We were married in a beautiful ceremony in a charming old house surrounded by a small gathering of our closest loved ones. No Decorations Needed! The ambiance and charm of the Victorian was already present. As were the gracious and well prepared hosts. The Victorian Mansion is aesthetically beautiful and is accented with period appropriate decor I did not want to plan a wedding. I was so happy to have found a place that would do everything for us. Their price includes Catering, servers, set up and clean up, DJ, bartender (including all of the mixers and non alchoholic drinks) officiant (Bob married us). They also had the option of using some of their decorations that they already had like centerpieces, wedding card drop, cake cutter and easel. We used our own centerpieces, they were beautiful candelabras which they bought from us after the event, along with our table numbers and four beautiful cake plates. So now that's all there for other brides to enjoy. I was very thankful for these little extras! We were married in front of the fireplace. The ceremony was very nice, Bob was great and professional, he was very good at going with the flow when my husband was making everyone laugh during our vows. The Food was AMAZING!! We received a lot of complements from our guests on the ceremony and the food. My guests were freaking out about the delicious home made bread. There was even a sit down service instead of a buffet, rare and enjoyable. Every one had an amazing time especially one of our friends who'd already had too much to drink and was trying to order 5 beers at once. Our friend can be volatile but I watched as Bob diffused the situation and even made our friend laugh. I asked Bob if there was a problem if I needed to do anything and he laughed and said ""Not at all just have fun"" It was great. Bob and Dori handled it all. Not I, nor none of my guests or family members was approached for issues or uncertainties during the event. Someone in our party had ventured into an area that was off limits and it upset Bob. The area was marked ""NO TRESSPASSING"" very clearly, in English. Dori sweetly told (i was there) the person why the rules were in place. It was handled well. She was very professional. Unfortunately there have been times in the past where people were abusing the grounds and breaking the rules. Keep in mind that you are renting this venue, you do not buy it. This isn't a kegger, it's your wedding so sneaking off to off limits places and bringing your own booze is frowned upon. I've read some bad reviews about the Victorian and I can see that some reviews are heated and injected with emotion and embellished perceptions and at times unrealistic expectations. The DJ was a very nice gentleman. He was on top of the cues and made the cake cutting to the first dance to the father daughter dance...etc.. move very smoothly. The only thing I noticed was that songs from the do not play list got played. It wasn't inappropriate or anything, but I said something to him and he was very nice and apologized that he didn't have that list. He offered to stop playing it, but I looked at the dance floor and people were loving it. So very very minor, really. People were having a good time. We are a very easygoing couple who wanted an easygoing, classy, wedding with personality, character and intimacy. We got it all. We didn't expect perfection but I feel like we got really close. I would highly recommend the Victorian Mansion for your event. more

We just had a amazingly beautiful outside wedding at the Victorian! The house is gorgous with vintage decour, the yard is fabulous with palm trees wrapped with twinkly lights, a large water fountain and flowers. The tables were all set with fresh white linens. It was really very nice and relaxing. The food is very wonderful from the salad to the entree, The staff is very friendly and helpful. We first saw the Victorian on one of the open houses that they hold on Mondays and met with Bob, He is very friendly, full of helpful and much needed advice and was always available by phone or email to answer any questions we had. The Victorian packages come with everything included except the cake, flowers and liquor which made the planning very simple. All of my guests had a great time, My Mother was amazed that she could sit and relax and enjoy herself as well and not have to worry about something not getting taken care of,again the staff is superb. my cousin has now booked her wedding here. I highly reccomend the Victorian for your wedding and believe me, I shopped around. I could not believe all that I got at the Victorian for the price. Working with Bob was great! He was very helpful planning my wedding! He has wonderful advice and made my special day very memorable to all that attended. The Victorian is decorated and full of period antiques, It has a warm and cozy ambience! The food was by far wonderful!! The DJ was a lot of fun and played my playlist plus some, Bob performed my ceremony and oversaw the whole wedding plus bartended the reception, My guests loved his happy and upbeat personality!!!! We booked The Victorian primarily for the outside area. We were able to eat outside under the white lights and it was very beautiful. The bartender and serving staff were friendly and helpful. The tables were nicely decorated. Those are the positives. The main problem we had was with Bob, the owner. If you have your wedding here, be prepared to manage it yourself and double and triple check everything. When meeting with Bob he takes other phone calls so it's difficult to keep his attention. I sent him two emails with a list of the songs I wanted for the reception and our vows, and asked him to let me know he received them. He said he did. Then at the rehearsal he said he didn't have the vows-thank fully I brought a hard copy. At the reception, just before we were to start the first dance, the DJ told me he didn't have our list of songs. Not something a bride wants to deal with on her wedding day. I had to run upstairs and hand write all the songs while my guests waited to begin the dancing. The contract includes a party captain but the only person who helped us in any way was the DJ. I don't even know who the party captain was. The caretaker brought his family (5 of them and a baby) in and they all sat around by the bathroom during the reception. Very unprofessional! The staff called us to sit down for dinner and then we waited 20 more minutes at the tables because they weren't ready. This put us behind schedule for the cake cutting, dancing, etc. The decorations inside are old but it can be overlooked if you don't care too much about that, which I didn't. I don't discourage you from having your wedding here, but understand that you probably won't get everything that is promised and you'll have to do a lot of it yourself. Pros: Beautiful outside area at night. Cons: Bob, the owner, is difficult to reach and very unorganized. more

