Editorial review from Citysearch 12/19/2014

I have been going to Carrollwood Cats for 15 years. My cats have always received excellent care. I started out taking my kittens there because it was a cat-only hospital and that appealed to me. They were also willing to treat some of the rescues I cared for though they weren't tame. Well, my cats are now senior cats and I wouldn't trust their care to any other place. Doctor Williams is outstanding and Michelle is an Angel. I highly recommend them if you want the highest quality, most compassionate care for your cat family. more

I am not sure If the others are talking about the same Carrollwood Cats that I know but here is my 2 cents. This hospital is great. I have taken both of my cats there for over 5 years. I will tell you things have changed and some of them not for the better since Dr. Wadsworth left. Once the practice was sold all the prices went up. I guess that is to be expected on corporate buy outs. Regardless, the hospital is still great. Dr Williams is an angel and she has such compassion for my girls. I have never taken them to see Dr. Mango so I cannot comment. more

Never again! 6/21/2012

I will NEVER take any of my cats there again. Had 2 bad experiences, but the last was the worst. I took my cat for a stuffy nose and runny eye. The vet did blood tests, told me my cat had end stage renal failure, kidneys were shriveled to almost nothing, and probably wouldn't survive another month. She suggested I hospitalize him for 7-10 days for fluids and monitoring to make his last days more comfortable or to euthanize him immediately. Also was told he had high blood pressure. Unfortunately did not have the financial resources to hospitalize and decided to take him home. Was sent with a bag of fluids, blood pressure med, antibiotic for eye and drops for nose to make him comfortable with what time he had left. He became more and more listless and lost weight as days passed and were going to have him put down as the vet recommended. Had a family emergency and were not able to give fluids, meds for 3 days. My cat was totally back to his playful, normal self. That was over more

Best Cat Vet at reasonable prices 3/18/2011

Carrollwood Cats changed vets several years ago and as a past and current client I can tell you it's like night and day. Dr Williams, Dr. Mango and all the staff truely adore the cats they care for and treat us kitty parents wonderfully. more

Would never go anywhere else. 6/18/2010

What a fantastic facility, we ended up adopting our kitty from VCA, unexpectantly-just went in for cat food and voila...another kitty. This special needs kitty was dropped off by someone to be euthanized. She was only a couple of weeks old & suffered from an upper resp. infection. Not only did they NOT euthanized, they treated/healed her at the clinics cost. While I was there other kitties were dropped off/kitties that were refused by other vet clicnics. What a caring facility. Our new kitty is fantastic, and we are enjoing her to the fullest. Kudos for this clinic and the services it provides. If the clinic charges a bit more than others, so be it--they treat so many animals in need, if I have to pay a couple of bucks more I will. Pros: Caring Doctors/Staff more

Been going there for years and the staff has always been professional and kind concerning my cat. He had a serious mouth infection that was treated with success. My cat went from terrible suffering to cured. He's an old cat but for now he's got new life. As far as the negative reviews I've seen here they represent nothing of what I've seen at VCA when concerning the competence and professionalism of the doctors and staff. \r \r There is a hard truth about about having a pet you love. Someday the vet is going to tell you something you don't want to hear. more

DANGEROUS VETERINARIAN 2/28/2010

Dangerous Veterinarian!!!! If I had not gotten a second opinion my cat would be dead!!! And this is not the first time. I was an idiot to give them another chance. The doctors at Carrolwood Cats know nothing about cats..nor do they really care. Nasty people. Even if they pretend to be nice to you?Do not take your precious kitty kids here!!! more

disappointment 1/18/2010

I'll never take my cats here again. This is not the same place since it was bought by VCA. Be warned, it went corporate- I believe the original Carrollwood Cats doctor retired and now you have Wadsworth. The last time I went there I really wasn't impressed- I won't tell my story, it's just not the same now. I had gone here for at least 15 years, but am now looking for a new vet. more

Good Experience! 9/8/2009

The staff was very friendly and understanding ( I ended up being 30 min late ). Dr. Kelly Williams was much help. She treated my cats extremely well and took care of what needed to be done in a timely manner. I didn't feel forced to have any further treatment/ testing than necessary. She was also very personable and continued to ask me if I had any other questions. Overall, my experience was good and I would definitely recommend them to a friend. Pros: Location, atmosphere, and friendly staff Cons: Somewhat affordable more

