Great Garlic Chicken 5/28/2006

The food's great! The service is mediocre. I would highly recommend this place as one of the restaurants as a ""MUST VISIT"" if you're from out of town. Pros: food, inexpensive Cons: parking more

Bad service, ok food, crowded as hell.. 11/11/2005

I don't usually write bad reviews but I tried this place 3 times...I don't find it any good...The oh-so-famous garlic chicken isn't bad but what is the fuss all about? The service is terrible, not helpful, they rush your meal to kick you out ASAP, I ordered 2 dishes to go once, I repeated what I wanted 3 times and I still got the order wrong...next time I'll try ordering in Spanish..oh, I forgot..there won't be a next time!! Pros: garlic chicken Cons: loud, parking lot from hell, SERVICE more

AWESOME 5/29/2005

GREAT CUBAN FOOD!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE. I just went again today and tried number 46 with the salmon and i never eat salmon because i think its too fishy but it wasnt at all fishy and i LOVED it! I really recomend this place, it isnt the prettiest environment but the food is def worth it. the food came in record time i was literally there probably 10 minutes no joke. more

Always Good 3/21/2005

If you've never tried cuban food before, this is a great place for an introduction- you'll become a fan. Really great value and quick service here. If it's your first time, try the pulled pork or garlic chicken dish. They both come with fried plantains and beans. Delicious. more

a tradition 11/10/2004

I have travelled all over the world. The ONE food craving I get that makes me miss Los Angeles is Versailles Garlic chicken. It is always as good as I remember it and the service is always quicker than I remember it. Versailles has ruined cuban food for me because I am always disappointed after eating at a place as good and inexpensive as this. Pros: cheap, quick service, amazing food more

the simple solution 9/16/2004

Definitely go to versaille. Definitely don't order anything other than garlic chicken or pork. We all get tempted from time to time to order the occasional fish or steak, but this is simply not the place to do it. You will definitely be making a big mistake. The chicken and pork combo is heavenly-- everything else is a letdown. Pros: inexpensive more

love their food 6/11/2004

I love their oxtail stew with all rice. The garlic bread is very tasty too. They provide fast service and generous portions at a great price. Pros: generous portions, fast service more

Most Authentic Cuban Food in LA! 10/14/2003

I am Cuban and this place has some of the best Cuban food I've ever had. Versailles is the place to go if you love garlic. The prices are great and the service is quick. Lunch time is less crowded and during the week they sometimes have lunch specials. This is my favorite restaurant in LA. Also, this particular Versailles restaurant is the best of the four. Don't miss out. Pros: Tasty, Inexpensive, Good service Cons: Ambiance more

onions & vinegar 10/11/2003

okay, is it just me, or does *every* entree on the menu come with a side of raw white onions with vinegar and oil? i don't understand why this restaurant is so popular, the food is nothing special and the price is too high. yet the line is has been out the door to get seating every time i've been here... you're better off to go to cafe brasil down the street. Pros: good milkshakes Cons: long wait, no parking, too expensive more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! 7/10/2003

the food is EXCELLENT. i recommend the ox tail with rice. soo good. big parking lot which is usually packed. the prices are GREAT. you get a LOT of food for like 10 bucks/person. the setting is very authentic. very good place! Pros: good food, cheap Cons: crowded more

Good God Garlic + Value 4/16/2003

If you are looking for amazing value and garlic, this is your heaven. Its a large space with probably 30-40 tables. If you want to go on the weekends, the place is empty until 5:30; after 6pm its completely full. If you are on a date, this might not be a good idea for two reasons: (1)its a simple place with no ambiance, and (2) the garlic might ruin you for a good 2 days (although if both of you eat garlic, who is going to notice). Good authentic cuban food which you have served to you within 5 minutes. I highly recommend the COMBO platter (chicken and beef) if you are really hungry. The food is excellent for leftovers as well. The price for 3 with 3 dinners, 2 apps, and maybe 5 beers = $60! If you haven't had cuban food, this is a great place to start. Pros: Free Parking, Quick Service, Great food Cons: Simple atmosphere, Not good for a date more

NOT THAT GREAT 1/16/2003

The first reason I went was because of the garlic chicken but the service is bad..and the line is very long if you go at 6pm... I recommend better the Rincon Criollo for Cuban food it is smaller than Versailles but the garlic chicken is just great! and it is around the corner. Cons: Service, the waiting more

Fabulous !!! 7/26/2002

The food was delicious!!! The best I have ever eaten. Seating was very promt if you get there early bc the place is always packed. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy good food. Pros: the best food, good price, prompt seating Cons: noisy, hard to find parking, crowded more

amazing place! 6/19/2002

Really satisfying food, good ambience, lighthearted atmosphere, low prices and excellent service. There are only two vegetarian dishes on the menu, and they both involve bananas, but they're really, really good bananas so fear not. The cuban espresso is worth the jolt as well! more

Go for Garlic Chicken 5/20/2002

It's not fine dining, but it's one of the tastiest meals you'll find in L.A. I go for the garlic chicken or pork chops; some friends swear by the ropa vieja. Whatever you order, settle in for big, hearty meal. The atmosphere is modest but lively, and this location is bigger than the La Cienega outpost, which means you're less likely to wait. Pros: Extensive menu, Reliably good food Cons: Limited parking more
