Best

I have taken my dogs there a few times, each time was pretty good, but the last few times I have seen DR. RISKIN and he is absolutely phenomenal! He genuinely cares for the animal...

Worst

My mistake was I mentioned I was from out of town. I took my dog in because he developed a swollen ankle overnight. He has been suffering from aches and pains. After the doctors...

Valley Brook is not an emergency hospital 7/4/2009

I think people need to understand that Valley Brook is not an emergency hospital. We work on appts only. And the Dr.s only have certain time allocated for appts then the rest of the time they are in surgery, just like any other hospital. If it was a true emergency you shouldn't have waiting a week to take the cat to another vet. more

For an Emergency Go Elsewhere 6/20/2009

My wife and I have several cats. We had spent quite a sum of money over time towards their care at Valley Brook. One of them had a recurrent issue which almost cost her, her life. The Vet (Dr. Riskin) had said to "bring her right in if this condition got worse." When I called Valley brook Vet Hospital they told both me and my wife on separate phone calls that "they couldn't see her for over a week" despite Dr. Riskin's orders to "bring her right in if things got worse." We wound up at another hospital that day that understood the urgency of the situation, our cat had to do an overnight stay there severely dehydrated and near death due to her gastric condition. Valley knew this and told us "sorry we're booked solid for the next week". The vet hospital we went to even called Valley Brook Hospital to transfer her records and to inquire as to why they wouldn't see her at 11AM in the midst of a severe emergency. The new Vet hospital had a tough time believing that Valley had turned our cat more

Go elsewhere for an emergency 6/20/2009

The vet hospital we went to even called Valley Brook Hospital to transfer her records and to inquire as to why they wouldn't see her at 11AM in the midst of a severe emergency. The new Vet hospital had a tough time believing that Valley had turned our cat away. Again their office staff reiterated they were booked for the next week. The bottom line is this, if you need a vet hospital that turns you away in emergent situations go to Valley. They just don't care to be bothered. If you want the piece of mind to give your business and your pet's lives to someone dependable in the case that something goes wrong, then go elsewhere. After writing a letter to Dr. Riskin to tell him about what happened he directly we wrote back, ""It's clear your not happy, best of luck to both you and your pets, please do not contact me again"". more

Great, Caring, Knowledgable Vet 5/14/2009

This is a good vet clinic. My kitty recently had successful surgery there that unfortunately resulted in an unrelated ailment and a lot of unforseen extra cost. Dr. Riskin stepped in and did everything he could to help my cat and save her. He truly cared about my pet and not just my money. I cannot thank them enough. If not for him my cat would not still be here. Dr. Meltzer-Press is also a good vet. Although I have a sneaking feeling she may be more of a dog person. :o) Dr. Riskin is very gentile with the animals and does his best to make them calm...even if it takes more time. They are also very thorough with exams, care, and explaining everything to owners. Techs are great as well as the desk staff. It is also an immaculately clean veterinary clinic. I would send anyone I know there. Pros: Care about your animal, knowledgable, clean, reasonably pric Cons: can't think of any more

Dr Riskin, you cannot get much better 5/22/2007

I live in New York and travel to New Jersey to see Doctor Risksin. I met him when he worked at County Animal Clinic in Westcheter NY. He is a very compassionate veternarian and treats every animal with love. He will answer all of your questions and goes out of his way to give you the best treatments available. He has been through good times and bad times with my animals and does all he can to provide them with a good quality of life. Even in the worst case scenario, when there is no more help for your pet, he provides a balance that helps you through it. I will always recommend his services. Pros: Compassionate, Loving and Very Educated Cons: He left New York more
