My most precious kitteh, Abby, developed lung cancer. Through Dr. Julie Kelly, we did everything we could for her. She finally reached a point where it was - either keep on meds-- or let her go. Abby became more and more ill-I didn't want to see her suffer. I may have kept her longer than I should have, Dr. Kelly helped me make the decision to put her down. I grieve for this kitty....it's a long story; I think I have finally let my grief for Abby culminate into the grief I tried to cover up from the deaths of my Father, Mother and Husband and 2 other kittehs. Dr Kelly is SO kind and empathetic....I would NEVER let a kitteh be cared for if Dr. Julie was not their Dr. I miss Abby so much,,,,,I'm kind of thinking about a new kitteh...will need to talk to Dr. Julie 1st. Everyone at Aspenwoood was so kind....I can never repay their help and goodness. If you have ah ill kitteh.....PLEASE ask for Dr. Kelly. You won't regret her abilities and empathy!!!! more

Best Vet Service 12/2/2009

We first came to this vet in the worst sort of situation, with our dog becoming extremely sick. After having called over 20 different vets to try to get our dog in to be seen, only VCA Aspenwood was willing to see her that day. After hearing no for over an hour, there response of "bring her in immediately and we will fit you in." From there, our expereience with the staff was phenomenal, being extrmemely caring and knowledgeable. Our dog was there for over a week, and unfotunately she did not make it, but the staff made the situation as positive as possible, allowing us to spend as much time with her as we wanted, going above and beyond to help with financing, and even contacting other vets and field specialists to help try and resolve everything. When our dog finally did pass, it was a Saturday and the doctor who had been working with us, Dr. Kelly, came in on her day off to help be there for us. I cannot think of a more ideal vet and I will never go anywhere else. more

Dr. Hedlin was recommended to me by many other dog owners, and I am certainly glad I took their advice! Dr. Hedlin is a caring, thorough vet and her staff is 100% dedicated to my dogs needs. I have taken my dog to VCA Aspenwood since he was a puppy, and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. Dr. Hedlin and everyone at VCA Aspenwood are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you and your pet are happy and healthy. more

Terrible supporting staff-- Take your loved pet somewhere else 9/12/2006

Dr. Hedlin is a decent veterinarian, but the rest of the staff at Aspenwood Animal hospital, although caring, is less than competent. I took my new puppy there for the first few months I had her and I was told contradicting things numerous times. I was given an "all inclusive" price for her spay, but when it came time to pay, they changed it and said that the pre-op work up was extra raising the price almost $100! I was also told that my pet was doing fine when she was there for surgery, but when I picked her up the next day I was told that she barked the whole time she was in the kennel (she is NOT a barker) and she was in so much pain! Those are just two examples of the contradicting information I was given. I will not take my dog back to Aspenwood because of the supporting staff; Dr. Hedlin should find a better office. Pros: dr. is decent, staff does seem to care about animals Cons: incompetent staff, expensive, no inter-office communication more

Treats Cancer 8/18/2005

Dr. Julie is the greatest. She is very knowledgeable, compassionate and I just can't say enough good things about her. She treated my 2 year old cat who was diagnosed with cancer of the bone marrow. I had called all over town trying to find someone who would and could try to treat the disease because I couldn't afford VRCC's prices. Doing chemo on a pet is far from being cheap. Dr. Julie understood this and when it got to the point the chemo wasn't helping my cat, Dr. Julie was upfront with me about this. She was able to provide a drug option when the chemo failed. Thanks to this idea, my cat lived 9 months longer than it should of. more

Great place to feel confident in pet care! 7/22/2005

The waiting room and exam rooms are very clean and it doesn't smell like a vets office. Prices are reasonable. Only complaint is a bad experience with rude receptionist, all other people working there were great! overall great place to take pet. more
