Buttery steaks and chunky crabcakes. 11/16/2006

One of my favorite steakhouses. The steaks are buttery soft and melt in your mouth. The crabcakes are awesome. Service is great. I didn't try the dessert and opted for Ralph's italian ices just half a block away instead. Atmosphere is small and intimate. Valet parking is available (otherwise parking can be a bit of a hassle). Somewhat pricey for Queens. Pros: Best steak I've tasted, valet parking, small restaurant Cons: Price, location more

STEAK STEAK STEAK LOVERS 9/1/2006

BETTER THAN RUTH CHRIST TODAY, TOMORROW ANYDAY!!!! DON'T JUST SIT THERE. GET OUT TO UNCLE JACK'S STEAKHOUSE. HE'S THE UNCLE YOU WANT TO SEE ON THE HOLIDAYS AND EVERY DAY!!!\r GREAT PLACE TO ENJOY A REAL AMERICAN MEAL.. Pros: PARKING- STREET OR VALET Cons: RESERVATIONS ARE BEST more

best steak on the north shore 8/20/2006

Heading out east on Northern Boulevard there are so many steak houses you need a scorecard...Uncle Jacks (technically on Bell Blvd), Peter Lugar's, Morton's, Burton and Doyle, Bryant and Cooper, Sagamore, etc., etc....but you needn't drive too far east, the first stop is the BEST. Uncle Jack's is a small, cozy spot, but the fare is fabulous (just ask Mayor Bloomberg, who dines here at least twice a month---you can always tell when by the big, black SUVs parked on the sidewalk)...EVERYTHING is first rate, from the marvelous martinis, the well prepared salads and appetizers (great goat cheese, stupedous shrimp), to the perfect steaks. The rib eye is astounding, the porterhouse is perfect. Also, they do a great tuna steak...sushi quality. Friendly and educated waitstaff will treat you like an old friend. Who needs Lugars when I've got an UNCLE in the business? Pros: fabulous food and excellent service Cons: tough aprking--sometimes they have valet more

Good Steak In Queens w/Manhattan Prices 6/16/2006

We took my pops here for Father's Day last night. While the food was good, service tried way too hard. They didnt know the difference between being observant (good service) vs. overbearing. The crabcakes were great, the shrimp cocktail was NOT NOT worth. Now to the steaks.. we had the poterhouse and the ny strip. The NY Strip was charrred but still tasty if you scrapped the charred top off. The porterhouse was tender. Dessert was way too sweet and the creamed spinach was very good but not as creamy as other steakhouses. We had a good experience overall but the bill was expensive considering the restaurant was in Queens and the steak was charred. Pros: Great portabella salad, good steaks, parking is easy Cons: Expensive, service was overbearing more

great steakhouse 2/13/2006

I went to uncle jack's recently and it was one of the best dining experiences i've ever had. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, he was one of my favorite parts of the evening. The steaks were delicious along with the creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. The shrimp cocktail is huge and the tiramisu cake is wonderful. Pros: service, valet parking Cons: expensive more

too noisy too crowed~ 12/22/2005

i had dinner in uncle jack's steakhouse with my friends. it was ladys day out. we choosed to go there because this steakhouse was famous and we wanted to have nice dinner for the holiday. however i think ambience was really not good because it was so noisy loud really bad to have conversation with my friends.. also most of people were men, me and my friends felt little uncomfortable being surrounding men. but they really had excellent sevice food was little bit expensive. if any one want to have nice dinner with converstion i think you have think about going to uncle jack's steakhouse more

The Kobe Beef is unbelievable... 11/9/2005

After our waiter described the kobe beef i had to give it a try despite the $100 price tag. And it was the most amazing meat I have eaten. I won't even call it steak because it didn't even taste/feel like steak. It was something entirely different. I can only say that the steak really melted in my mouth while i had to chew the usda prime filet. The regular filet & strip were great too, but nothing compared to the kobe beef. The jumbo shrimp cocktail was also delicious despite the hefty cost of $5 per enormous piece. It was a bit noisy and crowded on Thursday night at the restaurant in Bayside, but is definitely worth a try. NYC restaurant card offers a 10% discount . Enjoy! Pros: KOBE BEEF!, Great Food, Good Service Cons: Expensive, Parking, Small & Crowded more

