The old place was way better. New place food and feel is bad 6/19/2008

We used to love this place when it was at it's old location. The new location is better for the owners banquet needs yet the look, feel, and food lacks what the old location had. The new location is hard to get to and way out there on the hills. The waiting area is basically the door. The seating area is the center of a ball room floor and the seating is not comfortable. The food was ok... but it was not as good as it was when they were in the old location. We are now looking for another hot spot. Pros: You can eat there after a round of Golf Cons: The food and atmosphere is not as good as the old place more

Great Customer Service 5/18/2008

My husband and I visited Villa Amalfi when they first moved to Hidden Valley Golf Club. The atmosphere was not as cozy as the restaurant on Main Street but the service and food was impeccable as usual. Last night we went to Villa Amalfi for our Anniversary and we very surprised to see that they have really renovated and upgrated the clubhouse to be more like a cozy Italian Restaurant. The service is the best in the Inland Empire. This is truly a restaurant where the customer is the king. Anything we wanted the servers, managers, bussers, everyone was there to make sure we had the best dining experience possible. Villa Amalfi is maintaining their 19 year reputation although now serving more of a variety of food for the golfers taste the food was outstanding & we still love it. more

Disappointed 2/15/2008

My husband and I went to Villa Amalfi in their new location last night for Valentine's Day. This new location in the Hidden Valley Golf Course clubhouse left us both disappointed. There is no longer any feeling that you are at an Italian restaurant. There was no music and not much decor except a few fake plants here and there. Also, there is no seating in the lobby while you are waiting for your table unless you want to sit in the shoe shine chair. I found that strange. This location does not feel like a restaurant and seriously lacks the charm the Main Street location had. The food also left us disappointed. The bread had little taste, the fried mozzarella was bland and my pollo parmigiana was just as good as a frozen dinner. My bleu cheese mashed potatoes were cold and lacked bleu cheese flavor and my steamed vegetables needed salt because they had no flavor at all. Also, my husband's Chipotle Fettucini made him sick to his stomach. The service was okay, but when my husband needed his water refilled he had to go to the bar to get it. Our server took to long to check to see if we needed refills. After seeing my husband have to help himself to a refill, the hostess or manager then sent over a server to get us refills. When asked what I would like, I said water please. He then came back a poured water into my empty glass that I had a Coke in!! I didn't even get a new glass and you could tell there was still a little bit of Coke in the glass I used!!! It's a shame that since the move the quality of this restaurant has gone way down. I really think they have missed they mark with this new location and predict they will close sooner than later. We won't be back. Pros: Had a coupon for a free appetizer Cons: Lacks Italian charm, bad location more

Nice breakfast too 8/24/2006

Try their breakfast. They serve it daily! Although the breakfast menu is small, it is nicely done. Staff are very nice and also very accommodating. My husband loves to special order steak and/or fettucini for breakfast, mmmm it is so good. They are rarely busy, probably because breakfast is not well advertised. And the coffee is bold and good. more

No Wait 11/7/2004

I have to say on a Saturday Night we were late for a movie and we got right in, no wait and were served superfast but I also thought the service was excellent. Even though we were in a rush, I didn't feel like I was putting the waitress out to be rushing. It was a great alternative to the same old, same old chain restaurant with all the same menu items all the time. more

viva italy 7/3/2003

olive garden is like school lunch compared to here. the veal marsala is in a thin dark sauce that bursts with flavor. the canneloni is rich and intense. the tiramisu is imported from italy. the best italian food i've found in california. reminds me of rome! more

viva italy 2/17/2003

villa amalfi moved to a new location. it offers more dining space and banquet facility but its less romantic atmosphere. the atmosphere is not bad though. the food is authentic , veal marsala melts in your mouth with a dark carmelized sauce. the canelloni sauce is rich and flavorful. the tiramisu is genuine homemade and soaked in liquer. more
