Valley Presbyterian Business Office 2/11/2011

I went to the hospital for some tests. My doctors indicated that I needed them. I went to the hospital and when I received the bill I called to make arrangements for payment. Over the phone the customer service person from the Business Office accepted that I start paying $35.00 a month for a $430.00 bill and once I finish payment the specialist and the doctor I can increase the payment to $50.00. I did that - I paid the doctors and the specialist and I start paying $35.00 and later I increased to $50.00. Today I found out that the Hospital sent me to collections even that I was paying every single month $35.00 and I increased to $50.00. The worst part is that they placed the account on collection for $171.00 and never mentioned the actual account amount. I called the collection and I disputed the amount and the collections tells me that they do not received instructions from me but from Hospital, meaning that they forwarded wrong information and they do not update the account with the collection company. The worst part is that they payments are going to Valley Presbyterian Hospital not to the collection company and those individuals in Valley are not assisting in solving the problem that was reported by one of the credit bureau. I told Valley that was is the story with all those people that owe them thousands of dollars and do not pay and they keep coming to the hospital. They claim that the issue is with me and no other people. I met a woman that told me that she owes more than $20,000 to the hospital and she haven't pay and she keeps coming to the hospital because she needs medical attention and the hospital must take her in. Otherwise she can sue the hospital if something serious happens to her. I do not see how is that this hospital takes me to collection for $121.00 that I actually owe. ( I sent $61.00 this month and the balance should be $60.) and they keep complaining that I do not pay the bills. I v isited this hospital more than seven times since Breast Cancer and all my bills were paid (higher than the actual amount owe) and they never complained my monthly payments, now it is different. It looks that they changed due to the economic problems. I just hope that they look at the entire picture of how unfair is their behavior and that they appreciate when a person wants to make it right. I paid every month, they have the records and still that was not good enough. They placed my name in the credit report as being in collection. I am trying to find if my doctors are serving in other hospital and I will never visit this hospital again. more

Never Go There If Your Life Depended On It 6/6/2010

My 7 mos old son suddenly developed an allergy while we were attending a party. He had big round patches all over his body and face and my sister who is a nurse told me to bring him to a doctor right away because the allergy may progress and he might go into anaphylactic shock. The nearest hospital was Valley Presbyterian so we brought him into the emergency room, and after the initial form filling and documents signing it took us about 30 mins of waiting before we were called in. After the initial examination and a sermon from the nurse that we should watch out with what we feed our baby, we were directed to the fast track department where we were told to sit and wait in a waiting room. All this time my son was very uncomfortable and keeps on scratching the rashes in his face. Its a good thing that my wife had with her a hydrocortisone ointment and we applied it on my son's face, upper torso and legs to at least relieve him of the itchiness. After another hour of waiting the rashes subsided and my sons face started to lose the swelling. By this time we were all very hungry (it was already 10:30 PM) and we ran out of milk to feed my son. So I stood up and went to the nurse station where I spoke politely to somebody who looked like a Filipino male nurse and I told him that my baby seemed well already and we want to go home. This nurse told me to wait because he was still talking with another hospital personnel in the station. I can assure you that the conversation they were having had nothing to do with hospital business. After 10 mins of waiting another patient whom we thought was already in the examination room (she was called just as we arrived in the fast track department waiting room) came out and stated that she also wants to go home. Apparently she told us that after her name was called she was directed to another room where she waited once more. Her baby also ran out of milk from waiting and they were also very hungry. So after over 2 hours in Valley Presbyterian Hospital's emergency service we walked out with the other patient without having our children examined. I just felt that I need to publish this review to help other people who might make a mistake of bringing a patient to this hospital and end up losing the life of that patient. I honestly believe that the patient's life is not a priority of this hospital. Pros: Location is very accessible Cons: Emergency service is terrilble more