New Yorks Best Steak...hands down 1/24/2005

I have been going to Uncle Jacks for years now and I have tried many other steak houses. I keep going back to uncle jacks because the steak is simply the best in new york. The way the steak tastes is like no other steak house steak. Do yourself a favor and go get a medium rare ny strip with a side of garlic mashed and an ice cold bass ale. Pros: steak, steak, steak more

Best Steakhouse? Not even close! 7/26/2004

Overpriced and after looking at the reviews overated. Not bad food, I just don't get all the hype. If you want much better go to Dylan Prime or Morton's. And if you plan on going to the Queens location try bourbon street right down the block; just as good and 1/2 the price. more

don't understand the raves! 4/2/2004

Went to uncle jack's last night for a romantic dinner. crabcake appetizer was fine. the filet was ordered medium and came CHARRED! Too well done, not enjoyable. Service tried too hard and since there were only 5 or so other tables the wait staff hovered around us constantly. It ruined the evening. I felt for the $$ we spent it was not worth it. 9pm on a friday night and it was a dead atmosphere. Pros: lighting Cons: , charred food more

The Best! 4/1/2004

By far, my favorite steak house (and I have been to them all)! I have eaten at the original in Bayside, Queens and recently at the new location on 9th Ave in the city. The original is still my favorite (more of a personalized feel with the service and food seems to taste a bit better), but both are amazing! Steaks are the best I've had, the creamed spinach is amazing and highly recommended, and the garlic mashed are a must! Also the best crab cakes and huge shrimp cocktail! Can't say anything negative about Uncle Jacks. Pros: service, great steaks, ambiance more

The Best Steakhouse 12/12/2003

The best steakhouse by far...one of NYC best kept secrets....Our waiter Brian was superb...couldn't ask for a better...not too pushy and suggestions were fabulous!!! The food was excellent. The surf and turf was magnificent!!! The steak melts in ur mouth...full of flavor and the 25oz Lobster Tail...forget about it... it was excellent as well. The appetizers were awesome especially the Crab cakes...presentation and service wa surplus...what more can I say... EXCELLENT. Reservations a Plus...since it is kinda small less than 20 tables, but room downstairs for private parties... Over 25 Y/O according to the door plaque Pros: Service, Food, Everything Cons: None, None, None more

jacks 9/14/2003

We neer heard about this small cozy restaurant in Bayside Queens but we finally went a few months ago and have back almost weekly since then. We have consistantly received great treatment every time we go. It is the best steaks we have ever eaten and all the other food is of the same quality. We will continue to go and tell all our friends. Pros: Food, Service, Decor Cons: Queens, Expensive more

YUM YUM YUM 6/23/2003

Mmm....steak!! This place makes a mean porterhouse steak. I also had the garlic mashed potato, lobster tails, and crab cakes. They were all VERY GOOD! The service was excellent. The staff was so nice. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants GREAT food and service. Pros: service, food, location more

Peter who's? 6/8/2003

I have had the best steak and seafood HERE. No where else in NY is as good!!PERIOD!And no one gave me a dime to say this. more

Hmmm Good! 7/27/2002

Always consistently good food and service. I have never had a bad meal there. Small and very quaint. The quality of meat is as good or better than Peter Luger's. The seafood is so fresh that you will swear that you were near Fulton Fish Market. The portions are huge. I recommend the porterhouse and the chilean sea bass, split it with someone and enjoy a great but different surf and turf combo. Pros: valet parking, cigar friendly, great wine selection more

Perfect Portherhose for 2 6/22/2002

Excellent. Great porterhouse for 2. Excellent desert. Staff is friendly and helpful. A bit pricey for Queens but worth it. more