What you gain in their reasonable cost is lack of kindness 5/29/2009

I went here a few years ago. My cat had teeth problems and needed attention. Carrollwood cats was reasonably priced. I took her in and the vet was so incredibly nasty, I was in awe. Just mean and downright rude. I could see this reflected in the rest of the staff. While nobody was out and out as nasty as the main vet (stacy wadsworth i think is her name), you could see they were unhappy in their jobs. And why wouldn't they be? If Ms. Wadsworth treats her customers like that, imagine how she treats her staff? Pros: inexpensive, qualified care, specialize in cats only Cons: Vet is a nasty woman and this has clearly affected staff more

not really great 8/3/2008

You would expect specialist treatment given the name. We took our cat there with a bowel movement problem (I am apparently not allowed to name the medical term for liquid excretions on this site), and they prescribed 4 unrelated medications without looking for the cause. Basically, they preferred to cover all the bases by using a de-wormer (but there was really little chance of worms; these are healthy indoor cats), an antibiotic, an antispasmatic, and something else (can't recall now). We lost confidence in the treatment because it was so "canned," when we expected specialist care. more

Affordable and friendly 6/30/2008

I had to bring one of my cats in with an emergency. Unfortunately my cat had to be euthanized. It was very difficult and Dr. Wadworth and staff were very compassionate. The estimate of charges was given ahead of time with an explanation of charges at my request. Dr. Wadsworth then worked with me to cut some of the charges down and start with one test at a time before making a decision of the more costly tests. The tests done to confirm Leukemia and the euthanization was affordable compared to my experience with other vets in my area. I have since brought in my other two cats for check-ups and to be checked for the illness, they were clear, and vaccine against the illness and found the experience equally as comforting and affordable. The staff on both occassions was courteous and knowledgeable. Although the circumstances were unfavorable with our initial sick cat, I am glad to have discovered Carrollwood cats and will consider them our family vet from here on out. I'm not sure the standards of some of the people who posted complaints but know through my own experiences with vets that there are some horrible ones out there that treat you and your pet like dirt, charge you an arm and a leg for sub-par treatment and then expect you to thank them for the bad treatment. This is not one of those places. Pros: Caring staff and affordable services more

Knowledgeable, but pricey 5/19/2008

As a multi-cat mom, I highly recommend Stacey Wadsworth as a vet. Not only is she knowledgeable (attending seminars to keep up with the latest treatments and breakthroughs in cat care), but is well-known throughout the Tampa area by animal advocates whom she has helped with their strays, etc. Pros: knowledgeable vets, thorough Cons: pricey more

don't expect good bedside manner 10/17/2007

Dr. Wadsworth seems to lack an empathy chip. She dispatched the vet care with competance but is intolerant of proactive pet owners and prefers to call the shots. My cat was very ill and Dr. Wadsworth refused to treat some of my cat's problems because she was just going to die anyway! When I requested that they try to help her with those problems she became petulant and began giving me the silent treatment when I went in to visit my hospitalized cat. I will never go back again - strangely I had not had any problems until I had a sick cat. When just giving vaccinations and basic routine vet care there were no problems. But any vet can handle those things....the important thing is how they handle the pet and owner in a crisis. Pros: location, parking Cons: snooty staff temperamental and cold vet more

Best Care in Tampa for a cat 4/23/2007

I've been a client for over 15 years of De. Stacie and have observed nothing but very professional care and concern for each and everyone of my 4 cats...The staff is very friendly and professional, they will make you and your pet feel right at home. Do not understand why some people find just the opposite. Pros: Professional employees Cons: don't really have any more

Incompetent 4/3/2007

Not recommended. I was there recently one Friday morning and the entire staff was exrtemely rude and childish. Leaving my pet there made me really uncomfortable knowing that nearly all the techs are practically kids who look like their still in highschool. Two "techs" came in the room to discuss some things with me and when I had questions it was like they had no idea what I was talking about nor did it sound like they had any idea what THEY were talking about. Non of it made sense and it was really unsettling knowing that this was supposedly a place of care. When I asked to speak to the Dr.Wadsworth, she acted as if i was wasting her time. When I was ready to check out, they then dispenced the wrong medication to me and didnt even seem bothered by their error. Unfortunaetly I have heard good things about the other Doctor never bring my cat back to this place. more

gloriuuhhhh 12/23/2006

well gloriaaa-they probably didn't want to let you adopt a cat because you are illiterate. Get over it. Pros: plenty of parking-friendly staff-professional care more

NEVER TAKE YOU CAT HERE! 12/11/2006

They are the rudest and most unprofessional group of people i have even been around. Pros: Location Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE. more

worst vet ever 9/21/2006

I found the Vet and staff rude and arrogant, it appeared to me that all the care was motivated by money. ie Labs pushed and ordered but not used for clinical judgement. My cat was sick and basic clinical and laboratory data was ignored, medication was given aggressively with resulting seizures and loss of my cat. In my opinion if this Vet would only treat her patients as well as her diploma, she would better serve her patients and their owners. Pros: location Cons: everything else more

very good place to take your pets too 9/6/2006

i currently take my four cats here for hair grooming and other services i really like the people that work here and the place is very clean. and my cats really like this place alot PROS: friendly and clean CONS: expeinsive more
