Great Store 12/12/2009

Good: They had every book I needed for class, even the foreign books. I didn't see these anywhere else.. Bad: Prices are a little high, however they are cheaper than the other 2 stores on campus. It may be true you can get them cheaper online, but Internations editions arent always the same and trying to return a book to a person that sold it on amazon can be difficult to impossible. Improvements: The website needs work and the store could use some new carpeting, lighting and shelving.. Other: All in all I think this is a great store. What most people don't know, is that this is the only on campus store that benefits the students when you shop there. All money spent in this store goes back into the University and is then spent around campus for green spaces, student activities, etc.. more

Actually a great store 12/31/2008

Good: Selection, very helpful and friendly, large store. Bad: website, dated store look and feel. Improvements: some renovation, new website, lower prices, more discounts. more

Expensive. Terrible Selection. 11/13/2005

If you want the most painless process for getting your books for classes, preorder them and pay the outrageous fee to this bookstore. If you want to save over 75% on your book costs, wait till the first week of class, find out if you need your book or not (and if it is on reserve in the library), and then order ONLINE. I didn't buy a single book here last fall (18 credits). Although they quoted me $465 for my books, I purchased them online for $238. Also don't make the mistake of selling your books to these crooks. Sell them on eBay or Half.com and save yourself a ton of money. more

One of the better bookstores I've visited 9/26/2005

This college bookstore is surprisingly large. They have a wide selection of Pitt merchandise as well as art and one of a kind collectibles. You will find bestsellers and almost any books that you can think of in this store. Some of the books in the technical section were a little dated though. more

surprisingly good bookstore 8/21/2005

The University of Pittsburgh bookstore in Oakland goes beyond serving students textbooks; rather it's a pretty decent bookstore. They do allocate a lot of shelf space to technical topics (computers & sciences), but there is a decent selection of fiction and non-fiction as well. Downstairs you can find textbooks, which non-students are not supposed to buy but you still can. Students from other institutions (colleges or high schools) that show ID can even purchase education versions of software. more
