The Best Veterinarians in town! 12/5/2011

I've been going to this Veterinarian for years and I would never go anywhere else. All the staff and Veterinarians are very professional and compassionate. We've had several cats treated by Dr. Donovan and Dr. Trefz, they were right on with their diagnosis and treatment. I would never trust anyone else but the Veterinarian Hospital. more

I would never change my vet! These Dr's are the best! 1/30/2009

I have been going there for years with all of my Schitz Tzus' I have had excellent care for my animals there. He was rescued by me and was in horrible condition. Dr. D was great with him and he was in beautiful condition in no time. I bought him a companion for Christmas and named her Candie Cane and he had a quality life before his death around the time of the Eukanuba problems. But Cookie developed my love for the breed and we bought another male. Now after 5 litters, Dr D saving a 1lb puppy for me, and another with a broken leg who is fantastic like nothing ever happened. The office is great to me and really help me in every way they can. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for them. Not cheap but competitive and well worth it. Right across from the Post Office on Belcher Ave and has a wonderful groomer at the dead end next to there building. Fantastic. I love them. Pros: Groomer Andrea owner of Precoscious Pets at the deadend in the next building is awsome and so good with animals. Cons: Not cheap but has 50 percent off shots on Weds more

Excellent Animal Hospital 7/11/2007

My parents and I have been clients of Gulf Bay Animal Hospital since 1972! They have taken excellent care of our 4 dogs and dozen plus cats over the 3 decades. Never once have we experienced any problems with animal care. They have been there for me when we have had crisis in our personal family, helping with the care of the animals thru surgery, old age , the decision of when it is best to put our beloved animal down. During my own personal fight with cancer, they were very suppportive and understanding , sharing , and helping me thru those years as I brought in my animals with their own health issues. The staff that works with the doctors are so kind and caring. Very knowlegable with any health question about animals. They have also taken care of my classroom pets and a few wildlife babies that where thrown out of the nests. I highly recommend Gulf Bay Animal Hospital. They are family! Toby, Chester, Gertie, Santana, Carla, and Brutis's MOM Pros: Everything! Cons: Sometimes parking but that means they are busy!!!!!! more

Vet Mis-Diagnosed Poisonin' 3/21/2007

3/3/07 I came home & noticed my dog not feeling well. She wouldn't eat, had a LOUD grumbling stomach to the point my cat ran from her. Every pet gets an upset tummy; assumed this was her issue & thought she'd be fine in the AM The next AM I discovered she slept outside all night; been throwing up & now VERY sick. So sick was unable to stand when she drank H2O from her bowl - literally had to sit on the floor to drink, only to throw it up again. Immediately took her to this vet -she had mass cell tumors before BUT had been chk'd by my previous vet 3Xs in the last yr & had clean bill of health. I gave the vet ALL her symptoms, type of food she ate, was just at doggy beach, etc I noticed @ the time this vet seemed too concerned w/her previous history & questioned her prognosis; my gut told me her tumors hadn't returned. While she did give us antibiotics, etc. she made it very clear it was to treat what she thought was the onset of mass cell tumors again. The day after visit ? still had ?explosive? (not my word noted in her chart by this vet) dairhea. NEVER occurred to this vet it could be poisonin' (they ignored she?d been @ doggy beach) or if it did - was NEVER relayed to me by anyone @ this facility This vet's preoccupation w/her history apparently clouded her judgment as to why my dog was sick now. Yesterday Menu Foods recalled the food she was on - it caused kidney failure & ultimately death in 9 animals. I have found several of the recalled bags in our home. While I can't guarantee this is what caused her sickness - she had all the symptoms of kidney failure & this vet overlooked it because of her previous history & mistakenly assumed the tumors had returned instead While I'm thankful for the x-rays & bl00d work that were done to rule out the tumors had not returned - it's really a miracle she survived as the antibiotics she was given were to treat a completely different problem If you luv your pet plz think twice about going to this vet Pros: None Cons: Mis-diagnosed more
