Sounds like a disgruntled employee if you ask me. I used to run this kitchen and It was spotless. Maybe you should have worried more about the residents and less about how people think about you and less on your smart phone and you could have been cleaning like you wanted the kitchen to be! Cry baby. more

See for yourself--GREAT PLACE FOR SENIORS! 4/18/2011

My mother, aged 90 and independent, has been at the Village for 5 years and we both cannot be happier! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about working with elderly folks with their unique issues. They respond to my mother like family, look her in the eye and call her by name, joke around with her, and ask for her opinions. \r \r There are so many activities scheduled that she sometimes can't choose. They have staff programs (totally funny and much appreciated by the residents), theme days, holiday dress-up or parties, afternoon teas with refreshments (chocolate swans filled with chocolate mousse!), musical programs, and visits by local performers and chorales, movies with popcorn, excursions by van or car, shopping excursions--this sounds upscale to me. They have kitchen tours (spotless, says Mom) and cooking classes and wine tastings. The residents themselves have activities they schedule, musical groups, bridge groups, craft groups, and so on.\r \r She especially likes the food. I join her for meals often, so I don't know WHERE the review already posted on this site CAME from! Disgruntled employee?? Food is varied, with an impressive, restaurant-like menu plus two daily specials, homemade soups, exotic entrees with spices designed to perk up elderly appetites as well as provide variety. (A recent meal included cream of artichoke soup, fresh melon, and marinated duck!) Desserts are delicious, portions large, and there are always rich ice creams as an option, plus rootbeer floats to die for. The brunches are just grand and are special affairs, with omelets made to order, meats carved at the table, and Bananas Foster on hoidays. All the food servers have on hairnets or toques and latex gloves. The General Store has ice cream and other snacks, plus necessities for the home. My mother can go to meals anytime between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM and she loves the flexibility. \r \r My advice to anyone considering the Village: Go and visit. They will comp you a few meals. Ask to see the kitchen. See how staff treats residents, how solicitous they are, how much fun they have with the patrons. Tour the apartments. Mom has TWO master suites, two baths (a tub was a must for her, and the Village customized it to her needs before she moved in), two balconies, and a pantry, plus a large storage room intended as a laundry room, in addition to her living room and kitchen area. Laundry facilities are free down the hall in the laundry room. Her room is cleaned once a week efficiently, and there is a beauty shop on site If exercise facilities and a pool are required, they have them, with personalized programs for each resident. There is a Village flower garden and fish pond, tended by staff and a few residents.\r \r You have options in Colorado Springs with many senior-living facilities. We chose the Village up on the Mesa, with killer views, for Mom, and I feel confidant when I go home that she is in the best hands possible. Check it out.\r \r more

Don't even think about eatting here 7/28/2009

The kitchen at Villiage at Skyline claims to be upscale but as of July 2009 they FAILED their state Health inspection.\r \r The kitchen is NASTY. For on demand Fish and Chips the Fish is allowed to sit on the side of the deep fryer ALL day with no refrigeration. No one washes their hands, and hair nets and gloves are none existent.\r \r Add to that that the dinner entree's and veggies are made early in the day usually before lunch and put in the warmer to sit until dinner service, on average your dinner sits in the warmer for about 4 to 6 hours before it is plated and served to you. \r \r The desserts are plated up and stored on a shelf at room temperature and sit's there until all the desserts are gone, and if any are left at night they put them in the refridgerator and take them out to sit at room temp all day again.\r \r The head chef ran his own resturant into the ground, he can't keep employees because he demands his cooks work 10 to 15 days straight with no days off, and when he does give you a day off it's usually only one day off for every 15 days you work. When things get backed up as they usually do because he is so short staffed, he takes away breaks and lunches.\r \r If you get injured, they make you sign a paper that says you will follow the doctor's recomendations and modifications, and then he will force you to work as you normally would and break all the recomendations for light duty or whatever. your restrictions are. You can forget about workmans' comp, they have a pre made script and plan of action to keep you from EVER getting benifits.\r \r Case in point, an employee sliced her hand to the point she needed surgery. He sent her off for medical care, and MADE her come back and work almost a full shift with one hand serving FOOD to the residents. and then she had to come back the very next day and work another full shift up until the day (with NO time off) until her surgery is scheduled.\r \r Another employee fell in the kitchen and was made to STAND and work as normal even with a torn ligament in her leg, and against doctor's regulations, for 15 days straight before he gave her any days off and then he only gave her one day off. She was forced to come back to work directly after receiving medical care, and to finish up her shift and then work 15 more days with no time off.\r \r Ultimatley the inability of the head chef to maintain a safe and healthy kitchen for both residents and employees, is the responsibility of the corporate office, and as of yet they have done nothing. The head chef is allowed to run this company into the ground, and they don't care.\r \r Stay away, they don't care about the residents just the money the residents pay to stay in this place..\r \r more
