Used Computer Store

I went in here looking for a particular kind of power cord that I was having trouble finding elsewhere, and they happened to have it, so I was really happy, and I don't think the price was unreasonable. It's good for that kind of thing. I also like the idea of buying things used rather than buying more new stuff and letting the old stuff go into landfills. more

Not only did the incredibly polite and amicable staff at The Used Computer Store diagnose and fix the seemingly impossible problem, they did it for cheaper than Eid's staff charged to ruin my computer in the first place. Great success and patient, pleasant staff; I definitely reccomend The Used Computer Store. more

I spoke to Bill and he was extremely helpful and stood behind their generic brand for batteries. He assured me no one has ever come back with a problem with the product but promised a 6-month warranty. He also gave me lots of unsolicited advice about how to keep my G4 happy 'til its very last day. Which in this economy, you bet your bottom's dolla that's what I'm gonna do. more

This place is the best. Functional archival quality in those hard to find components. As for all those whiners complaining about the service....Ever been to AJAX dismantlers for a water pump, this is the same thing except for computers so if you want service try CompUsa. Just keep driving around, you'll find one; eventually. more

I have bought 2 computers from these guys and what was paid was more than made up by their further service. admittedly their return policy could use some work but Bill and the other staff there have been very patient with all my stupid questions and I would use this store again. more

My HS senior came home from school with six hours of homework only to discover that his computer charger had died. He was panicked. I called Best Buy in Emeryville where we buy everything. Let it ring 20 times. Let it ring 20 times again. Was there really nobody working there who could pick up the phone in the sales department for a customer? While on hold I started searching for alternatives. SO GLAD to find this store and discover it was open until 8 pm. Read the most recent review which was great, but a little concerned about the lesser reviews. I called anyways and chatted with Jeff. He put me on hold to check the inventory to make sure he had the correct charger before I drove over from Oakland. The price was appropriate. When I arrived he grabbed the charger, ensured that it worked properly, and reminded me that there was a 90 day warranty. Drove home, son plugged new charger into old laptop and he has been happily working on his school project for hours. I completely recommend this store! The guys working there were nice, helpful, and certainly deserve our business. Prices seemed fair. The charger was $59 for my son's HP. My charger for my Dell recently died and Dell charged us $150!! more

This is a community business that thinks highly of their customers instead of trying to squeeze every dime out of them. In a recent transaction, of many, they charged me $15 labor to install a new keyboard on a HP persario laptop without any problems or delay in the work more

The Used Computer Store has saved my life. I brought in my lifeless computer not thinking it had a hope in the world since the shady folks at Eid's had uploaded an incompatible Russian version of Windows onto my computer. I couldn't even get to my main page. This place is great! I've gotten much-needed odd's and end's for my computer (like: a wireless card, an a/c cord for half of my battery charger). All at good prices too, I don't know why every else's reviews are so bad! True- the store is, without a doubt, aesthetically UNpleasing. BUT! While my mom was visiting me for a week from FL, she went to this store and they spent probably 2-3 hours with her teaching her how to use her computer! Which is incredible! Thank you, thank you, nice people who work there!? more
