Your pet will get good care! 1/13/2010

I've taken my pets to Marina Pet Hospital for more than 25 years and in my experience they're a good animal hospital. I was surprised to see the bad reviews - although I can't argue with the comments about the front desk staff. The veterinarians at Marina are uniformly excellent. Their health insurance is a bargain. It's cheaper than any other pet insurance I've looked at ($150/year for my 11 year old dog) and it's saved me money every year. I've recommended it to lots of other pet owners. If you can overlook the waiting room and the pet-loving but not always customer friendly staff, your pet will get good care. -lasheets more

always been pleased with the outstanding care 1/12/2010

I've been taking my pets to Marina Pet Hospital since 1980 and have always been pleased with the outstanding care and referrals my pets receive. After a recent experience with a stray cat and her kittens, I cannot say enough great things about these folks. The entire staff went way above and beyond with care, advice, and maximizing value. Yes, the front desk staff could use some polishing, but they all love animals and the vets are outstanding. They're not cheap, but offer a good insurance plan, and the expertise and kindness more than makes up for it. I recommend them to everyone looking for quality care for their pets. I'm sorry that the other users had a diminished experience - I never have. more

Great place with very knowlegeable and friendly people. My 2-month-old puppy was completely calm and relaxed the whole time, even when she was getting a shot, and I credit the vet's friendly and calming demeanor. It's also easy to get an appointment (I got my puppy on Sunday and had an appointment for her shots on Monday) and the health coverage that the hospital offers is comprehensive and relatively inexpensive. All around good experience and great quality of care. more

initially dreaded bringing my dogs here based on the negative reviews. But I needed to see someone right away and they had an opening. However, I have had nothing but GREAT experiences here. I would agree that the reception folks are not the best in customer service, but I have been lucky and have never had a bad experience with them. I think Dr. Wolfe is wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and takes her time with you. She always makes follow up calls to see how my dog is after a visit and really makes me feel like she cares about my dog's health. I bought the insurance and I would say it's worth it if your dog is ill or needs to be seen frequently. more

I took my newly adopted my cat, Oliver here for a check up on Saturday morning. It was an 8am, the first appointment-- and although they opened about 5-10 minutes late, the rest of the visit went smooth. Dr. Kim was very patient with my long list of questions, and very informative. She treated Oliver well. As far as cost goes, I'm not sure because I'm a new owner. But, Oliver was tested for feline leukemia and aids as well as dewormed for $80... you make be the judge. Overall, good service, I'll be back! more

Thank you Dr. Kim for saving my baby! My beagle was throwin up and poopin mucous and blood. GROSS, yes I know. He seemed to get a bacterial infection which Dr. Kim explained was common during rainy season. He must of drank from a puddle that was contaminated. Well fast forward all the details. He is better and it's all because of her! Everytime I have an emergency I am always able to get in the same day with no problems which is great. I won't always count on the easy scheduling, but so far so good. Dr. Kim is a loving vet. When she walks in the room it's as if she has a halo above her head. She truly does love pets and you can see it in her eyes. She even apologized to me when having to perform a rectal exam on my baby. I told her it's not me you have to apologize to. The front staff is great. Yeah they're ghetto, but so am I so our personalities match. They always greet me when I walk in and are never rude. I have seen how many stuck up snotty people and their princess pets they have to deal with and they maintain composure. This hospital is out of my way considering I don't have a car and have to walk many miles to get here, but well worth it for Dr. Kim! - Christina B. more

I've been a client of Marina Pet Hospital for 15+ years and I've always received incredible service, with a wealth of knowledge, and compassion for my animal. When I first went to Marina PH my vet was Dr. Shelia Martin, and every since she left, Dr. Debra Melcon has been tending to my pets.....Both have offered exceptional treatment and guidance throughout the years! more

The surgical team here is incredible. If your animal needs the best doctors - this is where you want to be. It may be a little more expensive, but when your animal survives I guarantee that you won't be thinking about money. Despite the other reviews, I have found the reception staff at this hospital to be friendly, but the vet techs are the best. I will not trust other places, not when I have found someplace so reliable. - Danielle D. more

I read all the reviews and so was extremely wary when we brought our new pup into MPH. Dr Wilhem was fantastic, as were both receptionists. They took as much time as we needed and have given us a followup call already. It was the cheapest in our area for a visit and after buying the insurance plan, we know we'll be getting a good deal in future. more

I am extremely happy with the Marina Pet Hospital. It is easy to make an appointment with the doctor you want. I go with Dr. Wolfe simply because she was the first doctor I saw there and I never saw a need to change. So, I am not saying anything negative about the others. I just don't know them. Dr. Wolfe is very knowledgeable, personable, and accessible. I never felt rushed with her. She really helped my Dalmatian live a long, comfortable life. Their prices are comparable to vets in the Marina area. I really appreciated their early drop off and late pickup options during the weekdays. They are also open Saturday and Sunday! I recommend the pet insurance if you have an older and/or accident prone dog..... more

We visit Marina Pet Hospital to see Dr. Melcon. She is open, honest, cares about our pets and provides us with options. She has offered amazing care to our puppies to our elderly cat and dog dying of cancer. While I hate having to go to Marina as it typically means something is wrong, I always look forward to seeing Melcon. more

Always easy to get an appointment and you always have the products and dog food I need. Rowena is immensely friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Kim is very thorough, returns phone calls promptly and is terrific at answering questions. Thanks for the opportunity to weigh-in. more
