Great Vegetarian food in a restaurant--at last! 1/2/2009

I take two of my grandchildren here as they are both vegetarians.\r Everyone just loves the sweet and sour walnuts!\r The food is good and nutritious; the environment is good for families,\r families with children, couples, seniors--everyone.\r We love it. A Fan for 15 years + 5/24/2003

We love this place even though it is run down and you have to go outside to go to the bathrooms in the back of the building. We have had at least 100 meals here! Our favorites are the fried wontons, seaweed soup, vegetables and mushrooms over sizzling rice, fried walnuts. I think we have eaten almost every item on the menu. The food is ALWAYS fresh and tasty and the service is ALWAYS excellent. If you are into ambience/fancy food/nouveau anything, please don't go here. All of us Vegi Food fans love it exactly the way it is! Romantic??? The true romantic can find ANY place romantic; my husband and I love this place. Berkeley secret 5/7/2003

Don't be put off by the old, worn exterior - this is a secret Berkeley institution, some of the best vegetarian (vegan, I think) food I know of in Berkeley. The owners are Buddhist and don't cook with onions or garlic, as far as I know. Cheap too. Get the special fried rice (more like a biryani) and soybean sheets with greens. You won't be sorry! more
