I take my cats to see Dr. Franklin on the Laurelwood side, though he primarily works on the "specialty side", and is an Internal Medicine specialist. He's an outstanding vet, and...

Dr. Ronald Earp DVM I'll really advise against, but his partner Erdman is more proficient in my opinion. We gravitated to Erdman after multiple problems with Earp. Anything that...

Dr. Ron Earp Dr. Lynn Eardman Not Recommended, Strongly Not Recommended 2/11/2009

A lot of time has gone by since we left Earp and I thought I'd search the Internet about Dr. Ron Earp and Laurelwood Animal Hospital. \r I was not surprised to see the lots of not only bad reviews, but warnings. \r So far, I've spoken with 4 people in the last 1/2 year who have left Dr. Ron Earp, and some now (in the last couple days) who left Dr. Lynn Eardman too. \r Endless stories of Dr. Ronald Earp being ""lax, careless, overly conservative"" on and on. \r And very much too bad, stories of several dogs having to suffer week after week due, simply, do Dr. Ron Earp's lack of skill. Many people, in leaving Earp and going elsewhere, right away had their dog's condition diagnosed clearly and treated and resolved quickly. \r Dr. Ronald Earp misses infections, prescribes medicines over the phone without asking for an exam, does careless exams missing punctures, eye problems, tumors, repeatedly avoids doing very necessary rectal exams and has missed tumors and infections. The stories go on and on. Word also is he's under investigation by the State of Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board. For failed minimal competency. He also appears quite dishonest, has a strategy to build clients for his new practice (2 years old) by minimizing exams and tests. He also doesn't consult with other doctors to collaborate on complex patients, and his diagnoses are often very inaccurate, and even so unrelated to what is actually occurring with the dog that other vets have said they have no idea what he is doing. Thank you for these websites to comment and warn people. Best advice I can give is to never, never get involved with Dr. Ronald Earp or Dr. Lynn Eardman or their hospital, and to tell as many people as you can that it's not worth the risk, if you care deeply for your dog or cat. Cons: Not Recommended, Stongly Not Recommended more

Excellent staff and care 1/31/2009

Dr. Earp [ (and occasionally Dr.Erdman) has treated my cats and dogs for 12 years. I purposefully followed Dr, Earp to his new hospital because he was one of the few vets I've worked with who took the time to explain all possible causes of symptoms, explain all possible treatments for each then recommend diagnostic tests to get to the root of the problem. He even calls our house in the evening to follow up! I'm particularly impressed with the way he greets my animals and establishes rapport with them before he greets me !He's been nothing but professional and caring with my animals and I highly recommend him. Pros: Extremely caring and competent staff Cons: Left turn into parking area can be difficult during commute times more

Horrible! Dr. Ronald Earp 1/14/2009

Dr. Ronald Earp caused my dog (German Short Haired Pointer) to almost die!\r \r He got bit by another dog, I brought him in because he was having a fever and very tired poor appetite and so on. Earp examined him, found nothing, sent me away. \r \r Things got worse and worse. Earp kept putting us off.\r \r So LUCKILY Earp was gone on the day we brought him in again. The other doctor Lynn Eardman was there and right away found a puncture wound under my dog's ear! By then, he needed to be hospitalized over night, and tons of medicines, and lots of worry about a NOW SEVERE INFECTION!.\r \r This guy Dr. Earp is disgusting. I'm totally not surprised to see all these horrible reviews of him. Dr. Earp, stop practicing medicine, you should loose your license! Leave our loved dog's alone Dr. Earp! Cons: Horrible Dr. Ronald Earp more

Dr Eardman is very poor, staff very inconsistent, Dr Earp overdosed our dog 12/7/2008

Dr. Lynn Erdman is very poor. We fired her a while back. She couldn't keep track of our wonderful dog's history. I mean, she couldn't keep track of what she did in the past and when, what other doctors did and when, and seemed bothered about having to look CAREFULLY through our dog's history notes. Just to bad. And sad. & she's caustic at time. Impatient. & dosn't work CLOSELY with the other doctor in her office, Dr. Ronald Earp. He we saw a couple times and he's really incompetent. Me and my husband said he often can't simply make a decision. & gives us long long long almost unending discussion and then can't even decide what to do. & when he decides, he seems very unconfidant at times. He also gave our dog an overdose of pain medicine! & didn't order a complete x-ray series! Put us weeks behind having our dog's problem addressed! \r Overall a horrible experience with often incompetent doctors. \r Now the staff. Misplaced x-rays, took days to find them, they led us on and on. Then they seemed to not like us calling.\r Thank goodness to be away from there. more

