Vince's Italian Restaurant

Our family started visiting Vince' s back in 1994. We have been to the restaurant for anniversaries, birthdays, and just with our girls. In fact, we think it is a great place for a fmaily as well as couples. Pros: Excellent food, great value and fab employees! more

This was my first visit to Vince's. I plan to make it a regular in my dining out ""rotation"". I went with my two children and a friend. We received 5 star service. The staff completely catered to us. Rosa, the bartender, even made special juice drinks for the kids. We enjoyed the prosciutto di parma with parmesan cheese. The prosciutto was to die for!!!! Then, we had cannelloni, lasagna and ravioli. Each dish was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted very fresh and not bogged down with too much cheese. The cannelloni was my personal favorite. My husband even ate the ravioli two days later and said, ""Where did you get this...it's the best I've ever had!!"" Then, for dessert, we had cannoli and tiramisu. Wow!!! The cannoli was the perfect ending to a perfect dining experience. This place is a MUST if you want true to culture Italian food. What can I say. It was my first time eating there other than take out. I went for a group party and if it was a steak house, oh man I would return often. Pros: Killer steak barring the lack of salt Cons: No fresh pepper to be found? more

I come here fairly regular and I have wanted to write some kind of review for a while. From the outside the place looks pretty dull but far from it. However, you won't like this place if you are a spoiled pampered person wanting to take advantage of excellent food at great prices but have a cheap critical and better than you attitude. I'd say, do them and yourself a favor by going somewhere else. The wines are good but you won't get that little ice bucket with the white napkin (unless you ask). You are not going to be pampered like you are the Mayor or something either,... like you are doing them some kind of favor by coming in. However, everyone is very nice and I have never had a bad experience, the servers are always pleasant and helpful. You will enjoy the whole experience and find yourself coming back if you love REAL good high quality genuine food and also know how to relax and have a good time with your friends and family before and after a big meal. It's a social place. The bar is fun and full of conversation that you can hear off in the distance. Pleasant, good-looking men and women actually hang out there. (That?s a little secret) Kind of like Peppermill if you remember that place. Folks looking for perfection better break out their savings and head downtown because this is a family restaurant run by Italians. The reason people complain about waiting is because it' s popular place!! So if you love great tasting food, know how to relax and are not a SNOB you will love it here. The pizza on Tuesday night is off the hook and I have not found steak as good in all of Elk Grove no matter what the price. I love this place. more

I had a 50th Anniversary party for 52 people at Vince's (Elk Grove) last week (2/15/08) which went perfectly. I placed the food orders several days in advance, and there were changes up to and including the day of the party and all orders were perfect. Our server, Luis and an assistant, were timely and very attentive. I was amazed that just the two of them were able to serve our group and cater to our every need. The food was very good, hot, abundant and the bill was right on. Luis and his assistant served our champagne to the guests for a toast to my parents. We were provided plates and forks for the cake. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. I invited friends and family to celebrate my fathers birthday and reserved the back private room, there were 24 of us in all. We had one waitress for the whole party. She never bothered to take drink orders so the guest had to go to the bar and help themselves. Our water pitchers on the table ran out so we had to refill them ourselves. One persons order was misplaced so we had to go over the entire order again. When the food finally started to arrive it was for a few people then another 10-15 minuets would go by and some more food would come out. By the time some people got there food the others were totally finished and my boyfriends order never showed up to the table. They gave it to him to go because it was so late and we were ready to leave. A majority of or steaks were not cooked to order. Well done requests recieved medium steaks, medium request recieved well done steaks, the steaks were not labled at all and the waitress had no idea how to tell the difference. After dinner the waitress offered my boyfriend his dinner for free since he did not get to eat with the rest of us. Time for dessert, the coffee was started and once again we had to help ourselves. I don't know who to blame the management or the waitress but either way the whole experience was a joke. When you spend $500 and invite family to have a good time with you you expect to get better service than one person to take all the orders and serve all of the food by herself for 24 people. Vince's serves great family style italian food. It's usually pretty busy with long waits, especially on Friday and weekend nights. There's a bar, if you want some predinner drinks. Then there's the wait for the food, I've averaged 30 minutes after ordering food to get to eat it. By then I've filled up on their very good, warm bread. The staff always looks rushed and a little spread thin, but they are always nice. If you're looking for a relaxed atmostphere and don't mind a wait, Vince's has good food, which also tastes good as leftovers. Pros: Good food, Good bar more
