Do Not Put Anyone In This Place! 3/30/2014

I had started work at Valley View in 2008, it was the most wonderful place to work. The management WAS caring and giving and their priority was the residents and the staff. After a few years, the place became a dump, a miserable LPN began a relationship with the newest administrator and they both took the place over. The residents were no longer a concern. We were constantly understaffed and couldn't properly care for all the residents as they deserved to be. In fact nobody even wants to work there since the new "bosses" destroyed the integrity of the entire facility. Slowly but surely, all the aides, office staff, and decent nurses who had worked there when I started and long before, were getting fired left and right...for no reason at all besides they were making too much and not conforming to ridiculous new rules that were never needed before for a HAPPY work environment. The food was disgusting. Daily lunch and dinner was mostly soup and sandwich, with moldy or extremely stale brea more

This place should be shut down 4/8/2012

Managment does not care about the residents, their only concern is making money. This poorly ran facility doesn't deserve to be called a nursing home because what it really is a JOKE! more

Worst Nursing Home In Norwich NY 9/29/2010

This facility does not deserve a one star rating. I have been visiting a friend in this facility for almost 10 years I have to tell you I will treasure my memories for the first 9 years, in the last year its gone DOWN HILL as a new owner bought the facility. They only have two aids and two nurses working the night shift they take care of 82 residents. I have to tell you my story I used to be a private home health care provider the first 9 years all the staff were AWESOME the food is bad now they have gotton rid of all the staff they are all working somewhere else I do run into them from time to time I recently was banned from this facility. First time EVER I had to call the state. From June through august it was a nightmare dealing with the administrator and all the staff. They do not care how they take care of the residents the ratings for this facility is a one star I dont think they deserve that! I saw a man leave in his wheel chair at around 8.15pm at night he told all the staff he was going home well he did get through both doors and a friend and I saw him coming out in the parking lot. HE JUST LEFT NO STAFF MEMBER STOPPED HIM OR SAW HIM LEAVE! The FOOD IS BAD his son brings in three meals a day for his dad my friend who pays $90 thousand dollars what does he get for that he gets to have ants in his room this summer oh yeah they were crawling up my leg, a family member told me that her father in law room mate was urinating on him in bed he yelled for a nurse nobody came for a while how do I know I heard the man screaming what did the nurse tell the family member oh that is not true it never happened oh yeah it did happen. I saw a old lady shut out of her unit at 4 am in the morning poor thing she was fairly new in this facility her family told me she had already fallen twice in six days. I pointed out a man in a wheel chair to two nurses his shorts were soaked in his own urine they said they were waiting for the man to run out of steam.....ok a few hours later he still had the same shorts on. My friends bedding was soaking wet in urine every morning a concerned aid told me that she found him that way every morning. Two aids and two nurses taking care of 82 residents in the night shift I am sure I dont have to explain what kind of quality care you recieve there. I made a complaint against a aid what did she do she smeared ice cream and peanut butter on my car. I have been going in here as I stated for almost 10 years never had a problem with any staff member except for the last 3 months WHY because the administrator his name is JUDD he had to get rid of me people like me that catch on very quickly how they run there facility they want to get rid of the final straw for him was when I called the state it was not only me but other family members too called them. The administrator claimed THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AGAINST ME!!!.........OH REALLY THEN WHY WERE THERE NOT ANY NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AGAINST ME IN THE 9 years and 7 months?????? I saw a lady crying in the dinning room in the evening time I asked her are you okay? she told me NO I alerted a aid the aid just looked at me and looked at the lady crying in her wheelchair and simply walked away.......I call that compassionate care at valley view manor. I dont know how many people I run into daily that has a story about this facility. Good Luck I can give you some advice I do know that the veterans home is first class its a beautiful facility the food is first class and all the staff are awesome. more

Do Not Put Your Loved One In This Facility 9/7/2010

Hi my name is Linda I have been visiting a friends father for almost 10 years. At one time my friend who is in his 80s enjoyed staying there at one time all the staff were happy there were plenty of nurses and aids, I wish I could say that now. This facility was just recently bought in the last year. I moved away in 2006 I do come back to norwich in the summer time last year I noticed my friends dad who has a private room and pays $90 thousand dollars a year his bed cover was stained and smelled of urine. Nobody changed it my friends trousers were wet, nobody was toileting him.He REFUSES to eat the food so his son brings in three meals a day for almost 10 years. I came back to this area on may 15th 2010 I decided to give my friend a break every day at lunch time. My first day on the job, I asked a aid to get the resident up and toilet him she told me the son does that. I told her the son is not here please get him up and toilet him it was time for lunch. she replied if he does not want more

not a good nursing home 12/20/2008

I work at valley view. If u love your loved one, dont bring them there. Its a for profit home, and very little money goes back into the residents. Pros: some good employees Cons: the food, the management, the people who own the place. more
