As a new member to the IC community, Varsity Cleaners had been recommended to me by family friends. I have brought my dressy items and significant other's dress shirts there a number of times. I was satisfied with their cleaning and customer service until now.
On one occasion, on all four of the white shirts we picked up, we had to have them redone as their was black chalk/flake marks in the inside collar and up and down the arm. They redid them for free. Ok, I'm over that.
On my most recent visit, I've decided not to go there for men's pressed shirts from now on:
We had noticed that at the bottom of ALL the men's shirt, there is a noticeable indentation left. It's about 2-3 inches long and resembles the shape of a fat popsicle stick. It was on all the men's dress shirts. On my last visit I asked the sales associate about this. She claimed that it's part of the press clamp and it's unavoidable due to the process of the press. For $1 a shirt, they could press it out. Wait a second...I'm paying you to clean and press an undesirable shape in our dress shirts? Then pay you an additional $1 to take it out? Really? Why wouldn't you offer that service for free? The staff (and possibly owner with a scowl that even suggested that) seemed relatively unwilling to even fathom the thought.
Unless you ALWAYS plan to tuck in your shirt, then I suppose this wouldn't be a problem. My sig fig wanted to wear his shirt untucked for a casual event and was annoyed he had to tuck it in due the obnoxiousness of the clamp indentation.
Cons: Will leave a 3 inch pressed indentation in all men's shirts
