boating experience to the model that greeted us at the counter. She reassured me that it wasn’t so difficult and that there would be someone at the boat to help me through how to maneuver. We rented the 8 person boat with no canopy for $80.00hr for 2 hours including a hydro board. At the docks several other models greeted us and then we were walked through by yet another model on safety and the workings of the boat. He made us feel confident about boating for the first time. Our time there was amazing and we had wished we had rented for 4 hours. The lake itself is beautiful and large, so you can easily loose track of where you are and you have plenty of space to do your activity of choice, in this case hydro gliding. Our experience back to land was much of the same, more helpful model greeting us, asking us if he had a good time etc. We have already told everyone we know in Houston about our experience and are making plans to go back on my next visit in August. In all it was a very enjoyable experience especially for first timers who were intimidated and a bit scared.\r more

This place is VIP...... They treat you like a VIP..... but dont charge you like your a VIP.The staff is awesome(all of them),The facility is great and well maintaned.We will be returning shortly. more

We really enjoyed our experience at VIP Marina! We showed up to rent a boat this past weekend and were impressed with the staff's interest in making sure we had everything we needed and knew what we were doing on the lake. The boat was clean and ran well. I didn't realize the variety of boats they had! We will be back! more

When you need to add some gas and beverages to your boat on Lake Travis this marina is my pick. It's a smaller place than Emerald Point. They have a good set of slips to pull into. I almost never have to wait for gas. It's tucked in over by the Volente Beach Water Park. Pros: Never really busy like some other marinas Cons: Gas Prices??? LOL. more

Beware of VIP Marina on Lake Travis. They charge much more for damaged props than most other boat rental businesses in Austin. Understandly, they need to charge for damaged props, particularly when the lake is low. However. most places charge between $100-$150. They charge $300 to replace an aluminum prop that costs $85!! I'm sure it's in the fine print in the rental agreement somewhere, but they were not up front about it and it's not covered in the insurance they offer you!! Also..they were major jerks about it too!! There are plenty of other boat rental places on the lake that aren't so excessive and rip you off like that!! Russ Rhea Austin, TX more
