Our favorite restaurant 7/16/2011

We have been going there at least once a week for about 16 years. We don't love everything on the menu but almost everything. Another reviewer JB2009 said their side salad was routine and that is not true. They have crisp romaine lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, shredded carrots and cheese. Nothing routine about that. Their soups are outstanding and their desserts are too. We even love the employees. Try it you will love it. more

Exceeded My Expectation 8/1/2010

Just heard about this restaraunt even though we've both been around Pittsburgh for a long time, When I saw the place, I wasn't sure that I wanted to go in. It looked deserted. When we called a litte later, the guy confirmed they were open and suggested we make a reservation. I thought, ""yeah, sure"" but we made it and when we showed up an hour the parking area was packed.! The chicken parm, wedding soup, lasgana and salads were all fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. I saw lots of folks eating straks and fried shrimp which was very affordable so I must go back very soon! Brought dessert home and BAM-super!!! Pros: Food quality, taste, price Cons: parking, size more

Bold Statement... Best Italian in Pittsburgh 4/23/2010

Amazing Italian food. My favorite in the city. Check out some pictures with some detailed prices/menu items at my review site: Pros: Food, Price, Atmosphere more

Amazing italian Food 6/2/2009

My fiance and I used to go here all the time to eat but since we moved about an hour away, we only go here when it's for something special. We had made reservations at a fancy place in Shadyside, but I changed my mind and wants to go here instead. It is def. worth the waiting time! Pros: Best Tomato Cream sauce In Town! Cons: there are no draw backs! more

Go here for great Italian! 2/14/2009

Although I am originally from the area, I now live out of town. I have been here a handful of times before, and have always had a good experience. I took my husband here over the weekend (Valentine's Day weekend 2009) and had yet another good experience. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking, The seating could be a bit too ""cozy"" for some more

Best Italian Food in Pittsburgh Area 7/18/2008

This is the best Italian food in the Pittsburgh area. A straight shot from Pittsburgh on Allegheny River Blvd, or easy access from PA turnpike Exit 48, reservations are needed almost every night. The prices are reasonable, yet the wedding soup is the best I've had, each entree comes with soup and salad, or try the Italian hot sausage + pasta dishes that are out of this world. Wait people are friendly and quick, and all staff really care! Pros: Value price for excellent food. Cons: Parking is tough but usually someone is leaving as you arrive. more

Wonderful Mom n Pop feel. So Pitsburgh Italian. 8/27/2007

I have driven by this place for years and never ate there. A friend who just moved to the area asked me to go there with him. I was blown away by the food. Salad, wedding soup, and pasta was very nice. Nice feel in the place. Waitresses were great each time I have been there. Very friendly and they take care of business. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking more

Better Italian food than even Italy!! 3/3/2007

WOW!! I can't believe I am the first to review this restaurant, considering it has the best Italian food I've ever had. This is coming form a person who been to Italy several times too. The only reason I can figure nobody has reviewed it, is that they don't want to let anybody in on the secret. ""This restaurant has a nice small, cozy, mom-n-pop type feel. Seating is limited, so don't expect to get seated without a reservation. All their main dinners come with a fresh salad, garlic bread, and soup. The have the absolute best wedding soup in the world. The staff is very friendly, and it seems like when you walk in the place everybody knows one another. Don't just take my word for it. Try it out and see for yourself. more
