Vaccaro's Italian Pastry Shop

Vaccaros is an Italian dessert shop nestled in Canton Square, and the desserts are phenomenal. They have many different flavors of gelato and all kinds of Italian cookies, but the best items are the specialty desserts. Chocolate cannoli cake, napoleons, and cheesecakes tempt from behind the glass case. Last weekend marked my first visit to that location, and I had something called the Italian sandwich cookie...two round pieces of Devil's food cake surrounding a layer of baci (hazelnut) gelato and topped with hot fudge. It was, in a word, heaven. more

The dessert is awesome. I would highly recommend the Cannoli or the Cheesecake, both of which will melt in your mouth and leave you wanting more. There may be a wait to enjoy the food, but it is definitely worth it. more

I heard about Vaccaros through a friend and have since gone about three times. The portions are very generous and the dessert I have tried has been very fresh. The price was also right. The few times I have gone the line has appeared to be long but it moves very quickly. It is easy to get in and out. If you don't want to wait you can get it to go also. My only complaint is the parking in the area. But what can one do. And it is definitely worth it. more

Vaccaro's is the best all-dessert place in Baltimore. It's a great stop after having dinner at one of the many great places in Little Italy. They have many delicious desserts, a lot of which incorporate the many flavors of gelato that they have on hand. Highly recommended is the peanut butter and chocolate dessert and the belgian waffles that are topped with gelato and other toppings. Definitely big enough to share. They also have a bar and many different kinds of coffee drinks. more

Vaccaro's pastry shop is by far the best Italian pastry shop I've ever been to--a restaurant that serves nothing but desserts. And coffee, which is also wonderful. Their dessert portions are huge--definitely hard to finish even if you eat dessert before dinner. They have a great selection of Italian ice creams, cookies and cakes. It can be hard to get a table--but Vaccaro's is totally worth the wait. more

Vaccaro's is a very good desert restaurant located in the Little Italy district of Baltimore. Whether you want Italian desserts, coffee, and cappuccino, Viccaro's has it all. I would recommend the Italian Ice that they have and you can choose from many different flavors. The wait is sometimes very long, so I would recommend not going during their busy hours, which are usually 6-8 more

Vaccaro's is a local institution. Apparently it's been around for something like 50 years and it's still going strong. We were lucky to be there on a Monday and the crowd was pretty thin. We'd hoped to wait until 6pm when on Mondays "all you can eat dessert" is offered for the princely sum of 12 dollars a person. This may seem steep but once you see Vacarro's dessert selection you understand that a coffee and 2 desserts is a bargain at 12 dollars! So what did we eat? I had a Cinnamon coffee (yum, i wish i could have bought this coffee to bring home) and a traditional canolli. Hubby had a hot chocolate (worth its cost in whipping cream alone) and a Napaleon. All was fresh and tasty and neither of us could finish our desserts. 12 dollars for "all you can eat" would have been a waste i suppose but there were all those treats that involved WAFFLES!!! .... ah well, return visit! I did find the eat-in decor slightly lacking-- i couldn't figure out if it hadn't been updated since they'd been open or if it was an 80s job (heavy on the mauve overtones, you know?). it didn't really matter-- i was more ga-ga over the bakery cases. YUM. unfortunately, i was way to full to even look at them after my canoli. again, there is always next time! more

Vaccaro's in Little Italy is the best dessert place in Baltimore - and probably one of the best in the country. The portions are huge and the prices are cheap. I would recommend the Peanut Butter Fantasy - peanut butter pie with any flavor gelato, Apple Strudel Napoleon, and Death by Chocolate - cannoli cake with chocolate gelato. You can't go wrong with your choice! Remember to bring along a friend so that you can share. more
