Worst

Had high hopes since I had heard good things. I wasn't impressed. Big plates of pasta doesn't necessarily mean good food. Almost any eatery in the n. end beats it.

Good food. Large quantities.... nothing special if you ask me. It does have good value, as I had 2 other meals from my one visit.\r \r Service was friendly. I would go there for cheap Italian... for great italian go to the North End. more

Good 9/28/2007

I like Vinny T's on Newbury so I gave it a try here as well. I ordered what I always order, the linguine with white clam sauce. I loved it~ My friend had the same thing in red sauce and that was really good too. I like the atmosphere here, I would recommend it if you wanted to take your parents out for casual dinner or something. more

Not only have they changed the name, but the food quality, presentation, ingredients, and overall cravability has improved dramatically. Not to mention the service and the overall welcoming, friendliness of everyone you encounter. Before posting one more word about Vinny T's - You should really give them another try. It's not the old Vinny Testa's you remember! Enjoy! This is one great Neighborhood Italian Restaurant! Pros: homemade quality, generous staff, generous value more

Faux ""Fast Food"" Italian 5/31/2003

What a huge pile of garbage. True, they give you enough food to feed an army, but who wants to eat any of that overcooked, preheated slop?? Anyone who is worldly enough to have tasted REAL Italian food wouldn't set foot inside Vinny's. Although I suppose if you eat McDonalds all the time and think Chili's is real great Mexican """"fine Dining"" then you'll probably be happy as a pig in, well......whatever at Vinny's. Don't waste your money. If you are craving BAD Italian food go buy a can of ragu and a box of pasta....it's better than Vinny's! more

I cannot believe with all of the choices in great Italian restaurants in the city, that anyone would nominate Vinny Testa's. Nothing against it, I think the food is ok, you definitely get a lot for your money but, come on! This is not one of the best in the city. more

If you want stereotypical, run of the mill ""Italian"" food, this is the place to go. Big servings sold cheap. There's nothing wrong, per se, but there's nothing that makes Vinny's even the slightest bit interesting. more

At best this popular spot makes up for quality by almost killing you with quantity. It is a shame that ""a lot"" of food equals a good dining experience, don't get me wrong if I haven't eaten in a week and I feel the need to strap on a feed bag I am on my way to Vinny Testa's. Although the space itself is fun and inviting with a family feel seating style this is not the place for intimacy. Drinks good. more

Stolen Umbrella 12/15/2002

Had been here once before and food was decent. Came this time with my family. Waiter at first was very good, halfway through the meal, he disappeared. Came over with desserts we never ordered. Worst of all, valet stole my new, rather expensive umbrella. Restaurant first told me manager would call and never did then when I called him I was told the valet service was private. Couldn't get a straight answer nor my umbrella. Will not be returning nor would I recommend. Pros: portions Cons: valet parking more

nothing makes up for the fact that the food is bland and the place caters to people who think that McDonald's is a great place to take a date if you want to impress her. You'd be better off boiling your own vat of pasta at home and drenching it with a jar of Ragu. more

I don't know how people say this place is great. Granted, yes, the portions are rather large and the prices not too bad but the food is disgusting!!! I have no problem paying more for pasta but at this place, the pasta has been sitting in a vat, is rather watered down and is MUSHY by the time you get it. Don't even bother, for italian food make a bee line for the North End! more

Be prepared to take food home and eat a few meals the next day. The food is good, as is the service. This place has spots all over the place, so it is easy and quick. Simply delicious sums up Vinny's. We've enjoyed their food for years. We very happily welcome back their meat sauce! (It was missed for the two years they stopped serving it.) Dinner for two or a family celebrations, Vinny Testa's is a pro at it all. Is it romantic? No. But it is delicious food and lots of it at great prices with fast and friendly service. vinny testa's is know for serving huge portions of pretty good italian food. I've eaten there several times and the food is always fresh and tasty. they have a wide variety of dishes to choose from. if you are having dinner for 2 your best bet is to split an app and share 2 entrees. even then you'll be walking out with leftovers more
