With so many consumer tools available--like Consumer Reports, Edmunds, Costco, AAA--it's amazing how dealerships still try old tricks. I'd visited several dealerships over the past month and while Universal Hyundai did have the make/model/color/configuration I wanted, each new step of the negotiating process made me feel that I'd been intentionally mislead in the previous step. The salesman and the finance guy would throw out some "inside" terminology, without explaining what it meant, and then put a paper in front of me, expecting me to sign. Don't salesmen know that people need and want CLARITY? Stop telling me you're "honest," and SHOW me you're honest. When a salesman has to repeat half a dozen times, "I'm honest," I tend to not believe him. Show me you're honest; don't just tell me. Bought my car at another dealership over an hour away, because they were clear and upfront. Never shoved a piece of paper in front of me, never used dealership-specific jargon, and let me do most of the talking. See ya!
