I am a fashion designer who graduated from Otis College of Art and Design. Vilma worked on all bridesmaids dresses for a friends wedding. We all used the same fabric, but each bridesmaid had the opportunity to design they're own. Some submitted photo's of what they wanted. I gave her a photo as well as a sketch to let her know how I wanted it to fit. In my opinion, she did an amazing job. As long as you are very detailed in what you want and know how to verbalize it, Vilma is great at making it happen. If there were problems with anything, she did her best to solve them. Her pricing is reasonable for a bridesmaid's dress. I have also recommended her to many other friends. I have sewn up a few articles of clothing myself while in school and after graduating and it isn't as easy as one may think especially if there are many details on a certain item. I myself have taken up a few sewing projects for a few friends and find it hard to put prices on anything. You definitely have to charge depending on the item. Some details are more time consuming than others. Anything that is custom made will be pretty pricey considering the labor. Otherwise, you might as well buy mass- produced clothing. more

I went to Vil to get a Petite size Small top made, and was charged $60. Since this was my first time with her, I hoped that she could help me with clothes in the future and so I made no fuss and not even an attempt to get it down to maybe $50. (The kind of top she made wouldn't have even cost $20 in a store). I told her that $60 was great and she could take her time with it because I didn't need it in a hurry. I would just like it the way it was in the picture. She said it was no problem at all. I gave her 4 yards of fabric just so if she made a mistake, she could start over, because it was really important to me to get it just right. When I had to go out of town suddenly, I asked her if it would be alright if I could come by the day before she said it would be ready, and she said that yes I could because it was already done! She gets two big stars for that, because I was able to bring it on the trip with me. \r \r Unfortunately, when I got it, it did not look like it did in the picture, and she kept the rest of the fabric. (You don't need 4 yards to make a small top.) Because I had to leave that day, I just took it as it was and said it was alright, it wasn't important. It was pretty much a completely different top than what I had asked for, though. \r \r I just wanted to establish a good rapport with her because if I continuously came to do business with her in the future, maybe she would go easy on me in terms of price. But about a week ago I went back to her to ask if I could have several day dresses made, and she charged me $120-$150 each, with no mention of a discount if I purchased several. If I'm going to spend almost $100 on fabric and she's going to keep the rest, I really don't think she'd be worth it, especially because she couldn't even get a small top right. It didn't even need a lot of labor because it was empire waisted and the only measurements she needed were my shoulders and my bustline. I gave her a second chance but I won't be back. more

I was desperate to find a seamstress cause I had to get my MOH dress done in a week. When i looked on city search I saw that she often agreed on a week. The first question I asked was if I could get in a week and she said yes without hesitation. I put the dress on and she started pinning. she is very patient. I wanted everything to be perfect since this is my best friends wedding. We couldn't get the thing right cause it's a bit of a complex dress. I need the hem brought up but it was kind of like curtains bunched so you can't jsut bring the hem up. she got that perfect. then I also needed to bring in at the very top since it was a strapless dress. unfortunately, there are wires all over up there so that made it difficult. It was kind of a quick fix and it turned out a little tight. skin hangs over but i needed it so i can deal with that. and because of the funky design there is now a funky line where she had to hem it. in all honesty, for a week and a complex dress, i say she did good. jsut wish it wasn't so tight. but i will use her again. Pros: quick and friendly service Cons: didn't get a call when it was done, sewed the top a little too tight more

I brought in about 4 dress shirts and she altered all of them to fit me perfectly! and she can make $150 suit look like a $1000 more

Vil is an amazingly talented woman. She designed a dress for me for my daughters wedding and did an excellent job. I had so many compliments on it!!! She also altered my daughter Carrie's wedding dress, and my daughter Christy's bridemaids dress, and the flower girls dress as well. She is so warm and friendly and makes you feel at ease. I would highly recommend her to anyone. We were all so pleased with her work and her kindness! Pros: Gets the job done by date promised, and excellent seamstress. more

I purchased the most beautiful Vintage Reproduction 1940's Hawaiian Sarong Dress that was made from a Vintage pattern. Since the ladies were a little more voluptuous back then I needed the bodice taken in a bit. I looked all over the internet and saw a couple of good reviews for Vil's and it is so close to LBCC that it made it quite convenient for me. I went in and was greeted with a smile. I explained what I needed and she had me try on the dress and stand in front of the mirror. She nipped and tucked until I had a great fit. When she told me the cost, I was shocked that it was going to be so reasonable! She asked when I needed the dress by and I said 3 weeks. She informend me that it would be done in one week! Fabulous! I came in exactly one week later and it was waiting as promised!! She had me try it on to make sure everything was good and it fit fabulous!! She put it on a hanger and covered it with protective plastic and I was on my way. I tipped her $10 for her wonderful customer service and beautiful workmanship. I am VERY happy with the work I had done at Vil's and will definitly be back in the future! I highly recommend Vil's to any gal who needs alterations work or a custom dress as her place is an actual dress shop as well!! Vil is truly an expert as an alterator. She was able to quickly and flawlessly alter my bridal gown from a size 8 to a size 2 in 3 days! She was truly a life saver. The dress looked incredibly beautiful when I wore it on my wedding day. Vil is very personable, hard-working, professional, and provides an excellent service at an excellent price. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to have a dress made or altered for their special occasion. Pros: parking, value, friendly smile, store hours more

I HAD 2 WEEKS TO GET A BRIDESMAID DRESS ALTERED. AND THIS WAS ON COMPLICATED DRESS, BEADING AND ALL. AND ALSO THERE WERE TONS OF FOLDS AND SUCH. WELL I JUST NEEDED IT DONE AND THEY PROMISED IT TO ME IN 1 WEEK AND I JUST PICKED IT UP AND ITS AWESOME!. IT IS SOOOOOOOO PERFECT AND FITS ME LIKE A GLOVE! THANK YOU VIL'S, YOU ROCK! more

Two months before my wedding day, I was frantically searching for someone to make my dream wedding dress. After exhausting all of my friends and the web. I finally found Vil's. She is warm, friendly, and knows what she's doing. She made my wedding dress from a photo in only three weeks. It came out better than I imagined. I highly recommended her.
