My son was looking for a very specific truck so we drove 5 hours from WI to this dealer. While we were waiting, a couple was getting quite loud in the showroom. They had made arrangements over the phone to pick up a car and when they got there the car had been sold out from underneath them. The couple was quite upset and it almost became a fist fight in the showroom...very unprofessional on behalf of the staff at this dealership. Then while we were still waiting, an elderly couple came in and wanted to check out a used Chevy Volt. The Saleswoman went to get the keys for a test drive and she pulled up in a brand new Chevy Malibu. The couple told her that was not the car they were interested in and that new car was NOT in the budget.....her reply was, "sure it is and let me show you how it fits your budget." We felt bad for the couple as they weren't even given the option to look over and test drive the car they came in to see. The saleswomen took them for a test drive with them in the passenger seat, they never got to drive the car. My son and I thought we couldn't wait til they got from their test drive to see how it went.....we were there for three hours and never saw them come back or the saleswomen either. We never made a deal that afternoon after driving for five hours.....If anyone drives five hours, that should show interest interest in one of their vehicles. Three out of four groups interested in cars that Sat, walked away with no deal....how does a dealership stay open when 3 out of four walk away? more

Sales and Service 3/24/2016

We have had nothing but professional service from everyone at Vaughn Automotive. From the day we bought our 2014 Van from them to today. The sales staff was highly knowledgeable about the vehicles and their individual jobs. Returning to the service department both with /without appointments has never been a problem. With and appointment they have always got me in within minutes of the appointed time, if we didn't have an appointment the wait would be longer but never has it been unreasonable. In our opinion the people of Vaughn Automotive Group is Customer Service orientated, courteous, professional, and extremely knowledgeable about their jobs. Although it is quite a drive, we will continue to take our automotive needs to them as long as they continue to demonstrate the attributes they have so far more

Attempting to buy a pre-owned vehicle today. Was told that someone was coming in this morning to buy it, but if that fell through they would call me. Waited until noon and thought I would just check to see if the sale went through. Salesman said " No the car is in fact available come on down, can I get your information so we can start the process?" I gave him the information and was at the lot within 45 minutes of our conversation. My husband and I were literally getting out of the car when my cell phone rang. It was the salesman telling me how sorry he was but another salesperson just sold the car. I called and spoke with Bob the sales manager who basically said, sorry about your luck! I will NEVER do business with them again. Nothing but a run around, bunch of clowns. more

No post-sale customer service 7/20/2011

Dealing with them prior to the sale was great, but after the sale there were some minor issues with the vehicle as delivered. I tried repeatedly to contact Josh and Kyle via e-mail and telephone, but neither one ever bothered to respond. Avoid this dealership at all costs. more

Quick Diagnostic 3/12/2010

I decided to bring my 1997 Jeep Wrangler to Vaughn Automotive to have some problems diagnosed. I had spent alot of money at the local good ol boy mechanic shop, only to fix things that were not the problem at hand, and wanted a professional opinion. Adam in Chrysler/Jeep service set an appointment for 10:30am in the morning. I work nights, so I dropped off the Jeep on my way to work the night before. Adam called me at 9:00am and already had the problem diagnosed. Compared to the past three weeks of having my Jeep sitting in good ol boy's garage, not getting a proper diagnosis while costing me money fixing problems that were not currently affecting my Jeep........I'd say the service department at Vaughn automotive and Adam did a phenomenal job and have earned my repeat business. Thank you for proving that dealing with professionals makes life easier. Stephen Smart more

Vaughn Automotive has been a great place for my family to purchase and service our all vehicles. My father bought all his trucks from Vaughn's and my wife and I have done the same. They are honest people that care about Ottumwa. Chad, thanks for investing in you new store in Ottumwa. The new building is a great highlight for Ottumwa. more

They're dealin'! (well...not really) 8/9/2005

If you've lived in Ottumwa for more than a week I'm sure you've seen a commercial advertising the "great deals" at Vaughn's. Hopefully, you've gone elsewhere for you car needs. This is probably the snobbiest car dealer I have ever dealt with. Not only are their prices higher than what you can find elsewhere but their salespeople are pushy as well. more