Dr. Erdman is now at the Laurelwood Animal Hospital 11/21/2008

Dr. Erdman is no longer at the Raleigh Hills Veterinary Clinic, but at the Laurelwood Animal Hospital. The following review is for Dr. Erdman at the Laurelwood Animal Hospital.\r \r Last year, one of my cats became lethargic, his eyes were cloudy, and he began having difficulty walking. I called the Laurelwood Animal Hospital and got an appointment for the next morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr. Erdman ran a number of tests, including bloodwork, X rays, and eventually a CT scan, and within a week she found a mass in his brain that was pushing on his optic nerve. During this period of diagnosis he had become completely blind. During this process, Dr. Erdman was extremely compassionate. She also gave me all the information I needed, but she never pushed for a particular type of decision. He was given steroids to reduce the swelling. Within two days of taking the steroids, his vision began to return. Within a week, he was back to normal, and he has remained that way for the past year. Dr. Erdman was very caring, prompt, and professional throughout.\r \r Recently I took him and my other cat to Dr. Erdman for an annual checkup, and both appear to be generally healthy, although she pointed out some areas where they could use improvement or monitoring. Again, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, and Dr. Erdman took the time to give both cats a thorough examination and answer all of my questions. She again suggested several options, but she never pushed for a particular decision. I can not recommend the Laurelwood Animal Hospital and Dr. Erdman highly enough. Pros: everything more

Caring, Communicative and Competent 10/9/2008

I am not sure who wrote the previous comment(s), but I couldn't disagree more. I've known the doctors at Laurelwood for ten years and they've given wonderful care to my pets. \r Additionally, I think it's slanderous to write the kinds of things I just read here.\r The Dr. Earp I know is a warm, gentle and caring man as well as a great vet. He returns my calls and takes great care to explain everything to me. He's been nothing but kind.\r The entire staff is courteous and professional.\r I highly recommend Laurelwood Animal Hospital. Pros: Prompt service. Extended hours. Always feel comfortable and welcome. Cons: None that I can think of. more

Judgemental, breed-biased vet 9/23/2008

My husband and I scheduled a ""consultation"" visit w/ Dr. Eardman prior to getting our male rottweiler. I was shocked and disappointed to learn that breed-bias and ignorant prejudice are prevalent among vets- didn't see that one coming! Dr. Eardman listed multiple reasons why we should not get a rottweiler, and essentially ""shamed"" us both - highly inappropriate behavior for a ""professional."" She assumed things about us, imputed motives, and spent time lecturing us. \r Breed bias DOES do harm- and vets should be advocates for all animals, and responsible animal owners.\r I am happy to say that we are now the proud owners of 2 rotties- and yes, training and behavior modification have been required, but these dogs are not ""aggressive"" - in fact, Dr. Eardman, you would have been lucky to have our dogs as patients- because we have money to spend on care, are committed to our animals, and are educated, pro-active dog-owners... in this economy, if you can afford to turn that down, hats off to you! PS- next time you decide to lecture people, you may want to know your audience- my husband and I both have doctoral degrees (his MD, mine PhD) and it turns out that we do have the ability to comprehend complex decisions. Go figure. more

Dr Ron Earp WARNING Incompetent 8/4/2008

Eardman works with Dr. Ron Earp. He's been established by many dog owners to be very careless, poor at complex diagnosis, uneducated about complicated matters, neglectful of very salient symptoms, lets important symptoms persist for weeks before doing anything, dismisses dog-owner reports of symptoms constantly, PROVEN FAILURE TO DO SIMPLE EXAMS PROPERLY.\r \r When attempts are made to reveal to Earp what he's done, he is strikingly cold hearted, shows no remorse or culpability, even in the face of 1-3 opinions showing he was wrong.\r \r Earp avoids x-rays even when they are absolutely necessary. He also forgets to do x-rays, is incompetent at doing blood-draws, he won't do them even when asked.\r \r Ron Earp's strategy in building his business has been to minimize the need for owners to come in for appointments, have exams done, etc. This has led to several dog's suffering and death. Proven. Cons: INCOMPETENCE WARNING DR. RON EARP more

Dr. Earp is wonderful to my dog and me. 2/11/2008

Dr. Earp is wonderful to animal and humans. He's gentle and kind to my dog. He spoils her and allows her to jump all over him and lick him. So much for training a puppy. She loves him. \r \r The first thing I did when I adopted her was to make sure Dr. Earp said she was OK. Since then I have a wonderful pet and she has a wonderful vet.\r \r He took care of my last dog who had cancer -- and I can't think of anyone who would call me DAILY to make sure she was OK and also me.\r \r Pros: Thorough, receptive, follows up and ease of appts. more

My dog recently needed surgery and the staff of Laurelwood and the orthopedic surgeon(Dr. VanGundy) I had for my dog's surgery was wonderful, I can't say enough good things about these people, they love animals and the work they do!!!!! more
