We have been taking our pets to Companion Care for 20 years now. Since Dr. Danhaus left there have been changes, mostly in the form of joining the VCA network. The VCA network groups services into packages which have a designated rate. It is not necessary to participate in the entire package though, you can ask to just have specific exams/labs done. Essentially a clinic must pay to be apart of the VCA network as it has many benefits but it also has some different operating standards. \r \r We have ALWAYS received excellent care from here. It seems that many of the negative reviews are associated to a lack of understanding or question asking. Effective vet care is a combination of both the owner's knowledge of the animal and the vet's expertise. Dr. Lisa and Dr. Karen are both wonderful vets who are more than willing to answer any questions. Dr. Karen has gone out her way to call me regarding various issues many times before. TERRIBLE SERIVCE 2/24/2010

Im posting a letter sent to the clinic to explain what happened and why this is a poor clinic. I called them 3 times with no return call from the office manager. \r \r Duke was seen at the ER Sunday Jan 31st. He was yelping in pain and had been lethargic since we brought him home on Saturday January 30th. X-rays were taken and pain medications were given at the ER. They also ended up putting a cast on Dukes elbow immobilizing the joint. This made it possible for Duke to stand and go to the bathroom as well as ease his pain. It just so happened that we had a puppy wellness exam scheduled for the Monday following our Sunday night visit to the ER. We feel that a thorough puppy wellness exam was not done. If had been, we feel the doctor would have notice the discoloration in Duke?s gums; which is a sign of a sick puppy and also a sign of the type of infection Duke was diagnosed with at Fox Valley. We repeatedly stated that Duke had not suffered any trauma, and had been lethargic since we b more

I have to retract my previous comments (thank goodness!!!) 6/26/2007

I wrote a review in March of 2006 which was, well; scathing. Things have improved tremendously. Dr. Fisher has been incredible and the people at the reception desk have been friendly, kind, and very proactive. I am not sure what caused the improvement, but I am glad that I didn't take my two cats elsewhere for their health needs. I am very pleased with the service *especially Dr. Fisher*--she really is an excellent vet with excellent follow through. more

I have enjoyed this clinic 4/4/2006

I have had a pet for the past 5 years and have no issues with the clinic. They have always answered my questions promptly and when we have a problem, they have gotten me in to see a vet quickly. more

Rude Receptionist--Poor Customer Service 3/14/2006

I will be transferring my animals' records to a different clinic immediately. The receptionist treated me rudely when I inquired about the payment plan that VCA advertises on their door. I have found the vet staff to be very thorough, but this was not the first time I have gotten abrupt, rude answers from the front-desk staff. The care is expensive and the prices unwarranted when the customer service is so poor. more

Better than noted 2/20/2006

While I agree that the vets will nickel and dime you to death - i.e., your dog needs shots, they insist on a compete physical so it costs you $100 - I do believe that they do a thorough job, and care for the animals. I have not experienced any rude behavior from any of the staff.\r \r Plus, as noted, their hours are much more convenient than others I have been to in the past. PROS: CONS: Price more

Bad 7/18/2005

I agree with the previous poster, this vet clnic is aweful. They are not friendly at all (reception has been a few times) and the doctors are short and charge WAY too much for what they do. They did not even react well with my pets the few times they have gone there. The only times I have gone there is because of the hours - they are open later and on the weekend (and on call) otherwise, dont bother - save your money and go someplace else. more

Don't bother with this Vet Clinic 7/3/2005

Since Dr. Danhaus retired and left VCA Companion Care, the place has gone downhill. I chose to take my dog elsewhere after Dr. Danhaus left. They nickel and dime you to death with tests that are not needed and the staff has turned into a nightmare. PROS: NOTHING CONS: Price gouging, rude and uncaring staff more
