Lovely Staff & Park 11/2/2010

My family and I have used Valley of the Sun for the past three family members we have lost. I have always been impressed with the staff and the services. They made beautiful online memorial video of my mother. We are now able to share the video tribute and memories with family and friends around the world. Our friends are able to post their favorite memories of Mom and offer their condolences. We had a private graveside service at the cemetery in the beautiful cremation garden. I find it peaceful and healing to visit my mother?s resting place. I thank the staff for helping my family in our time of sorrow. more

I have found the staff of Valley of the Sun to be kind, compassionate and caring. It's evident that the folks who work there embrace what they do and work hard to satisfy every need. more

STAY AWAY 7/19/2009

I unfortunately buried my daughter there. It has been one problem after the next the first being that when we purchased the plots We made it very clear that the next family member that would die would be buried on top of her grave in the cemetery business this is called ""double depth"" We did not know what it was officially referred to but we made our wishes clear. That did not happen. When she died we took her to Whitney & Murphy funeral home because of a friends recommendation. They sold us her headstone and we also wanted a bench and begun to look for one with them. However VOS stated ""NO"" they even put on our plot contract that they would be the seller of the bench exclusively, they we're also upset that we had already purchased her headstone at Whitney & Murphy and if it did not meet their requirements we would not be able to place it. Also when they showed us the plots there was not another plot adjacent to ours maybe a foot of space up to the side walk. Well now they have sold that area as well for benches that urns are placed into. It is so close that if we were to use that plot (and we're not) the bench that is there would have to be moved, and knowing them they would charge for this as well. It took some time to design her bench that we purchased from them out of fear due to threats they would not place a bench purchased elsewhere. I don't have to say but we, I, were emotionally shattered, the grief was at times mind boggling. I could easily go into more details here, like when purchasing the bench; these are not cheap and finding something nice but affordable was a factor, but I was told ""Look at this way, it's not like your going to spend any more money on her"" I felt like I was talking with a used car salesmen. Not professional, very low caliber. At any rate I overpaid these people $5000 and they will not give it back. Not only have we been ripped to pieces by grief but we were ripped off by these con artists. Pros: Safe area Cons: Con artists more

Nice Cemetary, Awful funeral home 11/6/2008

The grounds of this cemetary are very well kept, I buried my father there over 20 yrs ago and had no problem with the cemetary or funeral home, then 10 yrs ago I went with my husband and we purchased a plot at the top of my fathers grave, 5 yrs later my sister purchased the plot at the foot of my fathers grave, so come Sept, 2008 when my husband passed away, they tell me I purchased the plot at the foot of my fathers grave, and when I told them no they looked in some book and told me that book said my husband and I were to be buried 4 spaces over. Naturally I threw a fit and was crying but my contract stated that I purchased the plot at the bottom of my fathers grave and also my sisters contract stated the same plot, so they sold the plot twice. Nobody showed any compasion for the added grief they were putting me through, I stated to the director that I wanted a family member present when the grave was dug so I would know if anyone was already in the grave, I didn't know how many times that he sold it. They have never called to let me know that they received the death certificates or that the headstone was put in, there is no follow ups on their part, I would recommend the cemetery but double check everything, as far as the funeral home I would recommend another, they don't seem to have it together for you during your time of grief, and I would hate for anyone to go through what I went through with them, Pros: well kept cemetary Cons: records are not kept correctly more

Poor Service, No communication 11/20/2007

Both my grandparents are at rest at VOS. For my grandfather's funeral services, they double booked the sanctuary then we were left to wait outside with over 100 mourners. When we attempted to reach the director he was unavailabe. For my grandmother, the services were smoother however, she was buried on April 1st and as of November 20, the engraving & photo has not been done. They keep putting us off even though they collected their fees on the day we came in to pick her casket. They did call me back in September and told me it would be done in 2 weeks, yet they fail to uphold their promises. And they fail to communicate. The cemetery is beautiful. I attribute their lack of communication and compassion to poor management. I would recommend the cemetery but definetly NOT the mortuary or the services of their funeral directors. Pros: Beautifully kept Cemetery Cons: The poor management and funeral directors more

Nice, small funeral home 7/20/2005

This is a small but very nice funeral home. The cemetery is well kept and the services held here always seem to be very well done. Their chapel is quiet and tastefully decorated. more