After looking at more than a dozen other venues for my daughter's wedding, I stumbled upon The Victorian at Hemphill Mansion while surfing the internet . The bride-to-be was living in San Diego, which made any decision making a nightmare. I was about an inch away from handing the kids a check and asking them to elope. I decided I would look at The Victorian since I didn't need an appointment and showing up for ""open house"" seemed easy enough. I attended the next open house (usually held on Monday evenings from 4-8) and left there with a big load off of my shoulders. I had finally found and booked the venue! And there's more... Not only had I found the perfect venue, but the wedding package included the officiate, the caterer, and the DJ! Bob Caudle was like a breath of fresh air to work with. Maintaining a high level of professionalism, he was relaxed, friendly, FUNNY, but most of all accommodating. There were menu options for any budget. I was able to customize the menu for my event. At The Victorian I was able to supply all of the alcohol (saving TONS of money) and Bob provided a bartender and condiments for a minimal fee. All unconsumed alcohol was boxed up and given to me at the end of the evening. We were permitted to decorate the way we wanted to and given ample time to do so. The kids met with the DJ in advance and were able to provide a list of songs for both the ceremony and the reception. Bob did a super job keeping things moving on the big day and his staff was great. THE FOOD WAS SUPERB. When it was time to wrap things up, rather than kicking everyone out, Bob invited the remaining guests to join him down the street at a nightclub where the fun continued. Everyone is still talking about the great time that was had by all. I highly recommend The Victorian for any event. Your guests will be delighted by the charm of the mansion and impressed with the stellar service. The best part is YOU will be able to relax and ENJOY! My wife and I attended a 2007 New Years eve Party at the Victorian Roseville. The evening was without doubt one of the finest events we had ever attended. The evening consisted of an excellent show featuring The Tom Jones Experience, followed by a wonderful four course meal. A choice of Salmon, Chicken, and Fish was on the menu. Approximately 130 guests were in attendance, although it was a bit of a squeeze everyone was seated very comfortably in both rooms. The food was served hot and was very good. My wife had the salmon and I had the steak which was done to perfection. Mr Caudle, the owner, actually served my table of 12 himself, which impressed my wife and I. The wait staff were very polite, attentive, and patient. My wife and I were so impressed with eveything The Victorian had to offer, we decided our daughter should get married there. The venue was just so quaint my wife, daughter andf I just loved the ambience. In June of this year 2008 my daughter Kate was married at the Vitorian. Mr Caudle did us proud. I left everything in his capable hands and he took care of everything from the cake, photographer, video person, and music. His staff worked very hard at making it the most memorable day for my daughter. Eveything went like clockwork all thanks to Mr Caudle and his staff. I would strongly recommend to anyone who is planning a wedding or an event to use The Victorian. Thank you Mr Caudle and staff for a most memorable time. We booked the Victorian for our wedding and they never returned our calls the entire time that we were in the process of planning our wedding. That should have been a big red flag! They discourage the hosts of the party to invite children to a wedding or a party there, then on the day of our wedding most of the staff were children. The DJ came totally not dressed for the occasion! The DJ refused to play certain songs, and told guests that the bride would have to ask him to play a song, the songs requested were party songs. They ruined the wedding cake, leaving wood chips in it. There were discrepancies between what their menu shows, and what they actually served, for example what the menu says is dinner rolls and butter and what they really serve is some yellow flat bread that looks like corn bread, but tastes nothing like it. And the menu said penne pasta but they really served mini rotini pasta. And watch out smoke fills the inside of the house when they cook in the kitchen. Pros: Nothing Cons: Poor service. more

We were tricked into trusting Bob, River City DJ and The Victorian for our entire wedding!! Do NOT do what we did!!! He promised a lot for our money and did not even come close to delivering!!! We booked the facility from 2pm until 11pm he was showing the facility and signing up people at 2:45 and was unavailable to us! Cons: Service is horrible!!!! more
