This post office is so bad that when I went to the Hockley USPS to get a P.O. Box, I met 2 people from my neighborhood who had done the same thing AND the wonderful person behind the desk told us she requested a transfer out of the Cypress USPS because it was so bad. Yes, they return packages and mail for no apparent reason and stamp them 'Rejected' or 'No Forwarding Address' or 'Undeliverable' even when the address is correct. If you call to ask why, they ask 'what day was that?' How could anyone know the day the postal carrier returned a letter? Their pat answer is 'it must have been a temp'. If you need to send packages with reliable tracking, go to Hockley just 10mins up 290. They scan them same day & tracking shows the next day. USPS doesn't seem to update their tracking but at least you have proof that USPS accepted the package. Packages I have handed to someone behind the Cypress USPS desk don't get scanned unless they are large (my experience), but they may not get scanned for a week or more. Smaller packages either never get scanned or they get scanned over a week later in Coppell, TX. Why? After a layoff several years ago, several of the people behind the desk have been intent upon showing their 'hardship' by making it as slow and painful as possible for patrons. Even if you state up front 'I just need to mail this package with insurance', they will ask you a list of questions about everything else to waste your time. Don't interrupt because no matter what you say they are still hell bent on asking their list of questions. I witnessed 2 people asking for an application to open a P.O. Box who regretted asking this one particular black lady who likes to torment patrons. She went thru her memorized schpeel about filling out an application, etc. 'yes, that's why I asked for an application' .. she repeated her schpeel again. Then she regurgitated the paragraphs of text printed on the applications. Save yourself & sign up online for a box in Hockley, then take a copy of your online form to Hockley and in 5 minutes you'll have a P.O. Box. You could drive to Cypress USPS and wait 45 minutes then be tortured or you could drive to Hockley, be greeted by friendly professional staff, and be out the door in a few minutes. Even when there is a line, it's only 4-5 people deep & they work thru it very quickly .. very very quickly.
