NO AIR CONDITIONING! That may not be a bad thing during some parts of the year, but during recent record high temperatures, it was sorely missed. Web site fails to mention the fact that there is no A/C. It didn't occur to me that a vacation ""resort"" would NOT have climate control! Medication makes my temperature run high, and A/C is important. The onsite manager was decidedly unfriendly (never smiled during our check in and only gave information if we asked a question) and was less than helpful when we went back to discuss our predicament. She suggested that I ""might want to take responsibility for my own health care needs and found out if air conditioning was available before I made reservations."" Wow! Unprecedented in the hospitality business! \r

The road to Valhalla is in disrepair, and the ""resort"" (not a term I would use for Valhalla, but they use it) is mixed in among many run down shacks/cabins. That isn't clear from the ""resort map"" on the web site. The map is quite deceiving. The view was disappointing as well. The location, however, was convenient to the national forest and park. That was a plus.\r

The cabin itself was very clean, but was only adequate at best. The kitchen had all appliances, but the ""resort"" doesn't even furnish paper towels! The king bed was a wooden box frame (no box springs) with a cheap, thin mattress on it - not very comfortable! There were several notices posted with decidedly negative tones/warnings not to be negligent with the hot tub or fail to wash our own dishes unless we wanted to incur additional charges. We've traveled extensively and never seen such negativity in a place that touts itself as a ""resort."" \r

Fortunately we met many friendly people in Estes Park who more than made up for our very disappointing experience at Valhalla. We also found several other properties that will get our business in the future. Too bad Valhalla doesn't realize customer service is the biggest part of the tourism and vacation industry.\r
